Had not cared before about Romney’s wealth …except for how much of that might be used for propaganda for conversion and such …

now reading up , on his interest in getting wealthy by power of thoughts ,the foundation of which seems to be , one can become wealthy by sort of making a god out of money …

This might be what those who seem to complain is trying to hint at …

and we are warned , we cannot serve God and mammon …
that love of money is the root all evil …

and that we are to love God , with all our heart and might …

Thus , makes one wonder if these pervasive games of playing mind games is what led the counrty , to its present predicament and trillions in debt …

Many ignored the fundamental values issue with Obama , instead were enchanted with his promise of universal health …and now , facing the struggles , esp.The Church , in that one area …

Thus , here we are again , looking at the wealth issue and expertise in that area as the main attraction and possibly asking for similar results , when we ignore who we might also be choosing to serve !

So, now his god is money… By your and other’s reasoning, anyone who is successful financially is serving mammon rather than God. :rolleyes:

Well, at least you aren’t going with the completely bigoted anti-Mormon position anymore. Baby steps…

Misreadings …there is the gratification of having been able to share the truth of our faith , even if in baby steps , hoping that in God’s hands , even a little an be a lot …

Personally knowing some mormons , there is no animosity towards any ; only compassion !

Did not make the judgemental claim that Romney’s god is money …just that the system that he supposedly was attracted to ( irr.org/mit/Mitt-Romneys-Mormonism.html ) seems to promote same !

And concern as to what could be the detrimental effects , if such pervasive values lead to problems for the nation dealing with so much debt !

Hope that Gingrich or those who care enough about Christian values would see this as the cornerstone issue of the election , not putting trust in debate skills and such - unsure if he would have anticipated that the 'thought skills ’ use for power might have been unleashed on him in the recent debate !

Fasting and incessant calling on of The Holy Spirit so that the nation can have leaders who are capable of calling on The Lord , in good faith - may we be so blessed !

I can’t help disagreeing with this argument. I don’t support Romney, but it has nothing to do with his being Mormon. Do you really believe Catholics in other countries will convert to Mormonism because LDS missionaries tell them the President of the United States is Mormon? Do they love and emulate the leaders of the US that much? (And who says he’s “super-smart”?) If that is the case, you likely also believe Catholics in the US will convert to Mormonism even more so. I highly doubt either event will happen. Also, if you recognize the LDS hate Catholics (which I think is too broad a statement), wouldn’t Catholics in other countries recognize it too? My only potential concern is that those in other countries might hold Romney’s religion as another reason for disliking and distrusting the US, although I tend to think this won’t take place either.

I have always supported Santorum throughout this primary process, yet Newt’s arrogant attempt to get Santorum out, is enough to make me hope that Newt Gingrich ends-up far from being the GOP nominee. I would have a very difficult time voting for Newt.
 
That wasn’t an attack on his pro-life views. It was more of Trudeau satirizing how Santorum seems to be a single-issue candidate
 
He could have said that , to give hope to those who think Fla. is The decisive vote !

Was hoping that he would have a slogan , such as ’ New Times , with strenght of Old’
  • instead of focus on 'Reagan conservatives ’ who might be a far memory for many already
and that slogan to mean the strenght for his side is from the faith of our Fathers , not from debate skills etc !

Hope that the struggles and set backs would help him , to get all the virtues that need sharpening , to face the coming combats !

I don’t think the Republican party has anti immigration rhetoric at all, the Republican party is pro legal immigration and believes in a nation of laws, so is the a Republican against illegal immigration, yes.

I always get a kick out of the “Hispanic voters” assumptions. They aren’t a monolithic group by any stretch of the imagination, including on immigration issues.

I know, I don’t want to sound patronizing because I am not Hispanic bit if I was I can not imagine that illegal immigration would be the biggest concern to me when it comes to supporting candidate. I think it is wrong for anybody to castigate Hispanic voters, whether they be Cuban, Mexican or other as single issue voters on the issue of illegal immigration.
 
OK, could someone explain how this is an attack on his “pro-life views?” Its making fun of his stance on condoms. Not every pro-life person shares the Catholic Church’s views on contraception so I fail to see this as an attack on his “pro-life views.”

Our popular culture makes quite a bit of fun of anything pro-life, Catholic, religious, traditional, conservative, you name it! I actually don’t read the comics anymore, but not in protest. I just don’t find a lot of things funny, and the comics are boring to me. I do laugh at some SNL nonsense though. Sometimes the irreverent is funny. I guess we do need to be able to laugh at things that are serious, but it is getting harder and harder for me to find anything funny. That’s not good either.
 
I stopped reading Doonesbury regularly years ago, But check back from time to time to see how incredibly liberal it’s become. And there has been censorship by individual newspapers over the years that it appear in a place other than the Sunday Funnies, or at certain times, not at all. We have a free press but lines need to be drawn. If a cartoonist wants to share his political views then put it with the other political cartoons.

I have two friends who watch trends in newspaper “comic” strips, and they are not getting better. I only glance at a few from time to time to see what is mostly a sad parade of individuals who are not trying to be funny.
