Response to America Being Protestant

Most of the non native citizens are of primarily Spanish descent. There is quite a bit of German descent though as well, though not very sizable. Mexico even had a German emperor at one point.
 
Except the indigenous population and African population were not considered “men” until decades later.
 
Catholics are the largest Christian denomination. But there are more Protestants.
 
Wasn’t the first Mass said when St. Augustine, Florida was founded?
The Spanish Catholics were in what is now the Southwest before Jamestown.

Catholics were still being persecuted in England when the Mayflower set sail.

We think of the pilgrims being Puritans which were very protestant escaping
Anglicanism, which they thought was still
too Catholic.

Where did you get that idea?

American Indians and African slaves were preached to, and at least some converted to Christianity.
 
Bearing False Witness by Rodney Stark and The Real Story of Catholic History by Steve Weidenkopf are also good books on that.

Patriotism is a love of home and home’s values. Nationalism is the insistence that everyone love it the same amount, for the same reasons as Person X, or else. Patriotism is passive, defensive, out of love, while nationalism is inherently active, aggressive, out of arrogance.
 
Although there were a few Catholics who owned slaves, the Salem witch hunters and the vast majority of slave owners were Protestant. The KKK were and are Protestant.
They feared the potential power and influence of: African-Americans, southern Europeans, Roman Catholics, Jews, Bolshevists, and potential and leftist labor unions.

It’s okay we did bad stuff cause they converted is exactly how England feels about Northern Ireland not being Catholic anymore.
 
Worse what happened when Spain came and interacted with the America’s.

According to Wikipedia, 51% are Protestant and 24% Catholic in the US.

The Constitution doesn’t say that blacks are “3/5 human” at all.

It says for the census and apportionment purposes, since slaves didn’t have a vote, the states weren’t going to get further representation in Congress for their residence. Freed blacks were counted as anyone else.
