Many things, such as Jesus & Mary never sinned, Moses is a prophet of God, etc.

Of course there are also many disagreements. We also believe Jesus is God, for example, while Muslims do not. But we agree with Muslims that there is only one God, Moses is a prophet of God, Jesus is a prophet who never sinned, and other things besides.
thanks for the reply…

you said many things, thats not many things…and i was talking about the N T really to be more to the point…

I much prefer the writings of authors such as Fr. Jacques Jomier. Fr. Jomier was fluent in Arabic, lived in predominantly Muslim nations for much of his life, an expert in Islamic studies and consultant to the Secretariat for Non-Christians at the Vatican, and his works do not exhibit the overt prejudice and hostility of Spencer.

The idea that Spencer “accurately reports what Islam really teaches” is disputed, to say the very least (example).

An organization advocating the idea that Muslims should “reform the Qur’an” in order “to expunge it of Jew-hatred, misogny, incitement to violence, etc.” (Pam Gellar’s words.) SIOA demands nothing less of Islam than that it cease to be Islam.

It shouldn’t take very long, reading SIOA’s website, to figure out how someone would get that idea.
Robert Spencer is fluent in Arabic, he couldn’t have done the research he has with out it.
I do not read any hatred or anger in his writings. Sorry, disagree with what you are saying about Robert Spencer.

your link is to a very pro Muslim site designed to spread misinformation. Sorry, not buying it.

I didn’t feel it was necessary to attempt an exhaustive list. We both believe theft is wrong; we both believe that helping the poor is good. We do not agree whether God is more than one Person. Lists of things we agree and disagree about could go on for quite some time. If you want to get a better idea of what we do and don’t have in common, I would recommend comparing and contrasting Catholic sources about Catholicism with Muslim sources about Islam.

Clearly that is disputed. Since there are much better sources available, I’ll stick with those.

you see this is what confuses me… you say in the first line of what you say that we believe note the WE.muslims and Christians you say…
We both believe theft is wrong;
now we emulate who we follow,or supposed to do.that is correct isnt it? now jesus did not do any sort of thing in the bible, but mohamed did we raided caravans and wanted more,20% i believe of the people who thought he was the prophet of allah.

Jesus… ask and it shall be given.

mohamed… take and give me 20%…

the giving to the poor, now i know that they do do this, but only to muslims…nobody else…

What is with the we? and again, Robert Spencer is affluent in Arabic, reading any of if books he goes into the nuances of Arabic and explains the language very well. Islam denies the trinity, the divinity of Christ, they believe that Jesus didn’t die on the cross, it was a substitute and the list goes on. Islam teaching the the OT and NT are corrupted and this is just the surface.

Again, since this is disputed, I’ll stick with more reliable sources.

Yes. Since one can easily learn these things from both Muslim and reliable Christian sources, there’s no need to get any of it from Spencer.

Contrary to what the MSM, Pro-Muslim factions in both political parties and the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) states (and many of the naysayers here on CAF), Robert Spencer did not wake up one day and declare, “I think I’ll wage war on Moslems.”

It is true that Mr. Spencer does not have any “formal” university training in Islam (although he has a BA/MA in Catholic Studies from UNC-Chapel Hill ) - his education is much more in-depth than can be gleamed from some know-nothing, liberal professor. Hearing the oral history of the Christian persecutions from his grandparents in the last days of the Ottoman Empire (pre-Republic of Turkey) had a great effect on him. One only has to read his words and compare what the Qur’an REALLY states is to know that Islam is NOT a religion of peace.

I hope that everyone will tune in to “Catholic Answers Live” this Friday night (12 April) - For TWO hours and decided for yourselves if he is a kook or not. If you have some prejudice toward Mr.Spencer then call in and dispute him… I’ve done some extensive research into Islam and I doubt you can refute what Mr. Spencer is stating.
