I think this is an excellent question. I would have no problem treating homosexuals in the governmental work place the same as anyone else and signing such a statement. Obviously religious organizations must be allowed free exercise of religion, including abiding by moral teaching that homosexuality is disordered. I understand the issue with teachers, but in a public system, I do not see how discrimination could be allowed without also allowing for other bias, like anticatholicism. Now if a teacher was ever speaking about their personal life as a homosexual (or heterosexual) to students, that could be forbidden and grounds for termination. For sure, Catholics school should be free to require a moral code of conduct to all employees. I work at a place that has such a code, yet because we are publically funded, I accept that homosexuals do not automatically violate that code. One here is a friend and I have no problems with any who have worked here. Some of the heterosexuals however have caused me headaches and been terminated for it.
Have you heard of Chai Feldblum, the primary author of ENDA, The Employment non Discrimination Act aka as The Gay Bill of Special Rights? She was recently appointed by Obama as Commissioner of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and is a radical lesbian who believes that sexual freedom trumps religious freedom. If this bill passes we will have the homosexual agenda crammed down our throats with a vengeance!

I think it’s time we said NO to the proponents of this perverted lifestyle. Homosexuals are always talking about “tolerance”, but they are the most intolerant when it comes to those who don’t approve of their lifestyle.

Keep in mind that not everyone who have same-sex attraction live a life full of sexual sin. Even those people who call themselves gay and commit sexual sin aren’t always associated with radical gay “rights” groups. It best to avoid putting people in a box.

I honestly think you should leave the organization, discriminating based on a label and not actions is always Unjust.

As Catholics we are not supposed to condone, support or approve of the homosexual lifestyle. Period. We are not doing them any good by affirming them in their sin.

The actions are being judged. A chaste homosexual has no need to declare himself, if he does it is part of an agenda.

When did I say that we should affirm same-sex sexual contact? Saying that not all who experience same-sex attraction commit sexual sin or saying that even those who do commit sexual sin don’t all fit in the boxes they are stereotypically put in is NOT the same as condoning the sin of homosexuality.

The sin of homosexuality consists of homosexual acts, not experiencing homosexual attractions.

It is possible for one to experience same-sex attraction yet not commit sexual sin.

It’s also not good to lump even all those who are committing sexual sin in one box. Stereotyping people will only alienate them from the Catholic Church. I recommend watching the following video on reaching out to those with same-sex attraction:

I wouldn’t necessarily agree that someone who labels themselves “gay” or “lesbian” is necessarily part of an agenda. Sometimes those terms are the best way a person know about to describe their situation.

There can be very good reasons for someone with same-sex attractions to tell some others about his same-sex attractions. The reasons go well beyond the scope of this thread, but conservative Christian Chad Thompson, in his book Loving Homosexuals as Jesus Would, mentioned that it can be very debilitating for a person experiencing SSA to not tell anyone.

Confiding in a friend or spiritual advisor privately is one thing, To wear it on your sleeve, or all over your cubical at work and making it your core value and demanding that everybody validate and celebrate your lifestyle, that is something different entirely.

The correct label would be SSA unless of course one is acting on it, then gay or lesbian apply/

Telling someone and asking others to celebrate and embrace the act are way different.

I am talking of those who are flaunting their homosexuality and want to live the “gay” lifestyle.

I also suggest that homosexuals stop their campaign of hatred against those who oppose their agenda!

Found this on a homosexual website. How’s this for an agenda?
The Gay Manifesto embraces the following five proven scientific facts about Gay and Lesbian Americans:

Fact — Homosexuality is a normal, natural and unchangeable sexual orientation.

Fact — Homosexuality has always existed at a fixed percentage throughout human

evolution.

Fact — Homosexuality is present in all animal species including the human species.

Fact — Homosexuality is an immutable and infallible biological construct of nature.

Fact — Homosexuality is necessary for human existence and the perpetuation of the human species.

As such:
The Gay Manifesto demands full and unconditional equality in every area of life. Gay and Lesbian Americans will not be barred from fully realizing the freedoms constitutionally guaranteed to every citizen of this great country.
The Gay Manifesto demands the immediate end to political parties using Gay and Lesbian issues as a wedge for garnering votes and campaign contribution. The Democratic and Republican parties have made billions exploiting Gay and Lesbian Americans and have no interest in securing our equality. Gay and Lesbian Americans demand equality and will actively remove candidates incapable of delivering legislative results furthering that goal.
The Gay Manifesto demands that corporations provide equal access to Gay and Lesbian employees in securing employment protections and full benefits for their families. America is a grand capitalist society where Gay and Lesbian money will only support businesses valuing Gay and Lesbian rights and full equality for all Americans. Corporations with policies contrary to true American values will adapt or face product boycotts and civil actions.
The Gay Manifesto demands the forfeiture of public entitlements and special privileges for any religious institution condemning Gay and Lesbian Americans. These organizations promote a contrary opinion to proven scientific facts and the laws of nature, encourage ignorance within the public domain and are hostile towards the most fundamental of American values…freedom from oppression."

Proven facts???Talk about myths! How can homosexual unions be necessary for human existence and the perpetuation of the human species? IMHO, this is pure nonsense!

Many either haven’t heard of the acronym SSA, don’t like it because they perceive people who say “SSA” to be bigots, or simply find it easier to say “gay” because people will more easily recognize the term “gay”.

The first time I heard “SSA” on a forum, I had not clue what it was and had to ask. But if someone said “gay”, I would have been familiar with that term.

That wasn’t super clear. Saying “Homosexuals are always talking about “tolerance”, but they are the most intolerant when it comes to those who don’t approve of their lifestyle,” (post 21) makes it sound like all homosexuals (people with SSA) are militant and committing sexual sin. At least it could easily be interpreted this way.

Regardless of the agenda of gay activist groups, it will damage our ability to reach out to homosexual persons (wording used by CCC 2359 to refer to individuals with SSA) to view all homosexual persons from a political perspective. Doing so would likely influence one to put them in a box and make any discussion with them more of an argument than a constructive dialogue. Politics only tends to create friction between parties.

I recommend that you watch the following video on how to reach out to homosexual persons:

Exactly - this was by design as it shifts focus away from behavior. The general public bought in to this clever ploy just as they did when the abortionists started using the term pro-choice.

In our conversations we must use the proper term - homosexual.

But we should not assume that those who use the terms “gay” and “lesbian” necessarily have agendas (like you seemed to indicate in post 26).

Oh yes we should… There is an agenda and it is mainstream.

There are people who use the terms “gay” or “lesbian” who aren’t part of a movement and don’t have the same agendas as others who use that term.

Once we automatically assume that everyone who uses the terms “gay” or “lesbian” are part of a movement and don’t have the same agendas as others who use that term, we make reaching out to them in meaningful, charitable dialogue, virtually impossible.

This is a great example of exactly how Christians are able to build a wall between themselves and so many homosexuals who may be seeking help. It is so much easier to not offer a Christian hand to people of a certain “group” when you are able to convince yourself that every person among that group are part of the “agenda.”

BobObob, you’d probably have better results smashing your head against a wall than you will making the point you are trying to make. It simply doesn’t matter that nobody on the planet knows what in the world “SSA” is unless they frequent this board. It doesn’t matter that 99.999999 percent of chaste homosexual persons would describe their sexuality as “gay”. It doesn’t matter because anyone who utters the word “gay” must be a part of that big, bad, scary agenda.

Maybe we should start letting the young people, those who are coming to terms with being gay (even though they’re still in high-school and haven’t had sex with anyone) that they are part of an evil agenda. Let’s make them feel worse than they already do by making ridiculous assumptions. Besides, like Buffalo says, if they’re not having sex, there’s no need for them to tell anyone about their sexuality. I guess they should just keep their mouths shut and act like everyone else. Of course, if they do decide to be honest about their sexuality, they sure as heck better not say the word GAY, because we all know what that means.
