Rocket needs prayers

I am scheduled to have surgery next Wednesday, February 2nd. My C4 an C5 discs are pressing against my spinal cord and it’s affecting my balance and gait. The doctors have told me that not having the operation, my condition will deteriorate to the point where I may wind up in a wheelchair. I’ve been an endurance athlete for the last 43 years and this would be devastating to me.

Please pray that my surgery will be successful and stop the progression of the problem.

Blessed Lord, kindly incline Your ear to hear our petition. The generous, giving and prayerful heart of 244Rocket is well known to You. So many of us have benefitted greatly from Rocket’s devotion to prayer, and we are able only to offer feeble thanks in return. Father, we ask that You store up treasure in heaven on Rocket’s behalf. As well, we pray that all of Rocket’s suffering is offered in unity with Your Son on the cross. As this surgery approaches, allow Rocket to be at peace, abandoned into Your most blessed hands. We beseech You to inspire the mind of the surgeon; to fill the surgeon’s heart with love, and with the Creator’s skill, to guide the surgeon’s hands. In Your Divine mercy, allow this procedure to alleviate the suffering that has been borne by Rocket, even during prayer on our behalves. Mercifully hear our imperfect petitions that Rocket’s recovery is rapid, ensuring a quick return to health and full function. Lord, we adore You. Lord, we praise Your Holy Name for Your goodness. Grant this, O loving God, in union with Your precious Son and the most Holy Spirit, Who are One God for ever and ever. Amen. Alleluia!

Lord, we ask that you look after our friend Rocket, who prays faithfully for so many others. Guide the hands and minds of the doctors performing his surgery that all will go as it should. And then, we ask for a speedy recovery too. I ask this through the intercession of Your Most Holy Mother, Mary.

Rocket, you have always prayed for me when I needed it so I am very much praying for you and a very successful surgery 👍

(That being said and being someone who has been chair mobile for almost 40 years, I have to put down the stereotype of people being in wheelchairs can’t be or aren’t athletes, an athlete is more about attitude and less about exactly what their physical limitations are. Sometime google the paralympics and you will see just how these athletes even go beyond anything you probably have imagine. Esp the lighting of the paralympic touch in China a few years back. THAT is an athlete bar none!)

Rocket is remembered in daily prayer. Last Thursday and Friday, Rocket’s intention was placed before our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. Amen.
