Does anyone know anything about this Bishop? I know there are movements to have him removed; are they justified? Why is he hiding from the controversy about Catholic politicians in his dioceses making false statements about church teachings when other Bishops around the country are speaking up?

If you don’t know anything about him why do you assume that he is “hiding from the controversy about Catholic politicians in his dioceses making false statements about church teachings when other Bishops around the country are speaking up”

That’s an easy one. I do read the news…

We dont know anything, he maybe actively trying to convert her through private consultation, prayer and may not like being in the limelight, like other bishops who seem to enjoy it or who are called for that formof ministry. Why dont we give him the benefit of the doubt too, since he is a bishop and chosen by God to take care of a certian person and the others bishops though vocal are not in charge of that wayward sheep.

He has an article about it which will be published on Sept 5th. Many of us assume that the reason for the delay is so he could counsel Speaker Pelosi one-on-one first.

Thanks this actually cheered me up, I always like those who build up a bishop, even ones I dont agree with, Im glad to see others do too.😛

This is what my family and I also believe.

Yeah, be easy on the bishop, he might just have a different style of doing things. He might not, but we OWE him the benifit of the doubt.

Plus, it’s always easier to critisize.

Everyone, please keep Bishop Niederauer in prayer. he has one of the most difficult diocese to shepherd. Pray for him daily.
Prayers 7 blessings

Neiderauer has been a true disaster since he has been appointed to the episcopacy. You can Google his name and “liberal” or “homosexual” or “Most Holy Redeemer” and get any number of news articles and even a few Youtube clips that expose his troubling decisions, etc…

Here’s a short list: Former Bishop of Salt Lake City where he opposed legislation against the homosexual agenda. He offered further scandal by soliciting a judge for leniency on behalf of “his friend,” a priest who was later convicted of brutally molesting many children. Upon the Vatican’s statement issued on the prohibition against ordaining homosexuals, in a newspaper interview, he spoke at length about why this new Vatican statement should/would be dismissed (paraphrased). He offered yet more scandal when he opined about the movie Brokeback Mountain stating that he enjoyed the movie and making further favorable comments about how it displayed the virtue of love. In San Francisco, he has allowed an openly gay-friendly parish (Most Holy Redeemer) to not only stay open, but he has gone there to celebrate with the “faithful.” About a year ago, he was filmed offering communion to two members of “The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence,” an homosexual transvestite group that openly antagonizes the Church in SF. He later claimed that he did not know who they were???

For the life of me, I cannot figure out why Benedict XVI would have made this appointment. The AB seems to do the wrong thing at nearly every move and continues to scandalize the faithful on the West Coast. Side note: he is good friends with Cardinal Mahoney of LA and, I believe they were in seminary together (as were many of the current bishops on the West Coast).

Its not Benedicxt who is making some poor appointments. JP2 made a slew of them. The maority of bishops today were appointed by him and many are in defacto rebellion.

The bishop before Niederhauer in SF was just as bad. He finessed the first gay benefite law by winking and nodding and getting politicians to include others besides gays living together in the bill. The diocese then supported it.

When the MP was issued the bishop established a EO form of the Mass in Marin county. The fartherst north corner of the diocese with the samllest population of Catholics. It requires crossing the GG bridge and paying 5 bucks toll. It could not have been a less central location. So even Benedict’s own appointment here is not accomodating on his wishes.

Reports are that he will make his statement in his column in the archdiocesan newspaper this Friday (September 5th).
I would hope he gives a statement to a more wide spread audience. Pelosi’s statement was on all the major networks. I think Catholics everywhere need to hear HER bishop denounce her statements.

Don’t hold your breath.

Since Ms. Pelosi is such a studious Catholic, I am sure she has a catechism, maybe the Bishop could just point her to paragraph

2271 Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or means, is gravely contrary to the moral law:

*You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to perish.

God, the Lord of life, has entrusted to men the noble mission of safeguarding life, and men must carry it out in a manner worthy of themselves. Life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception: abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes.*

Seems pretty clear doesn’t it Nancy?

Well, I did e-mail her an offer to attend my bible class at a Senior Citizen Apartment. I told her that I understood that she’s busy but gave her an offer to "drop In’’. I was nice but told her that perhaps a bible/catechism lesson before she goes on Nation T.V would be helpful.

I got a rather lame form letter back tell me how the Demo’s want to reduce abortion but leave it up to the woman, her doctor and her God on whether to have an abortion. Boxer and the State Supreme Court Judges need to be recalled.
