Don’t be surprised if he still wins…politics trumps religion for some here in the US…that goes for both right and left wing supporters
 
I know a man who is now in his 30’s who got his 16 year old girlfriend pregnant when he was almost 18. By the time her mom found out about the pregnancy, he had turned 18. The mom of the girlfriend wanted him prosecuted for statutory rape. He was able to prove that the child was conceived when he was still 17.

He avoided being on a sex offender list by just a couple of months.

Roy Moore avoided being on a list, or going to jail. But the allegations are really serious.

Our Church is still feeling the repercussions of the sex scandal.

Not that this is universal, but when both people are still in their teens then a “Romeo and Juliet” clause may be applicable. Whether or not such a law is applicable and the allowed gap in age varies from one state to another. There can be cases where one partner is 19 and another is 16 where such a clause is applicable. In some states being able to prove being within a certain distance of age reduces the severity of the action from a felony to a misdemeanor.

Where I live such a clause is applicable if one person is between 14 and 16 and the other is no older than 18. For the older person having sex in this scenario there may be a fine, a “stay away” order, and in some cases up to a year of time served. But there would be no registration as a sexual offender. If the youngest person is 17 then it isn’t considered a statutory rape. If both people are under 18 if its less than a 4 year age difference then it falls within this territory too.

In my state, I’ve actually seen sex offenders on the list for statutory rape.

With this young man, there was a police call and investigation. No charges were filed because of the age of the two at the time of conception.
 
Seriously? We are allowed to use our judgment to make a decision on his character.

Beyond a reasonable doubt is for criminal convictions. No one is denying him freedom. Holding political office is a privilege.

One of the accusers was 14 and claimed he undressed her and fondled her in his home. I believe her. How would she know where he lived unless he brought her there?

Another victim told her sister, her mother and her husband. How could she make up the same story someone else made up over the course of the years, when they didn’t even know each other.

He contacted a girl at her high school.

One would have doubts about a guy like this being a baseball coach.

People step down from public positions all the time for just allegations.

Also regarding criminal charges, his department would have been the one responsible to prosecute them. Many abuse victims never say anything. I know from personal experience. How likely is a young kid able to bring charges against the DA? “You’re just a child and I’m the DA”

If individuals go too much further with these assertions, they could be open to personal lawsuits for slander or worse.

Why is Juanita Broderick truthful? Why is Paula Jones truthful? Why is Harvey Weinstein already condsidered a predator? Where are the criminal convictions?

But Roy Moore needs to be criminally convicted before we think he’s a child predator.

I think yes he was s child predator. Nothing he stands for is worth the damage he’s done. He should have the decency to step down.

That sums it up in a nutshell. Pressing charges against Moore would equate to putting the Fox in charge of the Hen House.

So you’re saying these women are lying. You’re saying that his colleagues at the time and other people in the community are lying.
