I have been very clear in this discussion that the addition was/is a personal private devotional item.
And i also have been very specific. I’m not asking whether or not it was is or will be. I was asking a completely different question.

But you probably knew that.

I’ve noticed that you are very good at avoiding answering specific questions, when answering them could expose flaws in your arguments. That is actually a very good thing in some situations. I assume that you will continue to refuse to answer in this fashion so I will just let it go. Rest assured though that your silence actually speaks volumes.🙂

But don’t worry, your secret is safe with me:thumbsup:

Two popes, ten popes - it does not matter. Either one truly believes the Mass is sufficient in itself or it needs someth
Premise: I believe that the weekly Mass is sufficient

Premise (yours): One should not add to that which is sufficient

Conclusion: It is wrong to attend daily Mass, since weekly Mass is already sufficient.

Patently absurd, QED. Try harder, please.

Yes - your mangling of what has been posted here is absurd.

I have no secret here.

I have been consistant and not allowed others to drag all manner of other issues into this (such as judging the hearts of others etc) or be ‘tricked’ into answering a question that is less than clearly worded.

If you are playing games please do so with someone else.

If you wish to bring another topic there is plenty of bandwidth for a new thread.

As for me - when posting here - I will stick with the topic if that is ok with you.

I am not ‘dodging’ any question - I am however refusing to personalize it just as I have not at any time remarked about persons but the practice of this private devotion.
What’s so personal about asking whether you attend NO or TLM? It does have some bearing on this topic. I will assume that you attend NO, then.
Two popes, ten popes - it does not matter. Either one truly believes the Mass is sufficient in itself or it needs something.
It certainly does matter, especially when one of those popes is a saint. What these popes have advocated certainly doesn’t need to be adopted by anyone who doesn’t care to do so, but you seem to think you know better than them. Hey, I guess that makes you “more Catholic than the Pope.”
If both really felt that strongly they could have written it into the missal and made official and not left as an extra private devotion done when one should really be making every effort to pay attention to the Mass.
Are you serious? “Written it into the missal”? You are making way too much of this than is necessary. It wasn’t a directive, just a suggestion for furthering pious devotion.

I do not believe it has any bearing at all on the topic and that is why I did not and will not answer it.

Or more truly traditional than those who think this is ok.

It is not part of the Mass, period, full stop.

While it makes for a fine pious devotion DURING Mass is not appropriate.

If it was then it could have been written into the missal as an option but it wasn’t. It remains a private devotional practice - one that many of those who have ‘found’ the TLM in the years after Vat II claimed never happened.

You simply refuse to acknowledge that your argument arrives at a ridiculous conclusion, making it invalid. Unfortunate, but hopefully after seeing how nonsensical your argument is, others will be able to avoid being led astray. Congratulations on avoiding substantive debate and responding with the one-liners of a schoolchild.

Thank you for your opinion, but I will trust two very fine popes as to what is appropriate or not.

Could you rephrase that? I don’t understand what it is you mean that “never happened.”

Furthermore, what are your credentials which give you the authority to make such a pronouncement?

As far as “getting personal” goes, no one is asking for your name and address. If you are going to debate publicly, you should be prepared to give others a little insight into yourself, otherwise you come off as being nothing more than a troll.

It is incorrect to ask for credentials, or ask for evidence, or anything else that might inject common sense into a discussion.

I repeat,

It is incorrect to ask for credentials, or ask for evidence, or anything else that might inject common sense into a discussion. Full stop.

Stop making it personal.

Etc.

Fine. As I said, your silence and refusal to engage in debate speaks volumes about your position. I see it and so does just about everyone else here, I would imagine.

You just don’t fool anybody thats all. I’m pretty sure we all see you exactly for what you are. Its no big deal. You are not the first or the last with views such as yourself to come on this forum.

Thought you might be interested in this…The following is taken from A Manual of Religion “MY CATHOLIC FAITH” a Catechism in Pictures.

4. If preferred, a prayer-book may be used at Mass, reading the prayers for Mass, or even other prayers. The five sorrowful mysteries of the Rosary are suitable as Mass devotions, setting forth as they do Our Lord’s Passion.

“My Catholic Faith” is the catechism geared towards the young, but was recommended to me when I first came over to tradition. All material is taken from the No.3 Revised Edition of the Baltimore Catechism, and from the 1941 translation of the New Testament.

What makes you think that catechisms, missals, and statements from canonized Popes have more authority than the opinions of Eilish Maura?

If you are going to make bold statements such as this, please be kind enough to provide the source of your information. The only place I know of that discourages the rosary, not only during Holy Mass, but ALTOGETHER, is the Novus Ordo. Hence, I can draw the conclusion that you assist at the new mass.

I do not condone the use of private devotional practices during the Mass.
There we have a summary of what you keep saying over and over.
You don’t like the idea.

Your opinion doesn’t refute the opinions of members of the hierarchy. You are not going to convince anyone here that has answered the OP’s question correctly, that they are wrong.

You have a right to your opinion of course, but ignoring facts doesn’t add much weight to it.

Carry on though.

Please provide proof that the OF discourages the rosary in any way.

TIA

The only facts here are that two popes (out of how many?) suggested the use of this practice despite its questionable appropriateness.

My staying with what is in the Mass, my defending that it is complete and in no need of any additional private devotional practice is more than just an opinion as seen by the fact that this particular one has not been officially added in any way.

Please provide verifiable information that the HMC teaches that any saint is completely correct in each and every statement made and/or that the HMC instructs us that all items issued by a pope are guaranteed to be without error.

TIA

No I am not interested in any source that encourages supplementing the mass by items to be used when one should be actively participating. It turns the laity into children - why not bring a religious coloring book and a snack while one is at it?
