You are no “cynic” – more like a “realist”. Those who give-up and cave before the pontifications of politicians forget that there is a close relationship between politicians and cockroaches - they all scatter when a light is shined on them!
The other relationship of politicians is with prostitutes – we know what they are; we’re just trying to determine our cost.

Let’s never forget:

1. Who politicians work for - the taxpayer.
2. What they view as of utmost importance = Power, and staying in office.

You people who think Kerry (Mr. Heinz 57/ketchup - his billionaire wife) would make a good Sec. of State?? Have you forgotten this is the guy that threw his “medals” over the fence of the White House, and said US Soldiers were killers, etc.? That received A “questionable discharge”? Don’t forget - it wasn’t “Honorable” — the only others are “General” (weak) and “Dishonorable”. Nough said —
The same bonehead that put in 4 (four) months on river boats in RVN, (that’s Republic of Vietnam for you younger troops) fired an M-60 as the boat turned around to leave comrades to suffer without assistance — that John Kerry??

If it’s true you didn’t know – consider yourselves warned & enlightened. USE CAUTION!!
If you knew, but “forgot”, remember - “Those who forget history are condemned to relive it”. Or words to that effect. Otherwise, we will all get the Gov’t. functionary we deserve!!

well, the truth was obvious during the 4 years Obama was in office and he was still re-elected. i don’t think people want to face the truth anymore. they want to live in a magical world.

I used to say that if we could make it through Jimmy Carter, we could make it through anything! That was before I saw what someone like “His Highness” could do, and how far black voters would go just because He is black. The give-away of everything - including "Obamaphones’ was stunning.

Remember what one of my personal heroes - Margret Thatcher - once famously said - “The only thing wrong with Socialism is that sooner or later, you get to the end of everyone elses’ money”.

thanks for encouragement J. J.!! i lived through the jimmy carter years too, but at that time i was very naive about politics and what was going on in the rest of the world. as i have grown older and matured i sometimes have a cyncial opinion that nothing really changes. i also am a fan of Margret Thatcher. didn’t they make a movie about her with meryl streep called The Iron Lady? i didn’t see it. i think meryl streep is a liberal so i was afraid the movie would not be favorable towards Thatcher.
back to the thread, i just never dreamed i would see anyone as president as incompetent or inexperienced as Obama and someone that could fool the american people so easily.

I’m certainly no fan of Kerry, but he does have enough capital, government, and foreign affairs experience to be qualified. Not that I’m likely to agree with many of his decisions, or character for that matter. But that’s our government.

You should see the film: Meryl Streep is astonishing, and she portrays Margaret Thatcher in a positive light.

The Carter years were the worst. Even if you’re not an Obama fan (which I get the impression you are not!), I think you must admit that. Well, except for the Camp David Accord between Israel and Egypt.

As time goes by I become more & more convinced in “Term Limits” for any and all office holders as the only way to put a stop to the “homesteading” - staying in office for decades - and position aggrandizing, wealth, and power accumulation that goes with staying in office.

But, as we grow closer to the beginning of The Great Fast for this year, let us pray that these 40 days be “perfect, holy, peaceful, and without sin.”
Who knows - perhaps The Obama Administration is a great penance sent to us by our Great God, Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ as a test of Faith ----

i hope to see it sometime.

i agree. i know it will not be long before Kerry says or does something that will bring criticism, but which will go unnoticed by the mainstream media and liberals. i am well aware of the double standard they follow.

i have to put my trust in God to get me through these next 4 years. i am not getting any younger and have been living through financial hardship the past several years.

i notice Obama has been trying to win points by constantly mentioning the middle class - a point he ignored up until re-election time. so we will see how much help he does give the middle class these next 4 years.
