Exactly. The point that you are making to Cmatt show how the left - catholic or otherwise see the political spectrum mainly in terms of economics and ignore the social issues. They can’t understand how the secularization of America is also a big component of leftism. And it makes sense from the leftist perspective when you think of how they criticize traditional institutions as “patriarchal, imperialist, sexist, racist, and militarist.” It is also why the different radical groups generally agree on the main issues, economic, foreign policy and social issues such that you see at protests groups with rainbow flags promoting transgender rights along side the pro-Palestinian group which is along side the pro-abortion groups that is next to the “free health care for all” groups. They are all a part of the same ball of wax which seeks to bring down our traditional institutions. That is why leftism = abortion rights = anti-military = tax the rich, etc. A vibrant Catholic church active in the lives of people is naturally in opposition to the idea that it is the government which cures all - the government of the Obama Julia ad. The all knowing, all powerful state can’t exist along side with a strong Church. One of them has to go. I think that puts in perspective the recent actions of Obama/Sebelius that curtail the freedom of the Catholic church to act according to its own conscience. And the question the leftist/liberal catholics on this forum need to ask themselves is " am I with the Church or am I with the state?"

Ishii, I was letting this one slide by because as you know, you and I have had discourse over this over and over again on other threads. But as I see some of your politically conservative comrades 😉 give kudos to your post, I’ll just say you appear to make a lot of assumptions about how the “left” sees things which I understand you may have to do since you are not of the “left”. Those of us on the “left” sometimes may make assumptions about those of you on the “right” which are not exactly precise as well. But I especially found it interesting how you lumped free health care for all the sick into the same ball of wax with tearing down traditional values. And actually this morning at Mass we prayed for government to help the poor. It actually brought tears of joy to my eyes. I would hope none of us there, conservative, moderate or your dreaded liberal like me, meant that one of them, the Church or government has to go. I know at least the liberal yours truly was not of that mindset. God bless you Ishii. Peace.

Father Mitch Pacwa of EWTN reported on his CD Relativism and Her Three Ugly Sisters that he had seen homosexuals counter-demonstrating pro-lifers at abortion clinics. He posed the question as to why homosexuals need abortion. The answer, of course, is they don’t; BUT, they belong to the larger Leftist political coalition: to get support they lack because of their insignificant numbers.

Note also here that Leftists are lobbying for felons’ voter rights. The founding fathers in their wisdom took away their vote to keep them from forming a coalition to influence the law not to criminalize their activities.

The modern liberal will invariably side with evil over good, wrong over right, and the behaviors that lead to failure over those that lead to success.

‘Extreme Right Wing’ Of Republican Party Has Litmus Test That ‘Doesn’t Allow Compromise’: Bad.

‘Extreme Left Wing’ Of Democratic Party Has Litmus Test That ‘Doesn’t Allow Pro-Lifers’: Good.
I was going to point out that Democrats have their litmus tests, too, but see that has already been brought up.

Although (sorry, haven’t figured out how to quote from multiple sources), someone brought up the 9th amendment - that was the same one that they used to permit abortions in Roe v. Wade. A double edged sword, indeed.

…(sorry, haven’t figured out how to quote from multiple sources)…
I take it you mean quote from more than one post in a thread. You could open two windows and hit the “quote” button of the post you want, highlight and copy, and then go to the destination quote [other window] and paste it there. Don’t forget to include the first poster’s name and a at the end. When you are done editing, do a preview, and they both should appear.

Another way of doing it is to copy both quotes, paste them in a word processor document, edit, and then do a copy and paste from the WP to the final post. 🙂
