This is excellent advice! Still if you are confused or want council you can certainly consult your pastor or your spiritual director. They are sure to give you non, or at least, less biased advice which you will find than over the internet.

I’m not telling anyone who to vote for. I’m saying that it’s not a sin to vote for a candidate with an incorrect position on Abortion or Gay Marriage.
That is how you sum up the slaughter of 1.2 million children a year. An “incorrect postion”??? Fortunaately the Church in no way shape or form supports your opinion.

I am afraid we are entering the usual pre-election “it doesnt matter what the Church teaches , my Priest told me it was ok” period .
You are afraid that folks may value the advice given by those with spiritual authority over that advice provided on an internet forum by those with no spiritual authority over them?

That’s a lot of question marks.

How about valuing the ACTUAL statements and teachings of Jesus, the Church and the faith? How about trying that?

Yes, it is similar to how many non-Catholics really have no clue what the Church actually teaches–sadly many in the Church are in the same situation.

Change “legal abortion” to “legal slavery” and you would see nearly all those people flock back to Church teachings.

For me it is nearly EVERY SINGLE ISSUE taken up by the Right. Policies of the Right cost lives. I am a social worker. I have seen it first hand.

In my estimation the Right is wrong on almost every issue. There committment to the Pro-life hasn’t seen much success either.
You’re dodging my question, Ringil - which issue specifically outweighs the killing of thousands of unborn daily?

I have posted direct quotes from vatican Documents. popes and Bishops. You continue to dismiss that as nothng more than advice from internet posters and coninue to claim that somehow all a Catholic need do is talk to their Priesy and they will assure them that your opinion is right. If you have somethng to support your vews other than “ask your priest” please post it. There is no basis in Church teaching for you are espousing here

*It must in any case be clearly understood that whatever may be laid down by civil law in this matter, man can never obey a law which is in itself immoral, and such is the case of a law which would admit in principle the liceity of abortion. **Nor can he take part in a propaganda campaign in favor of such a law, or vote *for it. Moreover, he may not collaborate in its application. It is, for instance, inadmissible that doctors or nurses should find themselves obliged to cooperate closely in abortions and have to choose between the law of God and their professional situation.

Declaration On Procured Abortion-The Supreme Pontiff Pope Paul VI, in an audience granted to the undersigned Secretary of the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith on June 28, 1974, has ratified this Declaration on Procured Abortion and has confirmed it and ordered it to be promulgated.

Or you could go to a heavily slanted forum to gain information of how ot vote. Check the history of posters regarding nearly ANY ISSUE and you will find that they echo rightist ideology. Is this where you should go for advice?
Ad hominem.

Ad hominem.
It’s highly relevant. Aperspective voter is likely to want to seek council from a non-biased source.

Should someone listen to Ann Coulter for an accurate description of the Democratic Party or should they, perhaps seek such an opinion from Maddow? Obtaining an opinion based on the thoughts of either would be a poor way to form an educated picture.

Hence, getting voting advicee from rightist forumites wouldn’t be the best course in forming their choice.

Going to their priest or spiritual director would. Someone they KNOW someone they TRUST to give a balanced and non-biased view.

Posting about issues of race and slavery does seem to be a popular theme amongst some posters.

What If someone only do Rape attempt not actually rape, does he have to bear same punishment?
What about if Women Rapes a Men (One of my fellow question)?

post 38 sir. I already stated this.

All issues in combination regarding the biopsychosocial-econimic realm are proportional reason for me. It is a sad compromise I must make but I feel morally justified given my research into the issue and upon the advice of my confessor.

I am not sure the word “popular” is correct. It is a valid statement. No Catholic that I know of would ever vote for a pro-slavery candidate (if any such person existed), yet they will easily vote for a “pro-killing the unborn” candidate.

You are repeating yourself, as am I, I suppose. 🙂

I did add to my last post so that you may fire back with your invincible and pre-fabricated logic.

Perhaps reposting from Chaput or Burke is in order. . . . .

Lurkers: Ask your priests this issue. CAF posters are spinning their own agenda here.

A Catholic may vote for a Pro-Choice candidate despite their stance on this issue, though an important issue it be.

I, for instance, disagree with nearly EVERY SINGLE issue of Conservative candidates, exept the Pro-Life, Gay Marriage issues. THat is not sufficient for me to cast my vote for said “pro-Life” candidates.

Go to those with ecclesial authority. Your Bishop, your pastor- not an internet forum HEAVILY slanted to the right.
Don’t need to. Frankly I’m only lurking because it’s a complete waste of time to argue with people that being deliberately obtuse.

Lurkers should check folks’ histories to answer the question whether their comments here are simply tied to a devotion to the Pro-Life cause or to the aggregate of rightist political agendas.

**Could posts be an effort to influence folks to vote for their desired candidate on a wide range of issues. I believe so. **
I’d turn that right back at ya. pot meet kettle.

I’m not telling anyone who to vote for. I’m saying that it’s not a sin to vote for a candidate with an incorrect position on Abortion or Gay Marriage.

The Bishops released an adendum to the original article on voting with an informed conscience as some confusion arose from the original.

I’m not so great with providing links though. . . . I know that some here were unhappy with that adendum but as it was written by the Bishops it would be an excellent resource.
It is debatable. If a person knowingly votes for a candidate because they are pro-choice, they might very well be committing sin. If a person votes for a pro-choice candidate for some other reason other than the life issue, than they are not likely sinning, but they sure do have their priorities and their conscience skewed wrongly.

The truth is (I have posted this many times), if we combined all the other issues during this coming election cycle, they do not rise to the level of 1.3 million killed persons every year. Life comes first, then rights after that. Without life, civil rights and immigration and wars and all the other issues don’t mean much.

I’d turn that right back at ya. pot meet kettle.
Actually I’m not providing arguments as to whom a potential voter should cast their vote.

I am stating that it is not a sin to vote for Obama and that efforts to use the abortion issue as a political/spiritual weapon using guilt is false. I actually believe it is unethical but that’s another matter.

An individual may vote for the GOP or Obama and neither choice would be a sin.

I invite them to read Church teaching, pray, and seek council from their priest regarding the issue.
