No, I like the dictionary definition you gave, insofar as a dictionary definition goes.

Clearly I disagree with you and therefore I haven’t watched the video. Please don’t call me a liar.
Do concet goers go and have their eyes closed.
You may not like this form of worship but dont belittle it.

Well, your own definition vendicates us of worship of saints then, doesn’t it? Although it doesn’t make a concert where a guy sings about worshipping god actual worship.
“I worship You, I worship You for Your name is Holy”-----is not singing about worship it is worship.

Catholics are members of the Body of Christ. They believe the full body is made up of Catholic members.
Confused. Be blunt. Do you think Mass is worship? Do you see how Mass defers from honor to Mary?

I am still awaiting you answer.
Never said anything of the sort. I will however admit I am quite suspicious of this line of argumentation given your opening statement that worship and veneration are the same thing. I believe you are looking to play on my words and thus refuse you full and complete answers as I might in an honest debate, if this is wrong I ask your forgiveness for such presumption.

Who are you to talk of belittling? You who barrelled into this thread claiming we worship the saints!

I spent years engaging in that sort of “worship” I know exactly what it is. It is more concerned with self-fullfillment than it does with the worship of the divine. As I said, I thought the music was beautiful, it just isn’t worship.

Sweetie, STAY AWAY from those websites. They are all over the place, they are almost every single one of them wrong about some very basic things, and the saddest part is, many of them are aware that they are presenting misinformation, but think that ‘lying for Jesus’ is a good thing.

They aren’t good for you. You know what your beliefs are. Hold to your faith in them and don’t let the cretins get you.
Wow, Diana.

When did Jesus say the Church would never err?
how come you felt the need to not complete the statement? i stated the Church has never erred in doctrine. if it was not for the Church you would not have the doctrine of the trinity, you wouldnt even have a bible. please if your gonna ask a question on somthing that is said. please include the whole statement you wish to question.thank you.

No, it is not. That is not what the Catholic Church means by Tradition. Furthermore, you are confusing doctrine and discipline.

By Tradition we mean the doctrines handed down to us. By disciplines we mean the way we act upon those doctrines. New disciplines can be added or discarded at any time. For example, it is a doctrine that we should pray. However, we can add new prayers (like the rosary) just like your church can add new hymns.

It is not fair for you to redefine our terminology to mean something else, then condemn us for not following your definition.

However, if you wish to discuss this further, please have the courtesy to start a new thread. This one is about the OP’s reaction to a particular website, not your view of the Catholic Church.
You know, it’s kind of strange that Hisalone never responded to your post although he/she has responded to other’s. It makes me think that he/she just ignores people that he/she disagrees with. Kind of snubs 'em. It’s not nice. But then I guess Hisalone just couldn’t defend his/her position when confronted with the truth.

Great post Kay Cee!!

“I worship You, I worship You for Your name is Holy”-----is not singing about worship it is worship.
Honestly now, I have been following this thread and you have succeeded in hijacking it. This stuff has nothing to do with the OP. If you want to debate the “worship of Mary” or “veneration of Mary” or whatever it is you are attempting to talk about, why don’t you start another thread? Why don’t you?? It isn’t hard to do and it would be a lot more Christian and just plain nicer to the OP who is a confused new Catholic receiving misleading information, some of which is being provided by you.

You have tried to tell us what worship is not yet cannot tell us what worship is, why should anyone believe you?
Concert goers have their eyes wide open these folks dont.
You have demonstrated that you have really not watched the video so again why should anyone believe you?
ill go further. most of the so called services in these " christian worship centers" are so syrupy they make me wanna throw up. so shallow i cannot see any substance. its just a feel good message, masquerading as worship and i dare say Christianity. they have replaced truth and the Holy Spirit, with emotionalism. how sad.

The more of that I see, the more convinced I am (if that were even possible) that the Catholic Church is the only Church Jesus founded, that it is One, True, and hated by Satan and his ilk.

.
You are right. When my Mom (who passed about two years ago and is waiting for me in heaven) was in her teens (not much older than the OP) she decided to find the “true” faith. She searched and searched and finally found out that the Catholic Church is the Church founded by Jesus Himself and “the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” She became a Catholic, married a Catholic and passed into heaven as a Catholic. She knew it was the true Church. She knew that Jesus wouldn’t make a mistake in His own Church or allow it to err.

When a Church is founded by God incarnate you can be pretty sure, no I take that back, you can be sure that it is the correct and true Faith. And I found that out for myself a few weeks ago. I was falling away from my faith and someone caught me.

God bless you!!

hi nine two. bingo! these type of services are about self fulfillment. it seems they have replace the Holy Spirit, with a spirit of emotionalism. and their doctrines confirm this. its a feel good message without any conviction for sin, but like other fads… this too shall pass…lol! God bless you and yours.🙂

hi caramel, he cant respond. hed rather just sway to the music. sorry the more post this guy/gal makes, the more i dislike him/her. probably is a member of a church similar to the one the thread starter was refering too. how nice of them to come on here and prove the young Catholic right.🙂

I’m only 15 and just a beginner Catholic, and I wasn’t aware of ALL the misinterpretation of Catholocism by other branches of Christianity. But now I have some idea. I found a website called jesus-is-savior.com, which devoted a lot of time to terrible misinterpretation through words, pictures, etc. Of Roman Catholocism. It shocked me. Naively, I hadn’t thought of what wrong things others might be reading about the faith. The website claimed that Catholics worship Mary, Catholics are heretics, the rosary is from the devil, etc. The whole thing has made me extremely sad. Have you seen this website personally, or had a similar experience of shock that I’ve had? How can anyone believe those things against the church?
I know I’ve posted to you already in this thread but I wanted to do so once again. I am so sorry that some people are taking your question and throwing it away and bringing up new stuff which doesn’t even belong here.

Do you have a favorite priest? Why don’t you talk to him, if you feel comfortable? Unfortunately being a Catholic means that we have to put up with people who are jealous of us, afraid of us, in awe of us, or misunderstand us and hate us. I didn’t know that people actually hated Catholics until I started posting. I found out quickly. Most of it had to do with misinterpretation of our doctrine. One poster said something like “You Catholics worship Mary and don’t you tell me that I’m wrong because I know they do in Mexico!!” Well, yeah, Catholics sometimes do things that go against Church doctrine. We are all sinners. Some Catholics steal, some murder. Some Protestants steal, some murder. All people sin. All people err. Our Church is a hospital for sinners.

Sometimes people think that Catholics believe in the complete infallibility of the Pope. If the truth is pointed out to them (that the Pope is only infallible in certain, rare statements (ex cathedra) they usually say that they didn’t know that and thank me for putting them straight.

There used to be a billboard on a major interstate in Oregon. It said “The Catholic Church is the Whore of Babylon” and every time I passed it I felt ill because it was such a cruel and untrue thing to say. That sign is gone now (I believe - at least I haven’t seen it) but there is still that mentality among many.

When you decided to become a Catholic, especially at such a young age, you made the correct decision. The Catholic Church is the true Church, founded by Jesus. But we have free speech in this country and people can say what they want, even if it’s wrong.

Ignore them, or if you feel very strong in your fatih, become a warrior and fight for the truth. They are wrong. They will say things to confuse you and/or even hurt you. Catholics have put up with this for 2000 years and that is a long time.

Just remember that you have discovered the Truth and rejoice in that.

Again, I am so proud of you!!

May God bring you peace,
Christina

Here’s my experience…I had a pretty radical conversion experience…It turned my life 180…I was just a christian and had an experience just like I read about in the bible…I started into forums and actually was joked about for my “born new” experience…Believe it or not it was more Catholic than Orthodox…I figured I’ll see where these groups are coming from…While I noticed practices I didn’t see in the scriptures it seemed the Orthodox and it conciliar operation was closer to what I read in the early church…I read about some dogmas and traditions and thought “where do they come up with this stuff”. It was about the same time people were going nuts over rust ,water and oil stains…And the verse came to me in Matt 24 where Jesus warned about running after sightings of Him…I was in a thread where they insisted Mary was my mother because the scripture said “behold your mother” I showed her the scripture and He say to John behold your mother for Jesus wanted His beloved John to care for her…And His mother to John, behold your son…And they blew it off…And a few other ideas that don’t say what the scripture actually said…I think to myself "aren’t these people digging into the scriptures themselves…We are to study to show our self’s approved, rightly dividing His word…We are to hide that word in our heart to keep us from sin…I just see so much that built on fragments aor some on no scripture at all…Anyway, these are just my thoughts and observations and are meant for no offense…

You went to this site referenced in the OP? I admit I’m confused about your post. Do you being more blunt and clear? Thanks…

So I miss a last post on a page, and I am accussed of not being able to answer, hogwash. Your discipline becomes tradition.
What is fair is for me to use biblical standards to define your terminology.
Doctrines that wernt finalized for nearly 1,600, 1,700, 1800 years after the apostles you say were traditions of the apostles? As they say I may have been born at night but it was not last night.

To get back to the original website can you explain this to me?
