Legislate. That’s what they do. I would like them to move in a more conservative direction. Ron Paul is not capable of leading them there. He’s shown that in his 30 years of non-accomplishments.
I agree, he’s not. I would like to point out that if we had 30 years of a do nothing federal government, we’d be better off.

Good luck on getting your conservative government, conquering all the oil producing countries in the world and destroying yourself with your own fiat currency in the process.
A Ron Paul dictatorship is unlikely to happen.
Oh, I’d bet everything I own that it won’t.

I’m trying to figure out just what it is conservatives are trying to conserve…from the outside now, looking in it appears they are just littler government liberals.

So, you’re on the outside (i.e. not a conservative)?

I can not fully support conservatism on the national level, no. Personally and locally, very much so. But I see conservatism going the way of the buffalo at the Federal level, hence my reasoning to return to states rights, constitutionally limited government that center around libertarian principles and Austrian economics.

Us fighting liberalism vs. conservatism at the federal level is only going to give us more liberalism.

Good luck with that.

I need tIme, you need luck.

Our goals are very similar. I’m just approaching them from a different angle - by working within an electable party structure, rather than complaining from the sidelines. That’s called strategy…no luck involved.

You, I’m guessing, are hoping that another Obama win because people shouldn’t support “the lesser of two evils,” will lead to some great awakening and the rise of a viable third party? That requires more luck.

Similar, maybe…I’ve changed my approach whereas yours happens to be the same old story. Your really just complaining from the sidelines as well, you just have more politicians on the field that keep telling you they are running the play you want.

No, I’m not in the third party boat yet.

You sound like a potential Gingrich fan. 🙂
Nope, not even close. Not only do I disagree with Newt Gingrich’s policies, I think that power is a very bad thing for his soul. It’s not safe for him, nor for us, to have him as President of the U.S.

I’m a Ron Paul supporter.

Peace and God bless!

Obama reporting $68M in 4thQ. 583K donors, 200K first timers. 98% were $250 or less.

Conservatives conserve the laws and policies that Liberals have enacted. Conservatives are essentially the Liberals of the previous era, politically one step behind the “forward thinking” Liberals of today.

Tomorrow they will be conserving the policies that the Conservatives of today oppose. I’m not even being snarky; it was once conservative to oppose adventuristic military endeavors, but the Liberals pushed for it. Now military adventurism is a Conservative staple. This is just one example of many.

Peace and God bless!

When was that? During the Goldwater campaign? Robert Taft excluded, name one conservative who was a non-interventionist.

Hint: if they later formed a “Progressive” party, they were not “conservative”.

I’ve issued this challenge to Paul supporters with no results.

Republicans see a vulnerable Obama in Florida
The Republican National Committee is out with a new memo highlighting President Obama’s general election weakness in Florida - on the same day of the GOP primary there.
The Obama campaign fired back, targeting Mitt Romney, who is leading in the Florida polls, directly.
“Mitt Romney’s policies are wrong for Florida and voters know it. He supports an extreme Tea Party agenda that would gut Social Security and Medicare, while backing a budget plan that would end Medicare as we know it and increase costs to seniors. On the issues important to Latinos, Romney takes the most extreme positions on immigration, and just today doubled down on letting foreclosures hit the bottom. The more voters learn about Romney the more then don’t like and realize he is the wrong choice for Florida and for the country,” Obama campaign spokesperson Tom Reynolds said.

The Obama Campaign is flat out lying. At a campaign rally in Florida Monday evening, Mitt Romney told the crowd: “We will never go after Medicare and Social Security.”

The Obama campaign is trying to make is sound like Romney is against immigration, LEGAL immigration, which is not true.

I believe I said military adventurism. I said nothing about non-interventionism.

Peace and God bless!

In the United States, this foreign policy has been advocated at various times in the country’s history, notably during the first century of U.S. history. George Washington, the first U.S. President, advised the country to avoid “foreign entanglements.” Thomas Jefferson favored “peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations; entangling alliances with none.” John Quincy Adams wrote that the U.S. “goes not abroad in search of monsters to destroy.”
The policy of non-intervention has been a serious issue for every major U.S. war. During World War I, the inter-war years, World War II, and the Korean War, the main proponents of non-interventionism were the Old Right. During the Vietnam War and the Iraq War, the New Left became the chief proponents of non-interventionism. Today in the U.S., both Neoconservatives and New Democrats favor military interventionism in foreign policy, for various reasons. Constitutionalists, Paleoconservatives, and libertarians are non-interventionists.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-interventionism

During WWI and WWII, the non interventionism banner was carried by the La Follettes and Gerald Nyes, who were the RINOs of their day.

Also from Wiki:
Many members of this faction were associated with the Republicans of the interwar years led by Robert Taft, but some were Democrats. They were called the “Old Right” to distinguish them from their New Right successors, such as Barry Goldwater, who favored an interventionist foreign policy to battle international communism…
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Right_(United_States

I’ve always been confused why “Paleocons” like Buchanan were heartily anti-Communist, and supported our anti-Communist interventions, but change positions when it comes to the ME.
