Not only is it insensitive, it’s inaccurate. It takes away from the actual issues of the debate and it polarises the two sides. Instead of having an actual discussion about what gender identity means for certain people, it isolates the different positions and entrenches them further. Piers Morgan has done nothing to stop this because he thrives on controversy and getting people’s backs up. I’m not surprised he called it out because that’s his point in life. To divide, to act as the “voice of reason”, when really he is degrading those suffering.
Sometimes insensitivity is required to get through.

The position is clear, your gender is an act of DNA. What’s open for vigorous debate is the associated behaviors and I see no reason why males can’t play with dolls or girls with trucks. The debate should be on behaviors and not pretending a DNA derived label isn’t accurate.

The story about the 14 year old he met at court and offered to sit with while her mom went to a hearing breaks my heart.

She was vulnerable and a child.

He was a grown man with no business around children.
Nothing wrong with a grown man actually comforting a child or teen,
the problem was it seemed a ruse with him, to other ends.
Getting her to remove her clothes strikes me as a strange form of “comforting”.

At what point does Moore’s behavior get so egregious that these bizarre and in some cases outright horrid defenses finally melt away?

Is this on the right thread?

I don’t think saying “we can all be giraffes” is ever helpful to the debate. It’s hostile enough without making such provocative statements.

You need to work on your reading comprehension.
I indicated comforting a teen at the courthouse could be appropriate and innocuous.
But following up with a date and ‘playing doctor’, very illegal.

My apologies. Didn’t read deeply enough.

You know. I guess men see the World differently.

If I were in a courthouse with my daughter, and a strange man approached and wanted to sit with her while I went into the trial, I would have found it disturbing. I probably would have given an icy “no thank you.”

How can you at first glance tell the difference between a nice person and someone intent on harming your child?

So now you are attacking the mother?!?!

Trump plays down Roy Moore allegations, blasts ‘liberal rival’ in Alabama race

President Trump minimized allegations of sexual misconduct against Republican Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore Tuesday, telling voters not to support Moore’s Democratic opponent.
He finally did it. Not surprised.

Roy Moore’s campaign produces ‘evidence’ to undermine his two accusers

Speaking at a press conference in Alabama, Moore's former chief of staff Ben Dupree said Leigh Corfman, one of several women who have come forward with allegations against Moore, was lying when she claimed the former judge would pick her up around the corner from her mother’s house when she was barely a teenager and take her back to his home.
“Corfman claims that Moore picked her up around the corner from her house. However, according to public records, we’ve been able to find that Corfman’s supposed pick-up place was more than a mile away from her mother’s house,” Dupree said, claiming that Corfman was living with her father at the time.
The Moore campaign also went after Beverly Young Nelson, who accused the Alabama Republican of sexually assaulting her in his vehicle outside of a restaurant she worked at when she was 15. During the press conference where she first accused Moore of foul play, Nelson produced a yearbook that she claimed he signed, but Moore's staff said that signature was faked.
“One of our attorneys pointed out that the message in the yearbook had been altered or faked to mock Moore’s signature,” Moore campaign spokesman Stan Cooke told reporters. “[Nelson’s attorney Gloria] Allred has refused to release the yearbook and she said on MSNBC that even if the yearbook entry was altered, it would not impact the integrity of the allegation.”
The staffer said details of Nelson’s story were inconsistent with what employees of the diner she worked at had told Moore’s campaign.
“Former waitresses at the Old Hickory House restaurant said employees had to be 16 years old. And the dumpsters [where Nelson claimed Moore parked his car and tried to assault her] were located to the side, not to the back,” Cooke said.

“Nelson claimed that Judge Moore came in every night and sat at the counter, but employees told us that regular customers who sat at the counter were served by the short order cook and almost never interacted with the wait staff," he added.

How did you get that?

With my life experience I wouldn’t trust a stranger with my child.

The mom thought he was being nice. Back in the seventies people I guess we’re not aware that predators were prevalent.

So, his defense is that the one girl he allegedly sexually assaulted was showing ‘increasingly destructive behavior’ before she had her encounter with Moore, which tells me nothing except that she would be vulnerable to a pedophile because she was seeking attention and the other girl he allegedly sexually assaulted he wouldn’t have interacted because waitresses don’t talk to customers at the counter because there is a force field or something.

Yep, totally innocent.

Custody records are supposed to be confidential. Who opened her file?

That’s why victims don’t come forward.

Even if she did live with her father, she still had a mother whom she could have had visitation with. All divorced parents that I know have visitation with their children if they don’t have custody.

Yep. There must have been a magic force field keeping Mr. Moore away from all the waitresses.

I don’t actually know a lot about this story in terms of he details of the allegations, but what evidence could Moore or his team present, 40 or so years later after the allegations claimed to have taken place, that would definitively prove his innocence, if he is innocent that is?

The biggest problem here is talking about this scandal as if it is a trial. It is not. Notions like presumption of innocence don’t have to apply in a political scandal, and certainly the Republicans in their turn had absolutely no problem invoking all kinds of unproven allegations, some with a heckuva lot less corroboration than we’re seeing from Moore’s chasing teenagers back in the day.
