so you don’t bother to think about anyone past or present? That is truly sad. As Jesus Himself preached that we are to love one another, not to ignore and forget.
You have missed my point and have thought the worst you could about me.
When you are in the presense of God your focus is entirely on Him, He is zealous/jealous.

If you knew true worship you would also put the saints aside and your heart would be set on Him alone.
You avoided the question. 😉

I disagree, how can you worship him without looking at what he has done, how can you look at what he has done without looking at those whom he has done it through? It is quite impossible to find true worship without looking at what he has revealed on earth.

Funny, my experience with most protestant worship is that the focus is on the self, not on God. God is on the periphery of protestant worship, much as the saints are on the periphery of most true worship.

That’s kind of the Wagner PowerPainter of broad brush comments, I think. 😉

Silyosha,
It is sad at your age to come across this kind of hate. It saddens me deeply.

I offer two thoughts, allow no other human to stand between you and your faith.

And, usually haters like these do not reserve their evil for one group of people. Here is what they say about Lutherans:
jesus-is-savior.com/False%20Religions/Lutherans/whats_wrong_with_the_lutheran_religion.htm

In closing, when I first came across this site, I emailed, asking for a dialogue. I was not hostile, or accusatory. I also never heard back. In short, it is easy for one to make claims on the internet without having to support them. Ignore these people and rejoice in you faith.

Unfortunately, there are people from all religions who think, for whatever the reason that their religion is the only “true” religion and anyone else who doesn’t think like they do are heretics, heathens, agents of Satan, ect.

Embrace the religion of your true beliefs and be steadfast in it irrsepective of what anyone else tells you.

Worship God for who He is.

Not a bad clip
If you really feel that Catholics aren’t worshiping God for who He is then, why not start another thread and give your arguments there?

This thread isn’t about veneration vs. worship (although I know the posters before you commented on it) but this site.

How do you feel about this site as a Christian? Does it offend you what these people are saying about Catholics?

If you have God in your heart you do not need ant one else, you have it all

the jealousy of God was for His people. God did not want His people to be envolved with false gods which was very common on the days of Israel. all the other nations worshipped false gods. the Church Jesus built and promise to be with her until the end of times cannot worship false gods. it is impossible. now because you heard falsehood and choose to continue on this path, you are still being deceived and probably causing others to be deceived also.

the love we have for our ancestors is the same as that Jews have for their ancestors.

those who died for the True Faith. they are with God in Heaven and if God loves them and remembers them, who are we to deny them?

the reason you dont acknowledge them is because they dont testify to what you believe, therefore, you must deny them. it started 450 yrs ago with m luther and calvin. dont worry, they are the ones responsible for your errors.

"Love men, slay error, without pride be bold in the Truth, without cruelty fight for the Truth." St Augustine

Yep you’re right, my apologies. I grew up in an Anglican Church, but was schooled in an evangelical environment. I always hold the two as seperate in my own mind and will often use the term “protestant” to refer to either group, but almost never both together (I consider most Lutherans in the same group as Anglicans), unfortunetly no one else is ever aware of this tendency so of course it makes for great misunderstandings.

The more traditional protestants more often then not do worship God (I’m not going to say all), it is the less traditional ones which focus on the self.

I see that you are a beginner Catholic and also that you are quite young. I would first like to congratulate you on your finding the Truth because Jesus founded the Catholic Church and said “that the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

I have had to defend my faith on other forums where people didn’t have to be as polite as they are here. It seems to me that Catholicism is attacked more often than other faiths and I was very confused by this until I realized two things:

(1) Most of the websites I’ve seen and most of the posts I received were full of anger against the Catholic Church. The biggest part of anger is fear. Think about that for a minute. If you are a passenger in a car and another car cuts you off with barely an inch between the cars you probably are in terror, then angry.

This isn’t something I came up with on my own. I learned it in a psychology class in college. But I have found it to be true.

People who are “angry” at the Catholic Church are “afraid” of the Catholic Church.

(2) When you defend your faith, even in little ways, you are acting as a “martyr”. As Catholics we are all called on to defend our faith but many don’t. Some have defended it to the death and I hope that if I am ever in the position that it is either my faith or my life I will be strong enough to choose my faith.

I will keep you in my prayers. You are doing so well that, even though I don’t know you, I am very proud of you!!

God bless you and bring you peace,

Christina

They do these things either out of ignorance or out of hatred. I prefer to believe that they do it out of ignorance. But sometimes they do it out of hatred and bigotry. Their religious bigotry is inexcusable regardless of whether it came about as the result of ignorance or hatred. They should be ashamed of themselves.

hi. let not your heart be troubled. this is just and extreme, right wing fundamentalis group, making money off of the fears of small minded people, who refuse to check facts for themselves. they not only slam Catholics, but anything they can think of with half truths, outhright lies, and false claims they cannot substantiate. these same type of people have been around since i was your age in the 1980s. they are spreading the same lies and propaganda they were then. so please dont be sad. when i went on this site, i actually got a chuckle to think that these people were still around, talking the same trash. Amy Grant of the devil, etc. etc. michael w. smith promoting satanism… laughable. have some fun with this. but remember that ignorance is an enemy. this should motivate you to study and expose the falsehood of some people:) God bless you, and as a former protestant, who was lost for 38 years in the sea of confusion called fundamentalism/protestantism, do not let them shake you. they have nothing at all. 👍

This is a very interesting thread but I do have a question. I have seen antimormon, antijehova witness, antiSDA sites posted by catholics trying to make a point against these respective believers of these religions on catholic forums. And I know that believers in these faiths find such sites hateful, containing untruths. Is there a double standard here? I think that it is wonderful that people are giving advice to the 15 year old about these anticatholic sites but can you also see the point of the mormon, SDA, or Jehova Witness when catholics post such anti sites for them to read? Or when catholics gleam information from anti sites and post the information as truth?

I think that all anti-sites are suspicious and should be avoided in countering an argument or in making a case. But what do the catholics think of antimormon sites? Anti-sda sites? etc?
