And that culture is “Southern Baptist”( It is not Catholic. ) It has Cafeteria morals.
This may surprise you, but it’s very Christian to forgive people who have reformed and changed their ways. For misdemeanor crimes they see no need to act punitively on things done in the distant past. People who have not changed their ways will have an ongoing trail of criminal behavior.

Yes, and what was the next recorded criminal thing he did after these accusations (The last one being in the 90s)?

He put a monument of the Ten Commandments in the Rotunda of the Judicial Building. He violated the law of the First Amendment.

Then he committed 2 more violations after that which resulted him being removed from office TWICE!!!

Sexual assault of a child is a felony.
Nope, first charged offense is a class A misdemeanor in Moore’s scenario (teen, not a child).

They raise it to a felony if you are a repeat offender before the court, as they should.

It’s really up to Leigh Corfman to forgive.

He hasn’t even apologized. He called her a liar.

You are a very good tapdancer

We were talking about rule of law.

Yes I hope the one who is lying seeks forgiveness.

Here’s my source, and a quote

As it was in 1979, the legal age of consent in Alabama is 16. Alabama law says a person commits the crime of sexual abuse in the second degree if he is older than 19 and subjects another person between the ages of 12 and 16 to sexual conduct. The first offense is a Class A misdemeanor, subject to up to a year in jail and a $6,000 fine; subsequent offenses committed within a year are Class C felonies, with sentences ranging from a year to 10 years in prison and fines of up to $15,000.

We are talking about the lecherous and scandalous abuse of an vulnerable young girl.

He hasn’t apologized.

I believe her.

FYI, ‘young girl’ is general used to refer to the 1-6yr old age range.

Are you for real?

Seriously?

You are picking on my use of words young girl. 14 is young and she was a girl.

And a 32 year old picked her up around the corner of her home, and brought her to his home, undresssed her, fondled her and guided her hand to fondle him.

That is what should offend you. Not my use of words.

Armchair judge and jury.
Well, let’s make sure you weigh in whenever someone judges the criminal behavior of others. There is a lot of Hillary should be in jail going around based on the obvious crimes she supposedly committed - feel free to step in and comment on that.
I don’t comment on demand.

Proper use of language is very important. The criminal charges of abusing a ‘young girl’ are much more severe than in this case.

The real question is why you are so intent on misrepresenting the situation with your language.

So the implication is that she’s a liar, and has made up this story for no reason whatsoever for 40 years.

Do you have a 14 year old? Do you know any? Ask them the name of the DA. Also, ask them where they live.

YWhy are YOU so intent in proving that what he did doesn’t matter?

Do you have kids?

Do you have a wife?

What would you tell her if she shared a similar story with you?

O honey it didn’t matter coz 14 wasn’t young, and it was a misdemeanor anyway? And it happened so long ago. You must be lying.

That is citing:
Sexual abuse- first degree _
_ Alabama state law § 13A-6-63, Class A misdemeanor; Class C felony
Also from the article:
If prosecuted at the time, Moore could have faced charges of sexual abuse in the second degree for his alleged contact with Corfman and Nelson.
cites
Sexual abuse- second degree STATUTORY
Alabama state law § 13A-6-67, Class C felony
Also from the article:
He could have also faced more serious charges of enticing a child younger than 16 to enter a home with the purpose of proposing sexual intercourse or fondling of sexual and genital parts in connection to the charges by Corfman, who said the incident occurred at Moore’s house. That is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison
cites:
Enticing child to enter vehicle, house, etc., for immoral purposes STATUTORY
Alabama state law § 13A-6-69, Class C felony

And this is why my Alabama is so lost in the past:
**Civil suit?

The statute of limitations for civil suits has also passed. Victims of childhood sexual abuse have two years from their 19th birthday to file a civil suit, according to victimsofcrime.org.
**

The strict time frame has earned Alabama the title as one of the five worst states in the U.S. when it comes to child sex abuse victims filing civil claims.
