Shamelessly using a horrible tragedy where a 9 year old girl died to try and help themselves politically is just going to disgust the public with the morally bankrupt democrats even more than they felt on November 2.
Hopefully reason will prevail and the public will force the far-right Tea Party politicians to understand that violent inuendo-laced rhetoric has real world consequences and is unacceptable in a civilized society. I predict that this trajedy will turn the public off to calls for “second amendment remedies”, to “reload”, and “If ballots don’t work, bullets will” slogans and turn the Tea Party into an irrelevant and microscopic component of the political make-up of this country. That kind of stuff may have resonated with some people before this event but having seen what they are really advocating come to fruition will cause many of them to distance themselves from the kind of mob rule they once called for.

what absolute claptrap! The “far right” has not used violence laced rhetoric. We are sick and tired of the people we elect into office to SERVE our interests, turning around and sticking it to us in the form of taxes and regulations so that they can live like kings and queens! Our ancestors left Europe with its royalty and we don’t want it now! We also reject the idea that GOVERNMENT is the provider of all things in the world. There is nothing wrong with peaceable assembly and that is what we have been doing all along. The left might take a word of warning - if you restrict the free speech of the side you disagree with, what happens when that side is in power again and the laws are in place to restrict YOU???

Mob rule my left great toenail. That is what the elites think of we the people, “mob rule.” Well stick that in your ear, buddy, the “mob” is who votes. Bye bye, leftists who capitalize on the murder of innocent people to try and win elections.

Still waiting for you to post any evidence whatsoever that the rhetoric is harsher today than it was in the past and that political rhetoric has led to any increase in violence whatsoever. Can you give us a link showing the number of offices vandalized now as compared to those vandalized in the past? Can you give us a link supporting your assertion that not only has violence increased but it is a result of harsher political rhetoric?

Just stop it already. Both sides, left and right, have had this “violent inuendo-laced rhetoric” in the past, only only now it is suddenly a crisis? I’ve already posted examples of prominent Democrats using the same kind of rhetoric, so quit trying to say this is some sort of Tea-party only phenomenon. The far left is just as guilty:

Look at all the signs, clearly calling for Bush’s death. Should that have turned the far left “into an irrelevant and microscopic component of the political make-up of this country”? I suspect you don’t think so. In fact, I think you’ll dismiss these as far left whackos (no doubt “private citizens”), but you won’t do the same for Tea Party people that have been far less inflammatory?

Come on, get real.

It’s scary, the way the folks on the left just all “follow the lead”, whatever the latest lies the left-wing bloggers and opinion makers of the left are pedalling, they seem to just unthinkingly swallow them whole and regurgitate them. No thinking involved, just parrot the latest “talking points”. It’s like a percentage of the population are just these mindless pod people, like Invasion of the Body Snatchers

The “far right” has not used violence laced rhetoric…
I provided three examples in my last post and there are plenty more.
There is nothing wrong with peaceable assembly and that is what we have been doing all along.
There is nothing wrong with peaceable assembly but that is not all everyone on the far-right has been doing and calls to exchange ballots for bullets when you don’t get your way create a dangerous atmosphere for people on both sides of the aisle.

Whoopi Goldberg Today compared today’s rhetoric as the kind that led to the lynching of blacks. Such over-the-top nonsense does nothing to bolster their case. In fact the fact we don’t have lynchings anymore is more evidence that political discourse is a lot more reasonable today than it was in the past

doesn’t Whoopi work with the paradigm of love Joy Behar, she of the “come here b####!, come to New York!, she can rot in hell!”. Can you imagine the hissy fits the left would be having if a conservative TV host said that?

Again, people would take you more seriously if you stop blaming the far right.

Only Tea Party/conservative candidates based their campaigns on calls for a guns-in-hand revolution if the right wing loses and now a Democrat is lying in the hospital after taking a bullet to the head. That is what they called for whether Laughner was motivated by them or not. “If ballots don’t work bullets will” indeed.

I doubt people in Arizona are ignorant of the politics outside of their State.
You might be surprised but people in AZ don’t usually look to people outside the State to tell us how to vote in congressional elections. If they do that in your State, you might want to consider moving

That sounds accurate to me.

If anything I have said is against the Catholic Church, let it be anathema.

Here’s Gerald Celente’s take on the current mood in The Western World,

"Trend Forecast: The media has not connected the dots: a new class warfare has begun. The attack upon the Royals exemplified the pent-up hatred building among a population that can no longer be cajoled into believing sacrifices to further enrich the Ăźber-rich are in the best interest of their nation.

At the onset of the Great Recession, many bought the argument that if the biggest banks and businesses were not bailed out, the entire financial system would collapse. Now faced with the irrefutable evidence of record corporate profits, billions in bonuses and bailout windfalls, the people will no longer grin and bear it.

As economic conditions continue to deteriorate in Europe and the U.S., the uprisings will grow larger, more frequent, more organized and more ferocious. In response, government crackdowns will be harsher and more violent. As the New Year unfolds, the stage is set for incendiary acts that will be committed by one side or the other, escalating the conflict into prolonged battles.

Governments will declare that hooligans, anarchists, militants and foreign agents are responsible for the unrest, and the press will swear to it. What will be painted as assaults on capitalism and the free enterprise system could more accurately be described as acts of self defense; a battle between the growing number of “have nots” vs. the “haves” that keep taking even more than they had before. In other words, people feel betrayed by their leaders (the people who have the natural responsibility to take care of them, not abuse them). Some of those people decide to do something about it and sometimes that involves what most people call murder, but certainly some would call it “a cry for help.” Given the moral relativism (situational ethics) of our media, it is surprising they don’t pick up on that nuance of opinion. Unfortunately, they seem to only notice that in certain situations, like when a wife murders her husband in cold blood and then claims that he abused her and then gets away with murder. It is enough to make you think, they are two faced/hypocrites/liars.

In just the 17 years from 1963 to 1980 we had JFK assassinated, MLK assassinated, Bobby Kennedy assassinated, George Wallace crippled in an attempted assassination, Gerald Ford was in an attempted assassination Twice, and Ronald Reagon nearly died in an attempted assassination. btw at least half of the perps were nuts, like this latest nut, but no one was lying about the “real motive” being caused from all the “dangerous rhetoric” (probably because the Democrats weren’t looking for a life-line after suffering the worst rejection from the public in 70 years)

Shamelessly using a horrible tragedy where a 9 year old girl died to try and help themselves politically is just going to disgust the public with the morally bankrupt democrats even more than they felt on November 2.
This more than anything sums up what is going on here. Well said.
