How can catholic charities participate in the grave sin of homosexual adoption? with this logic, catholics should refer crisis pregnancies to abortion clinics.
Asked his opinion of the agreement between Catholic Charities and Family Builders by Adoption, the archbishop commented that although Catholic adoption agencies could not remain open due to state law, “I’m really very happy with the decision made by the Catholic Charities CEO,” which, “was to work with the program on the Internet for finding homes for children, posting their pictures and being able to guide people who would be interested in this particular child to an adoption agency which could handle the situation.”

His appointment to San Francisco was one of Pope Benedict’s first major appointments. One presumes he represents what the Pope expects of American Bishops. 😦

As I see it, it is the old don’t do it in public but in private is OK. . I guess all sin is OK as long as it is done in the name of “good” and makes someone happy.:whacky:

Or as Father John Corapi said, “Don’t be so open minded that your brains fall out.”

I’m begining to wonder if Pope Benedict is giving any more thought to who he is appointing as Bishops then John Paul II ever did.

That’s like asking Jesus why he chose Judas. What makes you the judge of him? That isn’t your place to judge the holy father my friend. I hope you realize the Church for what it is a hospital of sinners. We’re not members of the Church because the clergy are sinless. We’re members of the Church because of the real presence in the Holy Eucharist.

I am just rather disappointed that, for a Pope who was immediately branded as a staunch conservative at the begining of his reign, Benedict’s selection of Bishops is not exactly what many orthodox Catholics had in mind.

I dont know that his plan is here, but if the Pope is in fact trying to reaffirm orthodoxy and obedience then I must admit I am confused by his methods so far.

Put your trust in God.

Oh, I do… and the Church falls apart all around me (in a localized sense and in many ways a universal sense).
What makes you think it’s going to fall apart? The boat may be leaking but it will not go down. Have faith.

At some point of human history She will die but be resurrected by the coming of Judgement day.

I say no reason to have a slow death. Go down standing.
677 The Church will enter the glory of the kingdom only through this final Passover,** when she will follow her Lord in his death and Resurrection**. The kingdom will be fulfilled, then, not by a historic triumph of the Church through a progressive ascendancy, but only by God’s victory over the final unleashing of evil, which will cause his Bride to come down from heaven. God’s triumph over the revolt of evil will take the form of the Last Judgement after the final cosmic upheaval of this passing world

So you’re saying the Church will sink?! I know that’s not right.

Bones, what I am saying is fight the good fight. I occasionally hear “the gates of hell shall not prevail against it;” as if that’s license to lose focus on where one’s loyalties lie. It’s not a statement of arrogance. It’s a statement of Truth.

Many Christians have faced many persecutions throughout time and with growing hostilities today we appear to be facing more. But the last generation that falls asleep in there duties may be the one that faces the worst trials. No reason we have to let it be this generation.

But you have to admit that we have the Holy Eucharist and because of that the Church will not bow down to the world. The Church has suffered worse than this.

What a thorny problem. I wonder how much direct co-operation in mortal sin is incurred when the option is to not help any children. I guess I see both sides, sort of.

On the other hand I will take two actions.
  1. Avoid donating to Catholic Charities until it can I can figure out if there is anyone else that does not engage in supporting have gays adopt children.
  2. Avoid California in case God decides to Sodom and Gommorah the whole mess with fire, brimstone or earthquake.
What a sad and horrible state of affairs we have there.

“The archbishop noted that the Church’s teaching is that the child should have a mother and a father.”

But he chooses not to follow Church instruction even though he apparently knows the difference? He is in danger of mortal sin and needs a lot of prayers.

I live in his disocese - he has been a disaster so far. Benedict is turning into a huge disappointment. Its, IMO, akin to corporate boys network. His appointment to Washington DC is also very suspect. The exodus from the Catholic church to Eastern Orthodoxy here is accelerating with this kind of stuff going on. Some Orthodox parishes now boast that a third of their members are former Catholics. Any wonder why with stuff like this going on?

Archbishop George Niederauer should be excommunicated IMMDIATLEY!

He is leading ppl on a path straight to hell.

On the other hand She may be in sad shape by the time He returns. But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?" Luke 18:8]

You bring up an excellent point bones but can I ask for you opinion on what Jesus said about scandal. If one is scandalized at the actions or inactions of those in charge isn’t that judging a person too?

Regarding sin, there is a big difference between sinning and JUSTIFYING sin. For that Bishop to adopt his attitude is scandalous
