I’m attending membership class for a non-denom church tonight. I’ve been attending for the last 6 months and just love it there. I am finally being fed spiritually again. (Catholic for 3 years)
One cannot be truly fed spiritually unless she receives the true manna come down from heaven in the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist…
“They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer, because they confess not the Eucharist to be the flesh of our Saviour Jesus Christ, which suffered for our sins, and which the Father, of His goodness, raised up again.”
St.Ignatius of Antioch, Epistle to Smyrnaeans, 7:1 (c.A.D. 110)
“For not as common bread and common drink do we receive these; but in like manner as Jesus Christ our Saviour, having been made flesh and blood for our salvation, so likewise have we been taught that the food which is blessed by the prayer of His word, and from which our snd flesh by transmutation are nourished, is the flesh and blood of that Jesus who was made flesh.”
St. Justin Martyr, First Apology, 66 (c. A.D. 165)
“The bread over which thanks have been given is the body of their Lord, and the cup His blood.”
St. Irenaeus, Against Heresies, 1V: 18,4 (c. A.D. 200)
The One Holy Catholic Apostolic Church is the early Church built on the foundation of the Apostles with Christ as the corner stone.
“But in learning the Faith and in professing it, acquire and keep that only, which is now delivered to thee by the Church, and which has been built up strongly out of all the Scriptures…Take heed then brethren, and hold fast the traditions which ye now receive, and write them on the table of your heart.”
St. Cyril of Jerusalem, Catechetical Lectures, 5:12 (A.D. 350)
“He who hears you hears me, and the One who sent me.”
I hope it doesn’t mean that by “being fed spiritually” you are unconsciously saying that you are being emotionally gratified. Keep in mind that faith is not an emotion or sensation.
