Yes, people have “compassion” for the homosexual person and their acts. They have no compassion for the rest of society though.
Their “compassion” is actually an expression of sentimentalism:

Is Sentimentalism the Last Step Before Violence?
“Sentimentalism is the force of feel-goodism, the means by which we may cast off the conventions of faith and casually dismiss those institutions that refuse to submit to the trending times and morals. The Sentimentalist trusts his feelings over hallowed authority or the urgings of his reason, frequently answering hard religious questions with some noble-sounding phrase like “The God I believe in wouldn’t . . . ” (fill in the blank). What fits in that blank is typically some tenet of traditional faith that isn’t currently fashionable, some moral demand that pop culture considers impossible—and hence, not worth even trying. Thus the Sentimentalist, while believing he follows the inviolate voice of his conscience, is really sniffing after trends, forming his heart according to the sensus fidelium of middlebrow magazines and public radio.”
  • Elizabeth Scalia (The Anchoress)
And why is this delusion of “compassion” dangerous? Because it leads to an ideological “Idol”:
"Sentimentality leads to violence when sentimentality becomes an ideology. An ideology is a single driving idea that sweeps every other consideration aside. Those who follow an ideology are always self righteous, and they will use every means possible to enforce their ideology. The ideologue may attempt to argue logically or philosophically, but this will only be a tactic–it is not because he believes that logic, philosophy or theology have any real weight. These disciplines will serve the ideology–the ideology itself may never be questioned. Not only logic and philosophy are subject to the ideology, but all things are subject to the ideology. All other considerations are subject to his ideology–including moral considerations.
So the sentimental ideologue will eventually force his opponent to conform. He will use any means possible–political legislation, financial pressure, social pressure, shouting more loudly, imprisonment and persecution and finally bloodshed if necessary."
  • Fr. Dwight Longenecker
You can already witness this pathology come to fruition on this very thread.

And why is this delusion of “compassion” dangerous? Because it leads to an ideological “Idol”:
"This is why the Catholic faith is the sworn enemy of every ideology: because the Catholic faith insists that there is a higher truth, that there is an objective truth and that it is revealed by God–not made up by human beings. Every ideology–whether it is economic or political or sentimental or erotic or ecological or social–every ideology will find the Catholic Church to be an obstacle.
The ultimate irony is that every ideology (like every heresy) is partially true, and it would find it’s fulfillment within the fully expounded Catholic faith.
The way, therefore to counter the ideologies is not for Catholics to be better ideologues, but for Catholics to be better Catholics."
  • Fr. Dwight Longenecker

You’ve never heard of “conscientious objection to military taxation”? And since when is national defense (a valid role of government) the equivalent to euthanizing a portion of the population?

Superfluous name tag
if you disagree with a tax in the US, then you are still required to pay it. but you may protest, and ask for a refund, which you won’t get. any tax dispute is required to be paid anyway, and if you can convince the IRS, or get a judgement, after you pay it, then it will be refunded.

some people think that if they put the money into a trust account, so that they have no use of it, then that relieves some legal liability. it does not.

Of course with the HHS mandate penalty tax, you are only required to pay it if you refuse to follow the HHS-mandated religion and instead follow your own. For a Catholic employer, it’s a penalty tax for deciding to follow Catholic teachings instead of HHS teachings. You can avoid the tax by tossing your own beliefs under the bus.

With more than 80 prominent Republicans planning to file a “friend of the court” brief **asking the U.S. Supreme Court to strike down California’s Proposition 8, **which banned same-sex marriage.
Let’s make it official and strike down the right to vote, too, as long as our vote no longer count for anything, anyway, once the liberal judges decide what we’ll do.

People in turmoil who act in desperate ways do not do it because they are healthy. They act out because they have deep seated serious problems. It is not about social circumstances.
Homosexuals who act on their disordered desires in trying to mimic a hetrosexual union will find themselves in a cheap imitation, because the humnan anatomy and nature itself opposes what they are doing, than they will act in desperate ways because the truth of their disordered desires will no longer be able to be supressed, than they will have deep seated problems (if not already) because they have no idea how to deal with their disordered desires, and people who im sure were trying to help, have been lieing to them by giving them a placebo in encouraging them to go down that destructive path of being a slave to their disordered and immoral desires.
The depression is not because people share the truth. It would be like saying drug addicts kill themselves because society is against drug use.
It is because they don’t deal with the truth, once they share the truth than they can help homosexuals deal with the truth in a healthy and constructive manner, instead of shoving the truth deep down inside for everyone until they can no longer supress it.
Look, I am not following your path here. Pastoral care to specific homosexual persons is one thing. Political opposition to propagandists is another.
I view it in a perspective of trying to help homosexuals, in which I assume gay-activists are also trying to do, so all we need to do is show the ones who are encouraging acts of homosexuality that they are making matters worse for homosexuals, they are telling them what homosexuals want to hear and not the truth that they need to hear.

They are ecouraging homosexuals to live a cheap imitation of a hetrosexual union which will make homosexuals feel worse, not better.

So we need to help homosexuals control their desires that are disordered and be content and happy with who they are, knowing that many suffer from immoral and disordered desires that they must also try to control, only in this way will it make them feel better, and lighten their crosses.

YES! Young people particularly, marinated in the Leftist utopian baloney that doesn’t work in real life mistake support and love for all persons with supporting disordered ideas, practices, and lifestyles.

To quote George Bush, when I was young and stupid, I was young and stupid. I grew up in the 1960s which spawned the evils of sexual libertine lifestyles in this country and watched it happen. Armed with effective contraceptives they soldiered along, ignoring the emotional and physical and societal impact of their activities. I drank the Kool Aid too, thinking we couldn’t “judge” people and that consenting adults ought to be able to do what they wanted. While I didn’t live the libertine lifestyle I looked at it as innocuous and not hurting me in any way. Now I look at society and particularly the impact on children through participation in various charities and social services organizations. Single motherhood and its poverty, STDs, child abuse, drugs and failure to take responsibility for our own actions are everywhere. Homosexuality, which has been part of the human condition, is now everywhere as if anyone should be party to others’ private lives. Now we are forced to participate in what is disordered and abnormal behavior as homosexuality is ‘mainstreamed’ even at primary schools.

The theory we cannot judge others has been elevated to an artform even though it’s often erroneously interpreted as allowing virtually any sort of behavior and activity unless the negative impact is immediate and wide ranging. We are allowing the lunatics to run the asylum.

You are so correct Lisa. It use to becalled the age of discernment, between 25-30. Now because our children are taught by leftist teacher, they know all at 18, and they are allowed to vote on their emotions, because wisdom and discernment have yet to be reached. Some never obtain it, they become college professors. Talk to a most teenager about wisdom, their eyes glaze over and they have no idea that it is a life time goal that we must continuely strived to obtain. Wisdom is not taught, encouraged, or even mentioned in school. That is one reason we are at this stage in human deveopement. The Book of Wisdom is a great starting point, most no nothing about it.

I 100% Agree, I was watching a political debate the other day, when they got a question which said “Why are people not doing more to tackle the issues of depression and drug abuse amongst our youth, in our education system?”

And the answer to that is simple, it’s because people refuse the truth when it involves Christ, when we hand them the truth it’s the all to common “don’t try and force your beliefs onto me” the reason why a cross can lead to desperation or even suicide, is because in those instances it is a cross without Christ, we can only bear a cross with Christ, when people who refuse Christ find themselves on a heavy cross, who do they turn to? why wouldn’t they become desperate? it’s only in times of carrying a light cross, that people don’t need Christ, but when that cross becomes heavy, who/what do they turn to after they refuse the help to carry it, the help that only Christ is able and willing to give them.

"Without education, we are in a horrible and deadly danger of taking educated people seriously." - G.K.Chesterton

“The purpose of Compulsory Education is to deprive the common people of their commonsense.” - G.K.Chesterton**

**“Our educational authorities have already made sure that the system is rigid without making sure it was right. They have already achieved universality but have not unity. They have arranged to teach history without considering what history teaches; they have obtained powers of compulsion for teaching the truth to everybody; and then, looking into their own minds, have found that the truth is not in them.”

“What is education? Properly speaking, there is no such thing as education. Education is simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another. Whatever the soul is like, it will have to be passed on somehow, consciously or unconsciously, and that transition may be called education. … What we need is to have a culture before we hand it down. In other words, it is a truth, however sad and strange, that we cannot give what we have not got, and cannot teach to other people what we do not know ourselves.”

“The only persons who seem to have nothing to do with the education of the children are the parents.”

Excellent quotes. It seems to me that if “education is simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another,” we have in the last few generations managed to kill the soul before passing it on.

LisaA, I uderstand what you were saying now about not understanding my previous post, but I think I am getting better at explaining it, please read this and tell me what you think, thank you.
Homosexuals who act on their disordered desires in trying to mimic a hetrosexual union will find themselves in a cheap imitation, because the human anatomy and nature itself opposes what they are doing, than they will act in desperate ways because the truth of their disordered desires will no longer be able to be supressed, than they will have deep seated problems (if not already) because they have no idea how to deal with their disordered desires, and people who im sure were trying to help, have been lieing to them by giving them a placebo in encouraging them to go down that destructive path of being a slave to their own disordered and immoral desires, which will ultimatly leave them in despair.

It’s all because they don’t deal with the truth, once they share the truth than they can help homosexuals deal with the truth in a healthy and constructive manner, instead of shoving the truth deep down inside for everyone until they can no longer supress it, the truth that homosexual desires are infact and obviously disordered and immoral and that the only way is to oppose our immoral and disoredered desires, not encouraging them to flourish because ultimately they will destroy us, leaving us in despair.

I view it in a perspective of trying to help homosexuals, in which I assume gay-activists are also trying to do, so all we need to do is show the ones who are encouraging acts of homosexuality that they are making matters worse for homosexuals, they are telling them what homosexuals want to hear and not the truth that they need to hear, homosexuals of course don’t want to deal with the truth just like the rest of us in many aspects of our lives, so instead they choose to believe a lie and continue down a destructive path.

They are ecouraging homosexuals to live a cheap imitation of a hetrosexual union which will make homosexuals worse off, not better, this is why gay-activists are just being cruel towards homosexuals, so tell them that “if they really want to help homosexuals, than lets help them by giving them the truth of homosexuality and ways to deal with it in a healthy and constructive manner”.

So we need to help homosexuals control their desires that are disordered and be content and happy with who they are, knowing that many suffer from immoral and disordered desires that they must also try to control, only in this way will it make them better off, and lighten their crosses.
Now hopefully we can show all of those who support the acts of homosexuality like SSM, that they have told homosexuals a lie and now they are forcing everyone else to “play along” with the lie in order to make homosexuals feel better, but homosexuals are not stupid, they can see through the lies no matter how much they want to believe them, so we should be giving them the truth and helping them deal with their disordered desires, anything else is just cruel.

Ah… another RINO… I wish they would create a political party thats called… like I dunno… Fiscally Conservative capitalist. Or maybe just Capitalist ?
As Jason Lewis says, you can’t be a social liberal and expect to be fiscally conservative because social liberalism always begets fiscal liberalism.

Personally, I’m sick and tired of people supporting immoral positions or big government because of friends and family----or to just “feel good”.

Even posters on here who seem to think they’ve got it all figured out do that

Selfishness is selfishness is selfishness, and human emotion is a great catalyst for that.

Really?

So do you eat through your rectum and defecate through your mouth?
LOL!

That is a good one, Cor. Not sure I want to repeat it–it is too vulgar a thought–but it made me snicker out loud nonetheless.

Politicans think all people will toss there morality under the bus, Why, because they do. The think it is the new norm. Senator, keep looking to your children for moral guidiance, that will work out for you I’m sure.

Good news!

Pope Francis continues the “polarizing” and “hateful” theme of Pope Benedict!

In other words: the Papacy is still Catholic! 😉
"After the example of Francis of Assisi, the Church in every corner of the globe has always tried to care for and look after those who suffer from want, and I think that in many of your countries you can attest to the generous activity of Christians who dedicate themselves to helping the sick, orphans, the homeless and all the marginalized, thus striving to make society more humane and more just.
But there is another form of poverty! It is the spiritual poverty of our time, which afflicts the so-called richer countries particularly seriously. It is what my much-loved predecessor, Benedict XVI, called the “tyranny of relativism”, which makes everyone his own criterion and endangers the coexistence of peoples. And that brings me to a second reason for my name. Francis of Assisi tells us we should work to build peace. But there is no true peace without truth! There cannot be true peace if everyone is his own criterion, if everyone can always claim exclusively his own rights, without at the same time caring for the good of others, of everyone, on the basis of the nature that unites every human being on this earth."
This is a consistent continuation of Cardinal Ratzingers last homily:
“We are building a dictatorship of relativism that does not recognize anything as definitive and whose ultimate goal consists solely of one’s own ego and desires.”
Now I know this is heartbreaking to all the liberal “katholics” out there who … by golly … just feel that the archaic crusty ole outdated Roman Catholic Church just needs to get with the hip new meterosexual modern times and embrace the shallow feel-good moral relativism of the Oprah generation. And as such, should never ever ever hurt anyone’s precious feelings. Because you know, Christ was really really *tolerant * and non-judgmental and really just wanted everyone to get along and sing ‘Kumbaya’ as we ignore our biological design and express our “love” by openly shagging each others bodily orifices with all the reckless abandon of a pack of hyenas in the heated hormone induced frenzy of mating season. Or something…

Well, that ain’t gonna happen folks. So shut up, sit down, grow up, and come to a decision:

Are you finally going to choose an allegiance to the Church’s unchangeable Moral Doctrines, or at least keep your objections to yourselves as you openly obey it’s guidance?

Or are you going to be respectfully honest with the Church (and yourselves) and gracious leave in peace?

The choice is yours.

Oh and, the long standing liberal option of staying in the church and anointing yourselves as your own little “magisterium” by actively trying to undermine and subvert the Catholic Church’s timeless Moral Doctrines … is over.

So you decide.

And as you’re mulling it over, here’s a little scriptural guidance to help you along in the popular mode of “What would Jesus do”?

“I know your works; I know that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either cold or hot. So, because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of my mouth." - Revelation 3:15-16
