Sure, he didn’t address his statement or his sentiment adequately. His response or “clarification” simply reapeated in greater detail that he isn’t conserned about the very poor.

Utter contortion.

From the article
Well, you had to finish the sentence, Soledad,” said Romney. “I said I’m not concerned about the very poor that have the safety net, but if it has holes in it, I will repair them…The – the challenge right now – we will hear from the Democrat Party, the plight of the poor, and – and there’s no question, it’s not good being poor and we have a safety net to help those that are very poor.

Obviously not, but the quote (taken out of context) is going to appear in an anti-Mitt ad sooner rather than later.
Just like the carefully clipped “I like firing people” quote.

“I’m in this race because I care about Americans, I’m not concerned about the very poor. We have a safety net there. If it needs repair, I’ll fix it.”

“I’m not concerned about the very rich, they’re doing just fine. I’m concerned about the very heart of the America, the 90, 95 percent of Americans who right now are struggling and I’ll continue to take that message across the nation.”

Taken out of context.

Romeny “It’s not good being poor”

I guess he is to contemptuous of the poor, that he gave MILLIONS in charitable donations. He makes himself PERSONALLY concerned, not the government.

His religion requires him to give 10 percent to his church and verify that in documentation if he is to retain his Mormon “priesthood” status.

If Romney cared nothing about the poor, and I’m not saying it’s true, then he would be exactly where Obama is on the issue. In fact, he might be ahead of Obama in caring for the poor because Romney has proposed nothing to harm them, whereas Obama has.

Why is this a problem?

He’s free to (1) not become a priest (2) join another church (3) all of the above.

Nice one Mitt. I guess you wouldn’t be “too conserned” would you? Thanks for being honest though. 😦

Interesting…I read the article…and he said nothing of the sort of which you condemn him for.

Truth doesn’t seem to be at the heart of this opening of the thread IMO…seems to me a “picture” is sought to be painted by isolating a part of a longer statement and thought…Truth is not served in any way it seems to me.🤷

I know you guys have to stand behind Mitt. It’s OK. 🙂

He’s good enough. . . We’ll settle.

Did you know that is a “requirement” of nearly all Christian religions?

Romney gave 4 million to charity last year. Obama… yeah… less than 1 %. Biden… less than $400.

Obama’s latest vacation was 4 million.

It appears to me… Romney is far more concerned with the poor.

But keep up with the misleading headlines ABC… most of us aren’t that stupid.

His religion requires him to give 10 percent to his church and verify that in documentation if he is to retain his Mormon “priesthood” status.
So, he chooses to be in a religion that expects people to make charitable contributions. Is that a problem? Is he forced to remain Mormon?
