I know she may be OK to look at, being a beauty queen and all that, but methinks you are making more out of this character than reality would commend. Ringil
Sarah, in her defense, signed into law ACES which brought much more money into the state (a progressive severance tax on north slope oil). The oil companies and Romney type GOP do not like her for this and consider this akin to socialism. I think it was a good move and I am benefiting by not having to pay state income tax and we receive a PFD every year worth about $800/person for our family.

You know, I heard something about that.

Any move to stand up to Big Oil is a good move in my book.

But then she’s all “Drill Baby Drill!!”

And haven’t you guys been getting paid for living in AK for years now- even before her?

I do know that she is not popular, in general, among the Alaskan people.

I think its worth pointing out that she won her governor’s race in 2006 48% to 40%.

And from Wiki:

She took office on December 4, 2006, and maintained a high approval rating throughout her term

I don’t suppose many would stand up to the criticism and scrutiny that she received during the 2008 race and after. (although I think she earned some of the criticism). I highly doubt that Obama would be looking so calm and cool (and re-elected) if the press scutinized him the way they did Palin. Then again, the press is in the tank for Obama.

Well Palin was Palin and invited some of the criticism by her goofy behavior and over-the-top comments. “grizzly bear”, "“Bulldog with lipstick”, “this is the REAL America”, “Drill Baby Drill”.

I don’t know what McCain was thinking. . . . . He’s generally a pretty smart guy.

You know there is a “Palin Rifle” which is white, pink, and covered with stars made in her honor and given at an NRA event? Here’s the article. 🙂

articles.nydailynews.com/2009-05-04/news/17923960_1_sarah-palin-collapsible-stock-war-zones

Now tell me, you think that is gonna get some attention from the media. It’s comic GOLD!! you can’t make this stuff up it so out there.

Palin and her stint in the public eye will be remembered for decades due to it’s unprecedented level of singular oddness.

Everyone up here is “Drill Baby Drill”, which I agree is a pretty stupid slogan. It was coined by G. Gordon Liddy. The PFD was started to put money aside of the future of Alaskans when the oil dries up. Dividends of this fund are given out to the residents of Alaska on a yearly basis.

Believe it or not, she was ran as a reform candidate and was pretty popular. But she was also very hated by a small but vocal group of people. She wasn’t ready for the White House and her Trans-Canada gas pipeline deal wasted around $500 million dollars.

Parnell, her replacement, is a former Mobile oil lobbyist and is trying to give money back to the oil industry up here. It’s pathetic.

Thanks for the inside scoop.

But like I said or asked. Haven’t you guys been getting paid every year for more than a decade. I thought it was like $2000 a year. I could be totally wrong.

I think the dividends started in 1982. It varies year to year depending on how well the fund in managed and obviously the economy. This year was only around $800. It has been as high as $1,900 (not for me).

That last one is particularly galling. Susan Rice graduated as valedictorian of her class at the National Cathedral School in Washington, graduated Phi Beta Kappa Summa Cum Laude from Stanford University in California, was a Rhodes Scholar, and earned a PhD from Oxford University. In comparison to John Sidney McCain who graduated 894th out of 899 from Annapolis after getting in as a legacy riding on his father’s and grandfather’s coattails. He has some nerve questioning anyone’s intellect–especially after picking Sarah Palin as a running mate.
Ah yes, because credentialed people hold such moral positions. He was right to question her position on the issue here. The irony is you are guilty of doing what you accuse him of doing.

BTW, there are many today educated beyond their intelligence particularly in the government and academics.

Perhaps you should cite it here so we can see what Jindal really said. If he actually said Obama didn’t “buy” votes, or at least (perhaps most) the perception of their being forthcoming, then I would be obliged to disagree with that conclusion.

That’s all Obamacare really is, and nobody could read the posts in here defending it to think otherwise. To clarify, in my opinion, Obamacare creates the “perception” of a gift, but is really not one. It’s like an “anti-gift”, but many a poster in here has said it is a wonderful thing, and praise obama for it. Many, unfortunately, have said how they expect it to benefit them, when it probably won’t.

Not long ago, my wife spoke to a woman who actually thought Obamacare ensured her Medicare’s continuation, and she was going to vote for Obama because of it. Amazing!

Many women have spoken up in favor of the HHS Mandate as if it was manna from heaven somehow. But a cheap “gift” it is, and certainly not worth one’s allegiance. But many bought into the notion that it is.

Call me cynical but I think they want to help promote John Kerry to the Secretary position so that a Democrat Senate seat is freed up for them.

That’s no cynicism, that’s recognizing how the game is played.

More left-wing propaganda beating the race and gender card.

Even after your side wins an election, you just can’t help it, can you?

ooooooo…look out everyone! We’ve all got to bow :bowdown2::bowdown: before the great valedictorians and the Oxford grads! Us simpletons need such “enlightened” leaders! :rotfl:

They’re so smart!

If Susan Rice is so smart, why did she screw up on Benghazi? If Oxford grads are so intelligent, why was this one reduced to covering the tracks of a scandal that killed four Americans?

I don’t think I’d be going after Palin so hard with Joe Biden as the VP in my party…😃

Sarah Palin energized the base and did her part. She’s the only VP and I’d take her over an Oxford, Harvard or Yale grad anytime anywhere.

In fact, Palin could probably teach business, economics or media relations at Harvard, Yale or Oxford.

Besides, even I’ve beaten Ivy Leaguers before.

What to know of people who follow in their parents coattails? Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and John Rockefellar (D-WV) among other democrats who’ve never had a working man’s job in their lives.
Black people do not eschew voting for Republicans because of those mythical “gifts.” They don’t vote for Republicans in large numbers because they know exactly what these wolves in sheeps clothing support!
So now you speak for all Black people?

Could it be they vote D because democrats (who had KKK members as Senators, BTW ) ran around the South telling them their churches would burn to the ground if they voted republican and that there is a mentality that they “betray their race” if they vote republican?

Wolves in sheep’s clorthing? are you calling people names??

Besides, blacks are 13% of the population and heading towards 10%. If anyone acts racist, it’s African Americans in general.
If they want to play around with the race card, I’m game. I’ve lived in downtown DC and Detroit and according to liberal values, I could regard myself as a victim in more ways than one based on their class divisions and I don’t mean economic.

=SouthCatholic;10024142]Quite frankly, most African Americans could care less about pro-lifers raging about abortion. That issue was not one that was going to resonate with black voters.
Evidently, you didn’t see this:

freedomoutpost.com/2012/09/black-pastor-brings-down-righteous-indignation-on-democrat-party/

theblaze.com/stories/pastor-offers-fiery-rebuke-of-fellow-blacks-end-your-slavish-devotion-to-the-democrat-party/
If the GOP wants to attract black voters, they should try actually talking to black voters to find out what issues are important to them.
And do you think the democrats are just going to stand by and let that happen?

Let’s say I call myself a GOP strategist. I see African-Americans and Jewish voters as monolithic. I also see your population getting dwarfed by Hispanics, Mormons, Asians and Muslims, which are not monolithic voting groups and can and have voted for the GOP in huge numbers before.

What should I do?
I can tell you that arguing that black voters don’t vote for the GOP because they are too ignorant about what is in their best interests will do nothing to convince black voters to come over to your side.
The GOP doesn’t think the like the left or Bill Cosby. We don’t see races and groups of people competing against each other, we see people----ALL people—competing in the free market with fair rules and a reasonable safety net.
Your posts (and others) reek of an attitude that blacks are too immature to determine and act on their own political beliefs.
If you’re going to make accusations, cite specific examples or do us all (including yourself) a favor and keep your mouth shut.
That attitude is paternalistic, insulting, and off-putting. Continuing to spout the things you have posted in this thread BroomWagon will do nothing but continue to turn black voters off to your point-of-view! But go ahead and keep talking if it makes you feel better!
I think you’re just mad because BroomWagon doesn’t drink the koolaid.

Conservatism is about logic and natural law and the Constitution, not emotion.

We’ve tried to reach to Black voters already. Why do you think Herman Cain got so much support before his character was ruthelessly assaulted?

You want the R’s to reach out even more?

Fine.

Then when the elite whites who run the democrat plantation go after our minority candidates, I expect to you defend them resolutely and without fail.

Otherwise, stop wasting our time.

The same things could probably be said about freedomoutpost and theblaze that are often said about democraticunderground and slate in these forums. I’ll leave it to you to figure out what that is.

And I think South Catholic isn’t obliged to “shut up,” either—unless the forum master tells him that. Did you get promoted to that post, SL?

What do you mean COULD PROBABLY BE???

Did you even bother to look at the links in our conservation?

The difference is that the blaze.com has the original video. As does freedomoutpost.

They are only the messenger and people can watch the video of the pastor which speaks for itself.

If you’re not willing to dig a little deeper, I suggest you refrain from posting about it. You’re setting yourself up for embarrassment. :yup:

Naturally, since you agree with the original poster, you give him a free pass on the vitriol he’s writing.

And I never told anyone to “shut up”.

More evidence you didn’t read what I write.
Did you get promoted to that post, SL?
Nice try.

I didn’t need one, and I’d rather show some tough love than whining to admin every time someone says something offensive or stupid.

If you were as knowledgeable and clever as you think you are, you’d know there aren’t any promotions. 😃

And a toothy smile to you, too, SL. Along with a sardonic wink. :D;)

Cannot two things happen at the same time? They want Kerry out and Rice and friends are incompetent?
