Several questions regarding the events at Fatima, Portugal in 1917...

I don’t believe it was done properly and I don’t believe that Sister Lucia ever said that. I think we were just told that she said it. The iron curtain did not come down because of a consecration but because it was no longer needed for the communist agenda. If Russia was consecrated then when was their a large return to the faith. The Popes claiming that the consecration was done does not fall under infallibility.
Neither does declaring the vision worthy of belief. Why take their word for it for one thing and reject it for another thing?

As I said, doesn’t that make you your own barometer instead of the Church having the final say on matters?

Have any of you read the book, Fatima in Twilight by Mark Fellows. It is a very good and well researched book.

My two questions directed towards those here who deny that the Consecration took place still haven’t been answered. I’ll post here again to refresh everyone’s memory:
  1. Why do you believe Lucia in regards to the revelations at Fatima, and in particular the request for the Consecration, but disbelieve her in regards to said request’s fulfillment?
  2. You claim that the Consecration hasn’t taken place, but the Holy Father, all the Bishops in communion with him, and Lucia all say that it has taken place. Why should I take your word over theirs?
Like I said before, my uncle was and still is a Bishop and never heard about it until later.

And that proves … what? Bishops are charged with overseeing their own dioceses. That one Bishop would not know what was happening in another diocese is more the rule than the exception.

Guys, I really need your help on this one:
A brief interruption:
I have been trying to find, but with no luck, the articles which lead up to the miracle. All the books that I have read say that in as early as May, newspapers started reporting on the miracle that was to come in October. Does anyone have an links or resources for this? Please come through for me!

Guys, I really need your help on this one:
I haven’t found anything like that up to now. The Johnston book I directed you to has plenty of newspaper accounts post-miracle.

Another source you might want to look at is The True Story of Fatima by Fr. John DiMarchi. This book is available in its entirety online. I don’t recall that it has newspaper reports, but it does have a lot of eyewitness accounts and quotes from government correspondence about the phenomena at Fatima while they were happening.

I have that book, and although it refers to the articles which lead up to October 13th, Fr. DiMarchi does not specifically cite from them. 😦

No offense, but is your uncle a Bishop in full communion with the Pope and not, for example, one of the Bishops illicitly consecrated by Archbishop Lefebrve? Was he present at the 1983 Synod? Does your uncle deny the validity of the Consecration?

Really? That is kind of rude of you because you don’t know me or my uncle. He was ordained a Priest in the US back in the 50’s. By the example you have used, I do take offense.

I agree with the need of many consecrations being done of Russia. They are in bad shape and need badly to be consecrated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. I asked my priest to consecrate our town to Russia and the Blessed Virgin Mary and he laughed at me in front of everyone. “hey, everyone, Rich thinks I am the Pope.”

I look forward to the day when the Pope obeys and the world and people can some peace. Modern priests are more like bullies than any time in my life. There is much fear in the world regarding this issue and still the Pope is caught in the headlights of fear. Bravo SHIN!
It is so strange! Why be afraid to do it? And yet… What kind of mysterious fears must there be?

It’s good to keep things simple! 😃 You know it!

*I am wondering about this line in the message of Fatima:
If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted, and there will be peace; if not, she will spread **her errors **
throughout the world,
My question is, does anyone know if the Church has ever defined what errors Russia would spread through out the world?
If any one here knows if the Church has could you please provide me with a resource that I can read?

Thank you in advance for your time.

If memory serves, Sr. Lucia later said that this referred to Communism. But the best resource would be history, which records the errors that Russia in fact did spread throughout the world.

*Dear Victorious,

Thank you for your response. I do remember reading earlier in this thread that St. Lucia also said some thing to the effect that the interpretation of the messages was up to the Church.
I believe this is why I was wondering if the Church had ever said what the errors are.

In regards to the ones in history. Do you know what all the errors are that Russia did in fact spread?

“We declare, say, define, and pronounce that it is absolutely necessary for the salvation of every human creature to be subject to the Roman Pontiff” (Pope Boniface VIII. Bull Unam Sanctam 1302).
Excuse me, but I intrest to know if Russion Orthodox and Greek Orthodox have similar “declaration” in force. Please note I am open-minded so feel free to be critic here. I perhaps qualify last statement by saying, I open-minded not empty-headed, and note with intrest that it took over 1250yrs for that declaration to be made, so tell me please what happen to all Christians before that date? Again I say, (if necessary) please correct me in true spirit of oecumenism bearing in mind that in regard to Christianity I am fellow traveller. Regard, O.N.

You’re right, I really don’t know your uncle. That’s why I ask. He could be Bishop Williams for all I know. Or, he could be Cardinal Levada for all I know. Or, you could just be blowing smoke for all I know. I just don’t know, hence I ask. You really can’t just drop a name or a title as an appeal to authority and not expect a question of credentials (so to speak). It’s no different than if you said “the Pope once said xyz” – really? which Pope, where, when, how about a citation, etc.

So, who is your uncle?
