Say "No" to TV

We recently moved to a very nice and warm climate - my children have maybe watched a few hours of TV per WEEK since we’ve been here - they love to play outside so much. Our previous climate prohibited this. I think overall, younger kids (mine are 8,6 and 3) will more or less bend to whatever is available to them, TV, bikes, outdoor play or yes, the TV. I was very guilty of letting them watch excessively because I felt there was not much more to do after a while. If I had known it was so easy to kick the TV habit for them, I would have done it sooner, climate or not. Now if I could get DH to turn off the tube at night!

I really can’t stand television anymore. The news is mainly focused on negative things… from negative news to live arguements… The commercials are often crude… The programs always throw in something immoral. To tell you the truth, I only have cable because of EWTN. I’m going to cancel the cable. I don’t even want local channels. In case of emergency (tornadoes), I’ll have a hand held tv that I can watch… but only for emergencies. I’ll watch EWTN online. It will be hard for the first few months, but I’ll give it up for Jesus, so that I can spend more time with Him. I’m giving up tv!

I can donate the money to EWTN that would have went to cable.
