If you wish to add substance, feel free. In this post, you did not.
Then let me reiterate, when one questions a slogan, analogy or some rhetorical device, it is good to explain why it is an inappropriate slogan or inapt analogy. That is what I was wondering. What exactly is your objection, especially in light of your value of human life?

Foreign aggressiveness is every bit a legitimate life issue as abortion. While abortion is always wrong, so is an unjust war. We just can disagree with what constitutes an unjust war. However, if a candidate seems inclined to start an unjust war (in his opinion), it is as legitimate for a Catholic do disregard him as it is to disregard any other life issue.

It is, by definition, a one-liner. It only has one line. 😛

Only time will tell if it becomes cliche or not. “Make love, not war!” “You can’t hug your children with nuclear arms.”
“Support the right to arm bears”

“work for whirled peas”

“hate is not a family value”

What can I say, I used to live near a university.

Pro-life means life begins at conception and sometimes ends in war for those who are brave and courageous enough to serve their country."

Spending more intelligently is definitely the right way to go with our military, as well as protecting our borders better. But bringing everyone home and not supporting our allies is isolationist and will only set us up to be hit by our terrorist enemies more easily. If we bury our heads in the sand we cannot possibly know what the people who want to do us harm are up to.
And to other responders in this thread that suggest more cooperation with the UN, I think that is also an area where we need to be very careful. The majority of the the countries with the UN are very anti-Israel in their rhetoric and that also segues into anti-America sentiments because we are allied with them. Until we see a UN that is living up to its original ideals, to fairly represent all nations, I think the proper course would be to start easing back in our association with them. The money put into the UN by the US is outrageously high, yet we are bashed constantly by the members. And this also touches on the idea that the US needs to focus on The US is bashed when it extends itself to help other countries while at the same time being told that we don’t do enough. As for the idea that - my answer to that is Poland is also our ally and if we made the promise to help them protect themselves from being taken over by Russian or Soviet forces again, then we need to stand by that promise. Russia has nothing to worry about if they don’t do anything to Poland. All of the noise they make about that makes me wonder what their future plans for Poland are.
Obama has turned our reputation into one of not supporting our allies by practically abandoning Israel and agreeing to no missile shields. He is making us look weak by trying to appease governments that make no secret of their hatred for us, and he is weakening our country by his mishandling of pretty much everything that crosses his path from international relations and foreign policy to the economy. He has an overt socialist agenda that he his slowly forcing onto our country, and his obvious disregard for the constitution of this country should be a huge red flag for every American citizen.

So, do you think my dislike and distrust of Obama shows? Just a little? 😊😊😊
Sorry for the rant, but people really need to recognize what’s at stake with this election coming up. I too come from a family with a strong military background and am proud of what our country has stood for all of these years. It shames me to have someone like Obama in office, dragging all those good years through the mud. His wife may be proud of her country for the first time, but I’m feeling shame for my country for the first time.
I am with you on this one Brother! 👍

Serving their country doesn’t mean lining up to die for another country at the whim of a politician whose feeling like blowing stuff up while lining the pockets of those who stand to profit from the military industrial complex.

I may be young to the political seen, but the itchy trigger finger of the Republican party sure does bother me, nearly as bad as the Democratic party’s desire to push abortions.

The “nearly” part of the above post gives me some hope - in that you haven’t stooped the level of “Bush lied, thousands died” answer to anyone who points out the basic Republican pro-life platform.

Last I checked we had a volunteer army and I am sure those who joined knew full well that they could be called upon to serve in a wartime situation. What about all of those who joined between 2003 to present? Are we to say they are just hopeless dupes who just don’t get that they are tools of the military industrial complex? Last I checked, Afghanistan’s govt. harbored and aided the group that planned and carried out the attacks on 9/11. Or do you think it was an inside job?

To me, the military should solely be utilized for self defense/retaliation.

In cases where an great trade ally is outgunned and threatened possibly.

To threaten other countries into doing what we want, no.

So if a group attacks us and then retreats to a safe haven, we are forbidden from attacking that safe haven?

Agree with the perceptions of the influnce of the media …also called ‘the world’ …as well as the prinice of this world who is a liar whom most of such media seem to choose to serve !

The extent of the scorn and cursings from many in such is one indication .

Thus, we have a candidate whose beliefs are very much divergent from the revealed truths of the majority of the people here , one who seems very much invested in that belief system which distorts truths , yet deny same , has been adept at using the media , to bring persons under their control , and believe that all who are not of their system are not worthy of what God wants for all … …thus , evidencing lack of love and fidelity to God or neighbor .

Yet , no word from media on these …instead, have been adept at diverting attention , by spewing torrents of water , about matters that may not be that pertinent, if the heart of the person is in the right place !

It is misinformation and lack of wisdom as well as stubborn pride that made for deaf ears that led us to Iraq war …

It is the same media who could not or rather would not read the barracked heart of Obama , becuase of the background of his upbringing …

and now , we are again blindfolded , to another , with rather similar background of built in antipathy towards the majority in the country …esp. towards the core values of their beliefs !

The RomneyBama care , called out as the cornerstone of Romney’s achievement might give us an icon of what the future might hold .

He himself said how he would have done things diffrently …that there is a dead fly in the balm …

( Thank God Sen.Santorum brougt up the issue powerfully ! )

Should give us caution …like the ship that ran along uncalled for paths , with broken hull …

When there is lack of warmth of love in the heart , from genuine identification with the people , in major areas , all the moves will be only to serve the god of self …of power
and w e get flies in the balm .

ships that capsise …

LIkely that the same media migt switch , come election time …to push the tilting ship furthur into tumultous waters …

Thank God there is so called social media and hopefully enough persons that trust in God and in those who make efforts , to trust in the God of our fathers , to get the needed wisdom and guidance from Him , not from men , influenced by the lies of fallen nature !

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us all !

The reports of serious illness in Mrs Romney and the continuing sternous efforts of the candidate , for campaigning also need to give us pause …

Both multiple sclerosis and issues aorund breast cancer can be adversely affecetd by stress …

and the illness , in turn, could affect the candidate’s capacity to be fully engaged , in critical matters …

Thus , his choice to continue , does it reflect more of a commitment to the Mormon church ,more so than to the wife or the country …

We have Gingrich , who was encouaraged by his able wife and his own passion to values and lessons learned from Bl John Paul 11 …

whose voice, if he country had listened to , we and Iraq would have been spared much , even in financial realm and not given a Pres. with Islamic values of wanting to undermine Godly freedom at many levels .

.and we stare again , at another potential candidate with even more dangerous Islamic values - more dagerous , since they are cleverly hidden , thus , like in a fake note that has closer resemblance …

Thus , again , we have to wonder , for all his well blown out weaknesses , if Gingrich is heaven’s humbling choice we need ,so that together we can say -

Have mercy on us O Lord, for we have sinned !

and when we do , we need not be perturbed that we might be calling on a man made idol !

a Santo-Ron team also might do !

Getting back to the debate the other night, I thought Santorum’s answer to the question of how his religious faith would influence his decisions as president, was the best.

Over all however, Romney clearly won and will appeal to more independent’s in the general election, should he make it that far.

Ron Paul’s a couple points ahead of Romney amongst independents.

Personally, I find it sad that conservatives would fall for Romney.

That is correct.

One of my very lefty friends [who because of his job should know better] said that attacking in such circumstances would constitute “revenge”. Can’t do that.

Another of my friends said that in those circumstances, we should surrender.

Lol, it’s nonsense. On both parts.
