Quelle horreur! Republican presidential front-runner Mitt Romney has been skewered in a new political attack ad - for speaking French.

The ad, released by rival Newt Gingrich, seeks to draw unflattering parallels between Mr Romney and another Massachusetts politician, John Kerry.

Entitled The French Connection, it features a clip of Mr Romney talking in French when he ran the Winter Olympics.

The Republicans are vying to challenge President Obama in November’s election.

Correspondents say the highlighting of Mr Romney’s alleged French-language skills is an attempt to portray him as an elitist, European-style liberal wimp.

You mean the US Constitution with no mention of God? Which states that there are to be no religious tests for holding office? That first amendment? That part where the Presisent’s oath of office can be sworn OR AFFIRMED? THAT Constitution.?

I don’t know about ALL Mormans, but I do know that a lot of non-Mormans believe the Constitution oif the USA to be divinely inspired, even including the parts about slavery.

Pro-Life Attorney, Activist Endorse Romney for President

Two of the leaders of the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), one of the top pro-life legal firms in the nation, have issued endorsements for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

Jay Sekulow and Jordan Sekulow say they strongly support Romney in his bid to win the GOP nomination in the battle to replace pro-abortion President Barack Obama.

“In order for conservatives to make the changes in Washington that we have been fighting for, we must first defeat President Obama and have a leader with a proven record of getting things done,” said Jay Sekulow. “Mitt Romney is the one candidate who can take his pro-growth message to the American people and defeat President Obama.”

“Throughout his life, he has proven that he will not back down from difficult situations – fixing the mess that President Obama has left will not be easy,” he added.

“Mitt Romney’s record as governor and vision for our country is one that conservatives should be proud to support,” said Jordan Sekulow. “He cut taxes, balanced budgets, and defended both traditional marriage and life in a politically difficult environment. Mitt Romney’s ability to defeat President Obama and enact conservative change is why I support him and so many conservatives are backing his campaign.”

Romney said he appreciated the support of the pro-life advocates.

“Jay and Jordan have been on the front lines fighting for conservatives – it is an honor to have their support,” he said. “On issues of great importance to me, including religious freedom and protecting human life, Jay and Jordan have been tireless leaders. The endorsements follow one from another prominent pro-life legal activist — Harvard law professor and former Vatican ambassador Mary Ann Glendon, who released a video praising Romney’s pro-life views and record.

If he does, than he’s keeping quiet about it. If something like that got out, you’d hear about it, I think.

Frankly, I would find it troubling if he did, but I’d still vote for him over Obama.

Between that and the fact that he’s a typical rich old white guy banker type makes him unelectable in my mind. Ron Paul may believe some weird things, but he’s authentic. I can’t figure out why he’s been pre-ordained to be electable. But at least he’s pro-life even though he’s status quo otherwise. Not sure if that cuts it for me.

Millionaire businessman Mr Romney also spent more than two years living in Paris and Bordeaux in the 1960s working as a Mormon missionary.

I wonder why he was in the Bordeaux region? What a joke, we should be so lucky as to be sent to the Bordeaux region. I can’t vote for this guy.

There is no way abortion will be overturned in our morally sick nation. They can’t even get abortions banned in the most conservative states. Romney just wants your votes. Nothing is going to change from a man who thinks contraceptives are working just fine.

I’m not a great Mitt Romney fan but bashing him for his mission experience as a young man is showing a lack of familiarity with what he did. At the time of his mission (LDS young men are told where they go, they don’t select the location) anyway, he showed some pretty good leadership there when the Mission President was in a car accident and Romney took over as acting mission leader. You can knock Romney for a lot of things but not, IMHO, as a young leader while on LDS mission.

The reason he got that sweet-heart deal is because he’s from a rich influential Mormon family I suspect. I think poor-unconnected Mormons probably get sent to New Jersey (BTW, I love NJ).

Maybe the priest hitting him was God’s message trying to tell him to go somewhere else. Realise that if Mormonism was in France instead of Catholicism, there would be no world famous wine growing region. Mormons don’t drink wine because it’s an unreasonable religion.

I think all the polls how Romney is the favorite though. Liberals liked Romney the DNC would not have been attacking Romney for months, like they have been.

But with a huge 18 pt lead over Santorum in this poll, if Romney takes the first 3 contests including a southern state such as SC, he would appear to be well on his way to being the nominee irregardless.

I’m happy to say that Romney’s support in South Carolina has dwindled down to eighteen percent. It’s all Gingrich and Santorum now, thanks be to God.

Front-runner Mitt Romney said he would have signed the law and insisted it was “appropriate” to detain American members of al-Qaida. Romney called membership in the group “treason” and said the U.S. government has the right to impose indefinite detention.

Rick Santorum said a U.S. citizen who is detained as an enemy combatant should have the right to a lawyer and to appeal their case before a federal court.

Very interesting - esp. coming from someone who has himself done so , in his 'mission work ’ and is member of the group that has armies of thousands who get persons into treason of denying the true faith, to put their eternal souls , in jeopardy !

Wonder if there could be some collaboration of powers unseen , to use the above, to put away any and all that might seem to stand against their plans for dominion !

The history of the world as well as of the respective traditions that the two persons primarily subcribe to, Islam / atheism as wel as Mormonism gives us much to be cautious about !

One interesting point is even Islam seems to have more respect for the Mother of The Lord , than in Mormonism ( even though ,in this particular case, that respect seems lost as respect for women and life ! ) and the latter primarily seem to be a system that caters to the deepest trait of fallen man - pride of wanting to be on equal footing with God , which seems to have led to a system of strict controls that goes well with the above dangerous rule ; all these , inturn , lead to loosing the deepest joy of being able to love and adore an Almighty , all good God , may be even loosing the grace to be deeply repentant of one’s failures !

Even the ship wreck , while not wanting to make light of a tragedy , that too seems to speak …Concordia , like in Concord , NewHampshire , that went very close to the candidates that have strayed away from The Way , of our Lord , not trusting in the revealed truths , but finding their own , having had to change course often , God only knows how many have been left in the dark stormy seas !

O Mary concieved without sin , pray for us who have recourse to Thee , pray for those who do not have recourse to Thee , esp. the enemies of The Church !
