But we know that Democrat appointed justices guarantee that it won’t be overturned.
We don’t know that. A Democratic-appointed justice, Byron White, voted not to uphold Roe v. Wade.

Overall, the Democrat-appointed justices have a better record of opposing abortion.

Well, the current political climate involves making excuses to vote Democratic, because it’s so  and hip and will get one lots of tolerance points and acceptance into the cool kids crowd, even though one may be nominally religious:
I don’t think anyone needs an “excuse” to vote Democratic. I know I don’t. I carefully weighed everything, looked at the candidates, and decided that, in good conscience, I could support only Sanders or Clinton.

I need no “excuses” for that decision, and I would be proud to have either as my president.

You had to go back to 1962 to find one.

Do you really think either Bernie Sanders or HRC would nominate a pro-life justice?

Actually, I think that Democrats need to make excuses all the time, especially Catholic and minority Christian Democrats. Much of the Democratic platform goes against what they claim to stand for or even profess in Church every Sunday, and as I said, it’s getting harder for even the not-so-practicing Catholics to not take some kind of notice.

What also is interesting I’ve seen accounts on here ask if it’s okay to vote Democratic. I’ve never seen anyone come on here and ask it was okay to vote for a Republican.

Why must such comments be made that one is “proud” to be liberal, a feminist or have this person as their president?

Shouldn’t the policies they claim to support stand on their own merits?

vox-nova.com/2008/05/21/are-liberal-judges-to-blame-for-roe-v-wade/

"When Planned Parenthood v. Casey reached the Supreme Court, there were eight Republican-appointed Justices on the Bench: Renquist (Nixon), Blackmun (Nixon), John Paul Stevens (Gerald Ford), Sandra Day O’Connor (Ronald Reagan), Antonin Scalia (Reagan), Anthony Kennedy (Reagan), David Souter (George H. W. Bush), and Clarence Thomas (Bush). The sole Democrat was White, who had been in the Minority for Roe v. Wade. (White did not want to uphold Roe v Wade).

In theory, what greater opportunity to overturn Roe v. Wade could be conceived? Eight Republican-appointed Justices, five of whom were appointed by Reagan and Bush, and a ninth, Democrat-appointed Justice who voted against legalized abortion in the United States! Well, things don’t often go as they are theorized. Reagan-Bush Justices Kennedy, Souter and O’Connor formed a plurality that upheld Roe v. Wade under the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, claiming the precedent of Eisenstadt v. Baird. They did decide in favor of the 24-hour waiting period, informed consent, and parental consent under the Pennsylvania Abortion Control Act."

No one can count on the Republicans to overturn Roe v. Wade.

The “they can appoint SC justices” is a hollow argument. I mean no disrespect to Republicans. Catholics can’t count on either party to strike down Roe v Wade. They said an unborn child does not “constitute a ‘person’ as define by the 14th Amendment.” So I guess the blame lies with those who wrote and amended the Constitution.

I’ve said many, many times I’m no feminist.

Policies can’t stand on their own. They have to have trusted leaders who will do their best to carry them out.

I think, overall, their policies are far, far more pro-life, which includes life from birth to natural death.

And White was still on the court in 1992 when PP v Casey was decided.

I did not say any particular account was a feminist.

Missing the point. Good policies don’t need to be defended with excuses but stand firm in the realm of reason and natural law.

Progressive policies do not do that, which is why the Democrats need to focus on identity politics in every single election cycle.

I’m just wondering if anybody on this thread is actually going to support or vote for Bernie Sanders?

The social problems of urban areas say otherwise.

There are Bernie Sanders supporters on these forums. This thread was started late compared to some of the others, so I’d imagine they are talking on the much more popular Trump (go figure) thread or on the Clinton one.

I will never support him. I think it is absolutely against the Church to support him.

He was appointed in 1962.

What policies exactly are more “pro life”. Not talking points, but actual policies

I voted for him in the primary, and I will vote for Clinton in the general. And with a clear conscience that I’ve helped to elect the best person to lead the country.

Everyone has to vote their conscience. I respect everyone’s vote, but I don’t think we should tear other people down.

I support people’s right to vote for someone who isn’t the frontrunner. Does that count?
