Scariest movie you ever saw?

I think in the 1950s they used to do things like that on purpose in horror movies.

There was one called “The Tingler” with Vincent Price about some sort of latent
parasite living in everyone’s spine that could GET you. You knew you had the tingler if you felt it in your spine like a shock.

The theatres rigged up certain chairs (that reliably would be filled) with a buzzer that gave a mild shock to the person sitting there … resulting in thrilling screams from the audience
that might almost induce panic.

I was old enough to remember that stuff. But the whole “nobody’s here in this theatre but me” knowledge had me flashing back to childhood Twilight Zone premises for a sec there!

👍 Coming back to me now! You are right. And I think the “movie” addressed the audience at one point TO scream (an audience participation invite! You don’t see that everyday in the flicks). I didn’t see this at a theatre but later on TV. Couldn’t have been the same. That buzzers in the seats was a ploy used … somewhere though (if not “The Tingler”).

I’m not a fan of scary movies so I don’t see the ones that are slated to be scary.

The two I think of right away are Flatliners and The Devil’s Advocate.

I think I stopped sinning for a week after seeing each of those movies!!

Eghh, I’m a baby when it comes to that lol. I remember hearing about how during the original radio broadcast of the story War of the Worlds, people believed it was real. I would have been one of those people hehe…

Haha, as much as I love Al Pacino (I’ve been trying to get my hair like Michael Corleone’s for years), I would never want to spend an eternity with “John Milton.” :eek:

I know it’s not a commercial film, but the Everyman Hybrid series on Youtube really freaked me out. Kind of like a Blair Witch type thing.

Would have to be The Silent Scream of a real life baby getting aborted. And watching a tv special where we found out that Odummy was re-elected for a second term. If these two.aren’t scary, then the exorcist ought to be a piece of cake. At least in Hollywood they are just acting. I for one am afraid how the Odummy one will end!!! Not knowing is the worst part.

My scariest movie was the first of that series, Alien, and i always thought that the alien was in the cat, though it didn’t appear so by the end of the movie. I was sitting, scared as all get-out, when the theatre cat brushed against the back of my legs. AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!

So, donsnow, in the sequel, Aliens, an alien really did come out of the cat? EEEEEEK!
I knew it, I knew it, I knew it!!!

I saw that too. I think I was only in 7th or 8th grade. Forever set me on the path of being pro-life.

In Aliens, Jones the Cat is just fine. Because she spent so long chasing after him on the Nostromo (running away, hiding, nearly getting incinerated…), Ripley tells him, “And you, you little s**t-head… you’re staying here” after she agrees to go back to LV-426.

What you might be thinking of is Aliens 3, where a xenomorph comes out of a rottweiler owned by one of the prisoners on Fury-161. Always a sign of a lower-quality movie when they kill a dog.

I haven’t seen it but to me it would have been more sad than scary. I keep wondering what kind of person that baby would be if he/she had been allowed to be born. 😦
 
The scariest for me would probably be the Exorcist. Even though it is an older movie, it still kind of freaks me out.
 
I saw The Blob when I was about seven. I don’t think I got a good night sleep for months. :eek:

I have a veeeeeery low tolerance for scary movies. I get nightmares from scary movie trailers and even archeology documentaries sometimes, so I figure it’s best to steer clear. 😊
