Sometimes insensitivity is required to get through. Not only is it insensitive, it’s inaccurate. It takes away from the actual issues of the debate and it polarises the two sides. Instead of having an actual discussion about what gender identity means for certain people, it isolates the different positions and entrenches them further. Piers Morgan has done nothing to stop this because he thrives on controversy and getting people’s backs up. I’m not surprised he called it out because that’s his point in life. To divide, to act as the “voice of reason”, when really he is degrading those suffering.
The position is clear, your gender is an act of DNA. What’s open for vigorous debate is the associated behaviors and I see no reason why males can’t play with dolls or girls with trucks. The debate should be on behaviors and not pretending a DNA derived label isn’t accurate.
