Sexism Against Men

As I was browsing Yahoo News today I stumbled across a video article that is obviously sexist against men. Ali Wentworth, the reporter, says “You’re just disgusting cavemen that have not evolved through evolution the way that women have.”

Needless to say the woman is single yet claims she has lots dates (yeah right). So often we hear ad nauseum about sexism against women but rarely do we ever give men a chance to get out what aggravates us. God made man and woman equal in value but different. That is a good thing and that is what the Church teaches.

We have lots of work like Bs. John PII’s work on “the Feminine Genius” but hear little good about men. I would like to use this forum for men (and women) to air what is good about men and how men face sexism.

We had a forum in the past about men’s rights that got closed so lets try to avoid a repeat of that if possible.

And here we have the first example of sexism against men. When men shine a light on how we are treated indignantly we are told to do the above. Of coarse this line would not fly in the other direction.

There is a certain immunity enjoyed by some feminists in the media. Last year Sally Quinn at Washington Post basically said the bishops’ examination of the LCWR nuns could not be a just examination because the bishops were celibate and male.

Your post also reminds me of a certain strain of feminism that does believe women are “more evolved” so to speak. On the August 16, 2012 Coast to Coast radio, the guest was Sonia Barrett whom believes we should “decide for ourselves” what is truth, and it leads to enlightenment, and part of this involves rejecting various traditions. A caller named “May” from Grand Rapids, Michigan stated the following:*Sonia, I have to say that you and I must have been born of the same mind and of the same spirit because I am right there with you. I know exactly what you’re talking about. And it’s been quite a journey for me. I’m almost 53 in a couple of weeks, and finally when I just could not bear any more, this–– I call everyone the “dead little soldiers,” you know, being this untruth that they walk in. You know I had to quit my career and become self-employed because I just couldn’t work around the lies and the falseness anymore out in the world. And I have a couple questions for you. One, it seems to me, I’m now in a place in my life where I’m actually meeting other people who are like you and like myself, and that’s been a whole lifetime coming. But I’ve not ever met any men who are truly open to this truth. Now George is a different kind of person, but, um,
you know, I don’t ever meet men like that, or talk to them or even hear of them, that are becoming open. So my first question to you is do you think that women are becoming more open to truth first?

So, yes, there are certain women whom believe men are or might be an inferior gender, less evolved, unable to grasp truth, etc… Fortunately, there are marvelous women in the world too. :o

TV shows like Family Guy and The Simpsons portray dads as losers. My husband concurs.

I’m a dude and this kind of stuff does happen all the time. Know what my solution is? Suck it up. Even a modest protest against it is basically ruins the whole thing that is indeed good about men. Men are supposed to be the shelter in the storm. Men are supposed to the rock that women can rely on. If women or girly men are going to kvetch about us, well that’s life.

Suck it up and leave it with God. Good women understand that men are people too. Our wives are well aware that we’ve got emotions and that we have different ways of dealing with them. We wouldn’t have married them we didn’t feel safe in letting them know that we can be a bit vulnerable too.

So what if popular media gives men a bad rap? They give a lot of single women a bad rap too. Seems like the only type of person who doesn’t get a bad rap are moms. Whatever.

If you want to be a man, you’ve got to not care what the world thinks about you. That attitude also happens to attract women so it’s an extra bonus.

You’re sure about that? I mean about the moms. Everyone gets a bad rap. Makes me think of a Spanish proverb which goes like this “Everyone is a fool in someone else’s eyes.”

No matter what you do, think or are, there is someone more than willing to criticize you.

Word. If you want to complain, do it in a bar or do it via PM. Don’t do it in front of people. It ruins whatever good image we’ve got left!

And Sarcelle, I’m talking about simply popular media. Mother’s Day is a massive deal. Hallmark’s entire profit margin comes from Mother’s Day (this is an exaggeration). Mom is usually the “level-headed one” in most sitcoms. That’s really my only point.

I wish ABC hadn’t ruined Last Man Standing. That was a decent show for awhile. But whatever. I don’t really care. I can’t. I’m a dude.

I suppose one could ask if women are superior to men why is there a gender pay gap. I’ll have to go along with Bucket and say “take the money and suck it up” unless every man is ready to take a cut in pay to average things out.

The pay gap is highly exaggerated and a result of women’s choices. Look at these articles and learn how that number is actually calculated. They are all reputable sources. All were written by women too except the last link. Dr. Warren Farell wrote the book in the last one and he is a well learned guy and former NOW board member.

Yep, even in cartoons, females are bright and ambitious, and practical. Men are buffoons, sperm donors and get no respect (with apologies to Rodney Dangerfield). The media did a real about face regarding men and women.

Why can’t we all get along? It would totally ruin the fun of creating two warring camps, with women on one side and men on the other, separated by a bottomless pit. And, of course, women are destined to rule… Men, not so much. :rolleyes:

Oh yeah. That explains what’s wrong with male-female relationships today.

Just ignore that whining feminist noise in the background. They’re itching for another fight. But hey, Real Men don’t have to notice or discuss it.

A lot of men are confused about any statement about what “being a man” means.
