Mother Miriam will be in Cherokee Village, AR ST. Michael’s next Saturday the 12th for the Magnificat Luncheon -sorry only for women. It is close to the Missouri border near Jonesboro, AR. You might still be able to get a ticket - its around $12.00. Check with the church office (870) 257-2850.

yeah a lady from my former parish, the DRE actually, joined this community. It took a couple of years but she was very excited about it and I’m sure she’s really enjoying it.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen anyone from the Buffalo OCDS group (my last retreat was in October 1999). The only one I remember at present is a lady whose first name was Gail…last name was a long one beginning with the letter ‘R’. She was working for something called ‘St. Luke’s Mission’.

From October 1999 to January 2000 I had to undergo some very intense evaluations (verbal as well as written) in preparation for my Final Promise in February. I ended up not being accepted for it, and was ‘charitably dismissed’ from the OCDS. My last meeting was in February, when I would have been professed. The spiritual director and the formation director determined that I had no vocation to the OCDS, in spite of coming faithfully to the meetings for six years.

I wish you better luck in getting accepted as a novice, Shoshana! 👍

God willing, barb, God willing…who knows? Just got back from our week-end retreat, silent on the whole…we meet with the conuncil in two weeks to see if we are accepted as a novices…:o

Thanks eremata for the two new emails. Needless to say, I tried them already.
👍:

I finally talked to someone who was able to help. She is mailing me info and applications. Whoohoo! Praise God for His kindness.

According to what Mother Miriam said on EWTN- the “Come & See” visits will begin in January, after the construction of the new rooms is finished. God bless the increase!:nun1::extrahappy:

“Come and See” weekends will begin in mid-July with 5 applicants at a time and continuing through August. After that, Mother Miriam will select just a few (not sure…maybe 5) for a return visit of 2 weeks. All who have applied will be considered. There’s a very interesting YouTube video of Mother being interviewed on EWTN by Father Mitch Pacwa. It’s from October 2011. Very informative. The habit appears to be traditional Benedictine.🙂

I was told her community closed…does any have an
update
The community is still in the early phases of taking shape, but it’s “alive and well”. Check the latest newsletter for details.

The community did, however, “close” and move from Saint Louis, Missouri to Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the invitation of Bishop Edward Slattery. That transition period may have led to some confusion and caused some people to think it closed for good.

Thanks for clarifying…I did email…but haven’t heard back yet

Maybe that’s why I haven’t heard from them…hmm
I think I will start my own community…no age limit, will wear habit and community prayer, liturgy of the hours , working with those in need
The Lord is calling…women of all ages

How many times have I and my best friend talked about that? And I even tried a (fraudulent) traditional convent that said they took older vocations several years ago–heartbreaking, just heartbreaking. After three months, lots of money, much loss of material things, I nearly lost my faith, but gained some wisdom and forgiveness.

My friend and I have searched for years and visited several places (traditional) - and now that I am 66, I’ve kind of given up, really.

But good luck to you.
