greg_b - there are probably 10,000 posts on these matters. It is a bot more complicated than it looks on the surface.

I would like to see testable, repeatable and predictable evidence of speciation.

You will not be able to provide the evidence, so that leaves us with best fit theories. That is what evolution does with common descent. Let us take the pieces of the puzzle we do have and with an a priori vision put them together. Any materialist evolutionist will admit the a priori view that they cannot and will not allow the divine foot in the door. Therefore macro is not a valid truth.
Of course, biologists generally agree that speciation in higher organisms takes a long time. But, here you go:

talkorigins.org/faqs/faq-speciation.html

Again, I’m not a scientist, but the above article was pretty understandable. Makes sense to me that speciation is more easily observed in fruit flies, etc., with extremely short lifespans.

You know, I cannot for the life of me begin to understand why so many Catholics feel so threatened by evolution, when our own Church hasn’t a problem with it, as long as we acknowledge God’s role as Creator.

What species are the evolved fuitflies?

Evolution is only threatening where it intrudes on Revealed truth. The places of intersection are original sin, Adam and Eve as first parents, Eve coming from Adam, bodily immortality, freedom from irregular desire, infused knowledge, preternatural gifts. These are dogma so there is a problem. And these are specific to the origins of man, only.

Polygenism (which is forbidden) infers that there are some of us without original sin. It also infers that some of us may be inferior and others superior.

Iand believe that Jesus rode a Dinosaur into Jerusalem (And no, I did not make up that last part. Many actually believe that)
How many believe that?

In my Humble Opinion The purpose of claiming this is the missing link is to weaken humanity’s faith in God . To me This ploy was orchestrated by the world elite that our Pushing a Post Modernistic Atheism down are throats. This sort of worldview is apparent in most of the shows we have on tv, in our Educational Systems, and the culture overall. I believe that this world elite is pushing Evolution and funding its research for a future world they have planned. A world where…well…There is a superior race and an inferior race, because if Evolution is true , then its true even for today and for the future, so we must correspond to its principles. I think there removing God from the Public Sphere , there looking to rob and steal people’s faith so people will not be under God but Under them. For if there is No God, then who is God? They are…I mean afterall they didnt become the Global elite for nothing. So Like Hitler they to believe in a superior race of mankind in which they are at the top and most others are the slaves. Much like a beehive…You have a Queen and you have the slaves who serve the queen… this is the future there looking to establish based on atheistic principles…Where a man is judged not by the content of his character but by the race blood he’s born with.

Evolution is a Dogma of this post modernistic atheism its not factual and can never be
proven.

We are in the end of days, and i cant imagine what sort of world we will have in 20 years or so.Christians…are you really a christian? I will bet the house, you will have to really prove that within 20 years or so. Miss california gave up her crown for truth, will you give up your Job? will you give up money? will you give up fame ? would you give up your very life for the truths of God?
Pray pray pray…

God bless you all

So who are you going to trust more… The Catholic Church and her scientists or a bunch of anti-Catholic fundamentalists who deny every piece of evolution and believe that Jesus rode a Dinosaur into Jerusalem (And no, I did not make up that last part. Many actually believe that)
Since the dinosaurs lived over 50 million years before even the first hominid, that’s a stretch.

Scientists: ‘Missing Link’ Fossil Not Worth Media Hype

You know science has made it big when the Google homepage logo is changed to celebrate a fossil finding and the mayor of New York shows up at a press conference to unveil it.

A new 47-million year old primate fossil unveiled to the world Tuesday has made waves among scientists and non-scientists. Google responded by working an image of the fossil into the logo of its search page Wednesday.

The discovery was presented with much fanfare at a press conference at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, where researchers called the finding a “missing link” and a publisher from Little, Brown (which put out a related book called “The Link”) called it “a scientific discovery that will undoubtedly revolutionize how we understand our own evolution.”

“What does it tell us about human evolution that we didn’t know? Precious little,” said Stony Brook University paleoanthropologist John Fleagle.

But the fossil is certainly significant for what it can tell us about early primate evolution, he said.

“It’s an extraordinary fossil as an individual,” Fleagle told LiveScience. “I’m sure people will be combing over it for details for decades.”

They are simply piecing a puzzle together, nothing more, nothing less. Christians ascribing this sort of conscious, malevolent intent to scientists is discouraging.

It’s people like Buffalo and their denial of simple reality that causes other Catholics to leave the church and prevents others from joining because we look like a bunch of conspiracy crackpots

You would do better to stick to the arguments rather than attacking the person.

Perhaps you could answer how evolution can be reconciled with the dogmas of the faith. What I have learned after a “more than a few” posts that most Catholics are not even aware of these dogmas.

Do you assent to all of them?

  1. *] God keeps all created things in existence. (De fide.)
*] God co-operates immediately in every act of His creatures. (Sent. communis.)

    1. Evolution does not contradict even one of those

Monkeys are dark furred.

Because a Lemur in a zoo isn’t a fossil.

Evolution is a scientific theory, and a dang good one too. I certainly believe it’s the way God created us. There’s lots of evidence in the Universe to support it, too, like how the Universe was created, how atoms work, how the human mind functions, and how God works slowly, never hastily.
very well then…so when human would have come to the very link of links of the darwin theory that would really establish it as a fact, i hope that the dead end of it would have led us humans to adam and eve:D…and would adam and eve be looking like monkeys?..now i wonder:shrug:

With regard to this particular fossil, it seems to me that someone believed there was money to be made, given the huge hype. While I’m sure that some questions about the relationship of this creature to other very early primates may be answered, and the simple fact of its unusual completeness is exciting to scientists, there is a whole lot of overreaction going on.

The scientists wanted to preemptively beat the creationists to the press, because anytime a new fossil is found the creationist groups get in front of the mics and rant on about how this or that is just a hoax or lie or whatever, the scientific community probably has decided enough with this and decided to get to the finish line first this time
