Incorrect. I see that.Miles, you are failing to see that St Pius X was pope during the Latin era and the vernacular was not used.

What does that have to do with it? Or are you still of the mindset that Catholics during the time of the Latin Mass did not understand what the Mass was about simply because of the fact that it was in latin?Miles, you are failing to see that St Pius X was pope during the Latin era and the vernacular was not used.

And he could have been giving them busy work. All you are doing is repeatedly stating an opinion contrary to that of a canonized pope. He is extremely likely to be superior to you in knowledge about matters theological, philosophical, and liturgical.
We get it. That’s what you think.
If they did really fully understand what was going on, fully able to participate, there would be no promotion of any private personal devotion during it.What does that have to do with it? Okay, let’s just adopt your method of argument. Have a taste. If they did really fully understand what was going on, fully able to participate, there would be no promotion of any private personal devotion during it.
It is better to only focus on the Mass and not introduce anything extra as the Mass is not deficient in any way.Okay, let’s just adopt your method of argument. Have a taste.
It’s good to pray the Sorrowful Mysteries during Mass.
Between the prayers of the Mass, after receiving Communion and waiting for everyone else, is there a better way to reflect on the Sacrifice you just witnessed?Miles,I will grant you that. BUT what is better? Nothing less than full participation of the mass, the highest form of prayer that exists. If you accept that, which you should, than why detract from it by lack of participation?

Who is to say what is better… for you or Eilish or Miles or myself? Who is to say that my occasional practice of the Eucharistic Rosary is not helping me to come to a deeper understanding and closer union with Christ in his sacrifice at Calvary? If, for you, it is a distraction from the sacrifice, then surely it is not something you should do.Miles,I will grant you that. BUT what is better? That seems like a very patronizing statement about priests. Poor priest, he’s worked so hard at his sermon, the least we can do is listen to him.You could say a Rosary during the priest’s sermon - (But don’t tell him I said so! After all, they do work hard at preparing their sermons each week.) It’s just out of courtesy to the priest that I’d say - hold off on the Rosary until end of Mass. If you won’t have the time, say it during the sermon.
Seems it is something that, if truly brings you closer, should be done before mass as preparation.Who is to say what is better… for you or Eilish or Miles or myself? Seems that is probably good advice for yourself, but you cannot and should not presume to understand another’s heart.Seems it is something that, if truly brings you closer, should be done before mass as preparation.
This is not about understanding another person’s heart but about condoning additions to the Mass.Seems that is probably good advice for yourself, but you cannot and should not presume to understand another’s heart.
I could not agree more with this statement, and it is more than opinion, the Saints taught this as well.Miles, it seems that your mind is made up. I think any further “discussion” is pointless. Time after communion is to reflect on who and what you received, thanking God for humbling himself to come to you, (and me), This is a time for reflection on the mystery you have received. I guess if you cannot do that, than the rosary is your answer. I would say, that this is time you should spend pouring out your heart to God, asking him to give you the fullest benefits possible from this great mystery. This is a time of inner reflection on who and what you have received. It should be a time of meditation - contemplation and thanksgiving. For myself, I would find the rosary (which I love and pray daily) a distractiion. I will keep you in my prayers.

Pope St. Pius X, for one, condoned it. You have no authority to either condone or not condone it. Why is it so hard to understand and accept that some people are able to find great spiritual benefit from praying something such as the Eucharistic Rosary at Mass, without it detracting from their worship at the Mass? Your pat refusal to see this seems quite close-minded.This is not about understanding another person’s heart but about condoning additions to the Mass.
Are we to think Pope Pius X found the Mass lacking that this needed to be condoned?Pope St. Pius X, for one, condoned it. You have no authority to either condone or not condone it. Please don’t judge someone who you see praying the Rosary during Mass, because you don’t know their situation or what is in their hearts. You know, there are a lot of times when I will attend a second Mass and use that time to pray the Eucharistic Rosary. If you have tried praying and meditating on the Rosary during the sacrifice of the Mass, and have found it to be distracting, then by all means do not do it. But you have absolutely no right to say that it is wrong for everyone.
Will you please reference where Pope St. Pius X condoned doing the rosarey during Mass. I hope you are right, because I will start doing the rosary during the N.O. when I can’t make it to a TLM.Pope St. Pius X, for one, condoned it.
