No chance, Spanish killed or converted Native Americans up and down California and built missions along the way.
I suppose the Native Americans never committed any atrocities??
Why shouldn’t they try to convert people? Muslims are doing it all the time by force and murder if necessary!

Check out the story of the North American Martyrs who were murdered by Native Americans for doing good to them!

Members of the Society of Jesus who dedicated themselves to the conversion of the American Indians took Christ’s words very literally. They journeyed from Renaissance France to the frontiers of North America that they might preach and baptize.** After pouring the saving waters of Baptism on a dying Indian child, Saint John de Brebeuf, the great pioneer of this mission, exclaimed with joy, “For this one single occasion I would travel all the way from France; I would cross the great ocean to win one little soul for Our Lord!”** And so pleased was God with the genuine zeal and the extraordinary sacrifices of these Jesuit apostles that He bestowed upon Father Brebeuf and seven of his fellow missionaries the glorious crown of martyrdom. The following is the incredible tale of the Eight North American Martyrs.

And as for Hitler:

The Church isn’t Jesus, just another imperfect religion like all the rest.
We have the Magisterium of the Church, which is faithful to the Gospel. We Catholics have to be and remain faithful to the Magisterium. So whenever one says that the Church does this or that, it implies that it is done in full accordance with the Magisterium. Otherwise, it’s not “the Church”, but an individual acting on his own, whether he’s a lay person, a priest, a bishop… or even a pope!!! What about Jesus the Christ, the founder of the Church?

To state a religion is imperfect depends on something that is done in accordance with what this religion preaches. If it’s not the case, it’s not the fault of the religion but of the believer who departs from the teachings of his religion on the particular point where he/she is at fault.

It seems that Booklover chose to answer no to my post #776. This saddens me.

At least, saint Joan of Arc took good care of those wounded among the enemy and treated them as though it were Christ! That’s the way the saints follow. We should strive to follow their steps, shouldn’t we?

There has been a lot of famous Judas in the Church, from persecuting Jews and Native Americans to Hitler to pedophile.
Stop bringing up the pedophile business! Just because you refuse to believe that Muhammad had sex with a 9 year old, doesn’t mean he didn’t do it! You live in denial just like all other Muslims, refusing to believe that he was a monster who does not deserve all the imitation, adulation and idolatry he gets.

Could we say the same about fans of the Church?

Being Christian does not mean we have to be doormats!

I don’t think of myself as a doormat, Booklover. I do answer back, but I rather want to do it Jesus’ way. If we should attack, shouldn’t it be with food for thought? And with bread rather than a stone or a scorpion?

Religions are both the teachings and the membership, if either one is bad it spoils the whole thing.

Have you ever seen a Muslim ever answer anything except by a tu quoque??

If the Pope is supposed to be like Jesus was, why isn’t he out preaching among the people every day instead of sitting on a throne? Jesus never had a throne or a special hat or a palace or anything like that when he was here.

If you start at the top and find contradiction then it casts a shadow on the whole thing.

Well, if the membership acts at some points not according to their religion, it certainly makes their religion LOOK bad, and yet it’s not the fault of the religion itself because it didn’t ask the membership to do those things, which happen to be what they (and the religion) are criticised for. If the religion asked for those wrong things to be done, that would be the fault of the religion then and only then! Therefore the religions are not necessarily always both the teachings and the membership.

Just smoke, sir! Hitler wasn’t friend with Pius XII, not even before when he was Cardinal Pacelli… You believe the false propaganda, too bad!
I just said there were pictures, that’s all, and there are.

But you said Hitler didn’t go to church for a long time, which now looks like some false propaganda too.

If the very structure of a Christian religion has a leader that lives in riches like Caesar instead of poverty like Jesus, something is wrong from the start.

When rabbis teach something important they are sat down. Popes do preach the people every day, don’t you know it? And they say the mass, they are priests. Why do you refer to clichés? Are you trying to feed us with false propaganda?

Jesus didn’t need to live in luxury to preach to the people.

No, it’s not. Unless you understand “going to church” in another sense than “going to mass”!
