garabandal, like others was condemned by the local bishop, but not by the Pope. above anything else, i follow the Pope, not what bishops do say. he’s got the supreme authority, therefore we should listen to him, at all times. not priests, bishops or cardinals who goes against the Pope’s will.

there isn’t such a thing as a private revelation or apparition. when Our Mother talks, it’s for everyone. now, what u consider a private apparition? are there public ones?
it’s for everyone, it’s up to us to believe or not. lucky of those who believe without seeing? remember these words? or, the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to the little ones.

Perhaps a definition of terms is in order here: Public Revelation is that truth which was revealed to us, by God, through the prophets and Apostles. It stopped, forever, with the death of the Apostle John.

Private revelation is a communication, from God, to a particular individual, that is efficacious for that individual’s personal faith, but is not binding upon anyone else.

You must know the distinction between the two and realize that all apparitions after the Apostolic age are private in nature. However illuminating, spiritual, or universal they may seem, they were intended only for the receiver. Can we benefit from them? Quite possibly. But, it is not required for us to believe in them, or abide by them to be in good standing with the Church. The Church teaches that we need not believe in them for our salvation.

See the CCC, sections 54-58 and 70-71.

Christ’s peace.

some misconceptions out there. when God or Our Lady do speak privately with someone, it’s not just for that person. read the messages, from different apparitions and check for yourself. They clearly are speaking with the church, and the church is us, all of us. like it happened in Fatima. Mary didn’t give instructions just to the little ones, but to the entire world. the same happens with every single apparition. this should be obvious.
someone mentioned conspiracies? they are not conspiracies, my dear friend, they are FACTS. those who are informed, do know about the free masons and communists infiltrated inside the Vatican. it’s not news. plus, it’s communism spreading like Mary said in Fatima, isn’t it? this should be very obvious. and yes, John Paul Ii said he would rather lead the church from medjugorje. it’s another fact. who said the church cannot test an ongoing apparition?
nowadays, if are gonna trust the clergy in relate to apparitions, u may have to wait another 100 years. the way the church is now, that’s impossible. do i have to say again we are living apocalyptic times? read Revelations my friends. see the signs. see the wars, natural disasters, abortions, divorces, homosexualy, cells, everything. values and moral never been so low.
now, do like prophecies? i’ll give u one, coming straigh from “save all souls movement”. Jesus said it, Mary said it and S. Michael Archangel said it.
if u go to Revelations, u’ll find written there 1260. now these are days and are counting. started on 11/09/2008 and will end on 22/02/2012. 22/02 is the day where we celebrate the throne of Peter. coincidence? i don’t think not. what’s gonna happen on that day no one knows, yet. did you know Benedict XVI will have to run away from the vatican? probably because he’s gonna reveal the 3 secret of fatima, which contains the so called conspiracies against the church, coming from within? did u know USA is gonna stop supporting israel in some point? did u know that actually, america is gonna be at war with israel? did u know that the 3 world war is gonna start exactly in israel? could go on and on, based on “save all souls movement”'s messages. did u know that 9/11 was a human ritual? did u know that on that day, started the 7 years mentioned in Daniel? did u know that in the middle on those counting seven years, John Paul II died?
it’s up to those who wanna see that the light will be shown.
i don’t like to speculate about things, i don’t play with serious matters. i’m just lucky that God gave some discernment to see and accept what’s going on right now in the world. to me, it’s cristal clear that Jesus will come soon. personally, i won’t give u 5 years for that to happen.
God bless and take care

OK, my friend… this is going to sound very un-Lutheran of me to say… but don’t we have certain obligations to be submissive to our local bishops, even when we feel like we have a calling not to?

For example, one of those visions of Mary that really shook me at my core, was the Lady of Guadalupe. When the local bishop was dismissive of the vision, Our Lady gave the visionary a sign that completely set him straight… and those visions were the impetus to drive 10’s of 1000’s of indigenous Aztec people (enmeshed in human sacrifice and horrific false religion) to convert to Christianity.

I think Fatima was similar, wasn’t it? Our Lady overcame a hostile or dismissive bishop, and the end effect was thousands of conversions, and enduring witness of a heavenly call to faith and penance.

It would seem odd to me, that Our Lady or Our Lord would give visions that would split the Church, or undermine local ecclesiastical leadership. Now, I could let my Reformation side get the better of me, and run with the notion that we should obey God rather than men, but the Church itself is a divine expression of God and men together… what value would there be in visions splitting the Church or undermining legitimate episcopal authority? Seems to me, when bishops resisted legitimate visions in the past, God got their attention in undeniable ways, and then the local bishop worked with the whole community, in concert with the visionary, to work out the aims of the prophecy or vision. I suppose there could be a totally black hearted and recalcitrant bishop out there somewhere (I think there were some at the time of the Reformation, for that matter) but doesn’t God have a tendency of… pardon the grandmother inspired euphemism… grabbing a knucklehead leader by something that hurts, and not letting him go until his attention is firmly in hand?

Don’t get me wrong-- as a Lutheran Christian, personal conscience is very important to my understanding of the faith… but since people are so easily mislead and deceived through their inherent concupiscence, shouldn’t we have some sense of order with our local bishops? Even in Roman circles, doesn’t the diocesan bishop hold most of the authority for their diocese, especially regarding safeguarding the faith for their people and defending them against false doctrine?

I read through that “save all souls” site… very odd to me, and got my Spidey-sense tingling… and if the local bishop condemned it, I’d be willing to take the good bishop’s opinion on that one. Of course, we’ve been living in the “last days” since Christ’s resurrection, so I wouldn’t be surprise if he came back tomorrow… but this “movement” seems a bit on the sensational side to me, and their “prophecies” don’t all seem to have panned out quite right… and that doesn’t sound like the messages that come from heaven. Might be worth trusting the bishop who’s had the Spirit conferred on him through the Sacrament of Holy Orders, to discern the voice of the Spirit in potential visionaries?

Of course, that doesn’t help with some of these things, where there are dueling bishops with contrary opinions… but there’s only one bishop in charge of a diocese, isn’t there?

Grace and peace.

hello, of course, our obligation is to obey priests ans so. it’s part of our education, that starts at home. how many times did we have to obey our parents, even when sometimes we knew they were wrong? this is part of one of the 10 commandments. i will always obey to any priest, as long as that priest is following the right faith. i’ll give you a practical example. 3 months ago i had a chat with my local priest. in the process, we talked about apparitions. now, he told me he doesn’t give them much attention. towards the end of our conversation, he even told me to try to forget about any apparitions for 6 months. although i obey any priest, do you think i could follow this suggestion? nowadays, there’s a very few priests who actually follow and respect modern prophets. i’ll always obey and respect priests, but above anything else, i’ll obey God. about “save all souls movement”, let me explain something. have you ever heard about Vassula Ryden? True life in God? google it and find out for yourself. it’s going for quite some time. i heard about Claudio Heckert and this movement in a message from Jesus to Vassula. she’s another prophet of our times and the Pope never rejected her case. therefore, this “save all souls movement” sounded and felt very true and real to me. it doesn’t come as a surprise that nowadays, Jesus and Mary are talking to more and more people. this is the final battle. satan is using everything he can to grab souls, so God is doing all He can to save them all. so many people are still sleeping and need to be awaken. this movement is centered in saving souls because today there’s only a few people who pray for the souls in purgatory. in this final battle we need for those souls, so e can have more and more of them in Heaven praying and interceding for us all.
you know, in these matters, i’m not usually fooled just like that. i know that some of the stuff u read in that site might seem a bit unusual, but that’s exactly because we are really in our final days on earth, as we know it. so people need to be alerted so they can prepare themselves and prepare and alert others. the main message is, convert, pray, pray, pray, stay near God and save souls in purgatory. trust me, it’s true and it’s real .
God doesn’t give us messages to divide us. it’s men who divide themselves. i would like to remind you once again, that most of the time, these divisions come exactly from priests, bishops and cardinals. by doing this, they are contributing to souls to be lost. this is in Revelations my friend. it’s just another sign of times. as we are approaching the Kingdom of heaven, more and more the Heavens do talk and warn us. we have to stop, meditate and listen. go to all the messages you know, from different apparitions and read them. they all have one thing in commum. convert, pray, stay with us, the Kingdom in near.
just to finish, let me say something about brazil. i know this cos i’m portuguese and i’m more aware of what’s going on there. although brazil is, probably, the biggest catholic country in the world, it’s been devastated for quite some time by all sorts of sects and cults. don’t be surprised if you hear that the local bishop is against those apparitions. in terms of priesthood in general, south america is the most rebellian continent in the world. several clerical people have been excomungated. brazil is no exception. i’m aware of the huge battle good priests are having to maintain good doctrines, teachings and faith. a huge number of priests in brazil are following the so called new age, heretic movement you might have heard before.
no matter what, always follow what the Pope says, and he never rejected this movement.
and once again, be advised that Benedict XVI is the last true Pope on earth. when you’ll see the next one sat in rome, that one will be the anti-pope, the one who will be chosen by free masons and communists infiltrated and the one who will pave the way to the antichrist . they might even say that he died for example. don’t believe that. it was said that he will run from the vatican to escape assassination (remember john paul I), but he will be traveling around the world (for 7 months) to confuse his persecutors. Our Lady said She will be with him at all times. when this happens, you will witness the 3 world war and the rising of the antichrist. this antichrist will have a powerful reign but a very short one. could tell you lots of things more, but maybe another time.
you stay well and take care

I appreciate your passion in this. Like all warnings, I usually perk my ears up and listen… but I’m also aware that all informaiton and warnings are not equal. I’ve been keeping my eyes open for the signs of the times, but like all Christian generations before us, we have the challenge to accomplish the work given into our hands right now, and to serve the people around us. While it is good to be attentive to the state of the world, we have a greater duty to serve in the place where we are. That’s been a tough lesson for me to learn over the years.

Perhaps your priest is giving some good advice-- a little time spent meditating on the work of Christ nearer to you, might help you with perspective on the grander issues.

As for me, again, I thank you for your observations. I don’t want to be dismissive of true prophecy, nor taken in by charletans… so I’ll keep my eyes open and my ears perked up, and if I see any running Popes, I’ll certainly take notice. And regardless of these visions, I will still continue to encourage the people God has given to my care toward faith, prayer, and penance. For the time being, I’ll leave the Purgatory efforts to the Romans… 😉

Grace and peace to you.
Brad

OK, my friend… this is going to sound very un-Lutheran of me to say… but don’t we have certain obligations to be submissive to our local bishops, even when we feel like we have a calling not to?
Yes, we do. We must remember that God has placed him in that position for a valid reason. Now, some take convincing, as at Guadalupe. We also see that the convincing did come and that the truth prevailed.
For example, one of those visions of Mary that really shook me at my core, was the Lady of Guadalupe. When the local bishop was dismissive of the vision, Our Lady gave the visionary a sign that completely set him straight… and those visions were the impetus to drive 10’s of 1000’s of indigenous Aztec people to convert to Christianity.
The fruits of the vision have proven the truth of it. God’s truth was revealed, even to the heart of the Bishop who was not at that time disposed to believe in it. Well, he believed in the end, after some Heavenly proof.
I think Fatima was similar, wasn’t it? Our Lady overcame a hostile or dismissive bishop, and the end effect was thousands of conversions, and enduring witness of a heavenly call to faith and penance.
What occurred was that even many unbelievers and secular/pagan individuals saw the manifestations of the sun. This was reported through the press of the day, members of which also saw the miracle of the sun’s rays. Thus, many were converted and the truth was served.
It would seem odd to me, that Our Lady or Our Lord would give visions that would split the Church, or undermine local ecclesiastical leadership. Seems to me, when bishops resisted legitimate visions in the past, God got their attention in undeniable ways, and then the local bishop worked with the whole community, in concert with the visionary, to work out the aims of the prophecy or vision. I suppose there could be a totally black hearted and recalcitrant bishop out there somewhere…
I think this is exactly what happened. The pattern was set long ago when the Hebrews demanded signs so that they might believe. Well, the signs were given, and some still did not believe. The Pharisees demanded signs of Christ, and he gave them no sign, save for the sign of the Prophet Jonah - which was long past. In the case of non-believing Bishops, the proof is shown to them, causing them to believe. The Lord still must lead his fallible Bishops into all truth.
Yes, the Bishop or Archbishop has full responsibility for the Diocese, subject to the greater authority of the whole Church. It is clear that many of us have our doubts and must be convinced. Bishops, being made of the same stuff as us, also need an occasional push to believe what the Lord is saying. However, on a normal basis, we defer to their authority. In the matters of the visions, however, it was not a situation where the yes or no from the Bishop settled the matter, since he was not the ultimate, heavenly authority on the matter, just the local authority. And, in each case, his eyes have been opened by the truth.
Scripture is replete with references to false christs and false prophets. It is in this vein that all such visions and claims of prophecy must be judged. The evil one sends visions that may be 99% true. It is that remaining 1% that does his foul work of leading the faithful astray.
Of course, that doesn’t help with some of these things, where there are dueling bishops with contrary opinions… but there’s only one bishop in charge of a diocese, isn’t there?
Grace and peace.
In any diocese, there will not be dueling Bishops. Thee will be an Archbishop over any other Bishops within the Diocese. They defer to the Archbishop. Disagreement might occur during debate or argument over the validity of an alleged vision in a church council or other group of Bishops charged with the responsibility to determine the truth. Within each diocese, there is but one Archbishop or Bishop in charge. Fellow Bishops are from other Dioceses over which they are in charge, and will not normally dispute the findings of their neighboring Bishops. Not to say this has not occurred, as there is almost a 2,000 year Church history and almost anything has occurred, somewhere on earth, in that amount of time.

You are a seeker of the truth, which is a grace from God. Always seek the truth and it will be revealed to you.

Christ’s peace be with you.

Interesting story on this subject from the Vatican… appears Pope Benedict XVI is getting ready for a crack down…

britainnews.net/story/453128

I think it will be interesting to see how the rest of the Catholic world reacts to the Pope’s attempts to mollify the fervor of some of these areas where so much heated debate exists between visionaries and local bishops. Sounds like Rome is about to practice some tough love…

… hope it doesn’t inspire any large groups to send him running from the Vatican…

Cheers.

Perfect timing, in my opinion. False prophets have been written about for millennia. References to them are in Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Micah, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and the letters from both Peter and John. False Christs have been warned against in Matthew and Mark. Paul warned specifically against “false witnesses” “false apostles” and “false brothers”.

I think it is high time for a crackdown, since the influence of the evil one ever advances in our world, which is under his control. Simply put, those who lead the faithful astray into disobedient cults are demon-lead. The Holy Spirit always unites. The demon always divides.

Just as each serial killer has copycats, so now does each true visionary (or even false visionaries) have numerous copycats. Media attention is immediately focused on all of the sensational and disobedient visionaries and “prophets”, since that makes news. It sells papers and tabloids and gains the all-important viewers for TV programs. Someone who is obedient to the Church does not make the news. The only cost is to the truth.

This is a very sad commentary on our culture, which is so devoid of substance, so lacking in a faith foundation that it must turn to lies and fabrications to experience a sense of spiritual growth or self-worth. You and I both have the grace to know how valuable we are to God, and we need not seek anything but 100% truth. So many are easily lead astray and it is time for Church authorities to shoulder up to the hard task of discerning spirits. it has become almost a lost gift. Almost.

Yes, we are living in very interesting times, and the last day for each of us is coming. Let’s prepare and try to be ready. Amen!

Christ’s peace.

luis_rcoelho: and yes, John Paul Ii said he would rather lead the church from medjugorje. it’s another fact. who said the church cannot test an ongoing apparition?

JL: Not to be smart but what is the source for JPII’s statement? I have read some years ago, in one of those books on Medjugorje, JPII said, let people go there if they are praying more and it builds faith, or words to that effect. However I don’t really know if JP actually said anything of the sort. I think a lot of rumors and misinformation gets about, concerning apparitions. I have been to Medjugorje twice and have had good experiences. I am inclined to believe it is authentic. but I don’t base my faith on it. Also there is no doubt in my mind through the prayers and help of Our Lady of Fatima, I became Catholic in 73.

luis_rcoelho: if u go to Revelations, u’ll find written there 1260. now these are days and are counting. started on 11/09/2008 and will end on 22/02/2012. 22/02 is the day where we celebrate the throne of Peter. coincidence? i don’t think not. what’s gonna happen on that day no one knows, yet.

JL: There were also similar things being said for the year 2000 and now because of the Mayan prophecy for 2012 or 2014 something apocalyptic is supposed to happen during that time. I wouldn’t base my life and faith on those dates. By the way are you Portuguese?

luis_rcoelho: did you know Benedict XVI will have to run away from the vatican? probably because he’s gonna reveal the 3 secret of fatima,

JL: Again I have read JPII would have to flee Rome before 2000.

The last secret of Fatima was released and publicly read at mass, in Fatima Portugal in 2000, when Francisco and Jacinta were beatified by JPII, with sister Lucia and 750 thousand others present. I was fortunate enough to have been there also. The other two secrets were revealed around 1941, I think.

jlhargus, yes, i’m portuguese. now that you ask, are u british?
all those questions marks about what i said r understandable, i know that. all that i wrote comes from that movement i did talk about. u have to remember that every new apparition people get suspicious and it’s normal to happen. happened in fatima for example. in these brazilian apparitions there’s loads and loads of new revelations, some quite hard to understand. but remember another thing, my friend, our ways are not Gods ways. that is written on the Bible and They have been saying it all along.i’ll start when u said things should have happened in 2000. u know what? that’s absolutely true. Our Lady always said it. are u aware of Mary’s apparitions to father gobbi? in those, it’s very clear that everything would “change” in 2000, with John Paul II and She was very clear about all the conspiracies inside the vatican. now, what only a very few know, is that in fact, in the very end, JP II was killed. how? as u remember, he was very ill. a doctor from the vatican said he needed a operation in the neck, to help the air way or something like that. he didn’t needed anything by the way. a lady, who works in the vatican, as soon as she new about this, she said, “they’ve killed him”. apparently, it’s some king of intervention that doesn’t have much success. he lasted longer than they though, but neverthless, he died. funny, the doctor who operated him, was exactly the same who provided the poison who killed JP I . there’s a Jesus message that starts " he was eliminated." now,we both know that God doesn’t eliminate anyone, He calls people to his presence to be judged. but yes, God made a change of times, only God know all the reasons, but one of them is, within all Gods mercy, He knew that millions of people weren’t prepared for this event(end of times). see, even i wasn’t prepared, so i say thanks every single day now. but this time is different, cos the time is counting and that details didn’t happen before. TIME IS COUNTING. when i say end of times, means that and not end of the world. the earth will still exist, only changed, purified.
yes, the last Pope was supposed to be JP II, but now it’s Benedict XVI. even last week he approved a directive saying that the vatican no longer follows the italian laws, cos they go against the catolic values, aka, abortions, homosexuality, divorces, etc. did u know that? he’s standing strong against everyone and everything. good on him. he’s the key for everything that’s gonna happen in the near future. follow his steps. for example, i told u that america is gonna stop supporting israel. what u see today in gaza is just the beginning of that campaign. they are making people get used to the idea that israel is gonna be isolated, sooner or later. that’s gonna happen.
if feel very worried because people in general don’t listen to what God is saying today. even the other day i was talking with one of my sisters on the phone, and although she believes in fatima, she doesn’t care about brazil. and sometimes i ask, why? God never stoped talking with us, specially through Our Lady. i know nowadays there’s loads of people falsely claiming that they have some sort of revelations, but we have to know where is the difference, how and why. i feel worried that things are really coming and people are still asleep, even catholics, even when they believe in fatima and other apparitions. read garabandal and fatima. just those two. put things together. and then try to read a bit of “save all souls movement”. see if u can find any different in terms of doctrine, faith, teachings, even the way Mary speaks. it’s all the same cos they came all from the same person, the Virgin Mary.
i know it’s gonna be hard for u to believe, but at least give yourself a chance. give Our Lady a chance. i’m not deluded jlhargus. honest. i hope u see and feel what i’m seeing and feeling.
it’s been a pleasure talking with you.
God bless and take care

Careful! This is getting close to admitting that the gates of hell have prevailed against Christ’s church.

Maybe not, but please realize that we live in the princedom of the evil one. His demons are constantly at work to delude us and lead us away from the truth and obedience. He does so, not by gross distortions, but by tiny, almost imperceptible deviations from the truth. Remember from Genesis that the serpent was the “most subtle” of all the creatures. Subtlety is exactly how he works. As I said, it’s not the 99% truth that he tells us about, it’s the 1% lie that he uses to lead us away and astray. Please use all caution.

Public revelation stopped, and was 100% complete, once the Apostle John died. The entirety of the deposit of faith is more than sufficient for our salvation, which is all we should be concerned with, rather than just spectacular “revelations”. They must be tested, as all spirits must be tested. Who established the authority on earth to test the spirits? Jesus Christ through His Church. I advise all patience and caution to be used, as satan has lead so many astray. Cautions are sprinkled throughout scripture.

Christ’s peace, my brother.

Careful! This is getting close to admitting that the gates of hell have prevailed against Christ’s church.

this will never happen. i’m well aware of what satan can do or not. i’ve been reading lots of stuff about that. the latests texts about satan and exorcisms comes from father amorth. he is the oficial exorcist in the vatican. i think u might find some vids about him on youtube. yes, what u say about satan is true. not many people are aware of this unfortunately. about what i said relating JP II, don’t be surprised. they’ve done the same with JP I. John Paul II was shot in italy remember? what many people don’t know neither is that he was seconds of being stabbed in portugal, in fatima. don’t remember the year. it was on the news and everything. apparently it was a “priest”, that they found out later, was a communist that infiltrated the church, via a seminary. he studied to became a priest just to attack the church. there r lots of them. so, don’t be surprised. it doesn’t mean hell is prevailing.
soon, the antichrist will have his short reign. it doesn’t mean he will prevail over the church. Jesus said that will never happen.
remember, until Jesus comes for the second time, we will have to endure terrible things. Earth and men will have to be purified. for that to happen, God will allow satan to reign for a short period of time. satan will cause lots of destruction, on earth and to men . we will have a new earth, but first earth has to be nearly destroyed. you see, satan without knowing is helping God to fulfill His Divine plan. remember two things:
1 - good things are caused by God, therefore bad ones are caused by satan. God never creates or causes bad things, He’s love. how could He do such things? impossible. these bad things caused by satan, only happen with Gods authorization. u know that, don’t u? satan doesn’t do anything without Gods permission.
2 - because the majority of people don’t want God in their lives, more and more Gods stays away from men, leaving them to experience what’s life without Him. being like that, no wonder there’s more and more killings, divorces, fights, abortions, naturals disasters, global warming, starvation, wars, heresies, poverty, child abuses, prostitution and so on. an endless list of really bad stuff. when God stays away, who’s gonna take full advantage? satan, of course. so, more and more, slowly, with God permission , due to mens lack of faith, satan in building his empire, which it’s gonna culminate with the so called “declaration day”. the day the antichrist will declare himself to the world. this will happen in the middle of the 3 world war, not far away now.
look, many more i could say, but i’ll leave u for now, giving u this link:

read it well and i think u will understand better where i’m coming from.
take care and God bless you, my friend

It is all well and true. However, as stbruderklaus has said, we cannot sit and wait for the last day while those around us go without. My “end times” is the day on which I draw my last breath. There is no sign in the sky for that, unless something heavy falls on me!

Each of the Apostles, as well as Saint Paul and all of the early disciples thought that they were living in the last days. That did not make them sit and wait, or study the visions that were being received. On the contrary, they worked all the harder.

End times study can indeed be fascinating, but we must work right up to that day.

Christ’s peace.

hi hello again. i understand what u r saying. it’s even in the Bible and God said it, that one of the main apostasies in these days is ignoring the Spirit of God. in the Old Testament God spoke through the prophets. when God speaks with prophets, He uses the Holy Spirit, as it happened in the New Testament as well. nowadays, starting with clergymen , most everyone is ignoring this same Spirit. it’s just another sign that Gods cup of wrath is filled. what happens when God is not heard anymore? true what u said about the apostles, they indeed thought the end times was in their days. but now, everyone thinks either Revelations is a nice story in the Bible or it will happen well in the future. i ask? why not now? or are people in general to afraid to accept this fact. it’s not a bad thing, you know. it will be the greatest event men could ever experience. we have to make sure we are in tune with God and take is side on this battle. the more people are awaken the better.satan doesn’t sleep.
stay well

jlhargus, yes, i’m portuguese. now that you ask, are u british?
I am American. I really don’t have a response to your post. I would just caution you to test all things. We are best prepared, for any event, by following the teachings Christ gives us, through those he has set in place. I think your priest gave you the best advise. God bless you.
