I just think it’s not a big deal. I didn’t think it was a big deal when Paula Deen said the n word either.
Back in the day, it was impolite, but it wasn’t the unpardonable sin it is today.Maybe not, but that is the risk you take when you use words that are commonly used as racist slurs.
Why should we make insensitivity a goal? Why not aim to be more caring to others?Or maybe everyone can be less touchy
What’s wrong with showing a little sensitivity to Ms. Barr? Should this really be something that she can never recover from? Why should we make insensitivity a goal? Why not aim to be more caring to others?
I’m sure she’ll have work on the future. But racist comments have consequences like losing your personal tv show.Alex337:![]()

If your speech is racist then be prepared for consequences. Free speech has never meant freedom from consequences.Because it stifles speech which further increases the divide when people can’t say what’s on their mind. I don’t consider her speech hate speech, just so I can make that clear. I don’t believe in hate speech
She was interviewed by Hannity last week, so she’s going to try to put pressure on the network to rehire her.I’m sure she’ll have work on the future. But racist comments have consequences like losing your personal tv show.
“Chimp” was regularly used with George W Bush, and a couple others less frequently.“Ape” is a common racist slur. It’s not a racism slur against white people.
That does require the knowledge that the term is racially charged. The number of terms that I’ve learned have such connotations from scandals in recent years is significant . . .Perhaps don’t use radially charged language and people won’t mistake it for racism.
