I think this came about in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo shootings. The lady who helped sponsor this has her own website. She talks okay but I’m not sure if this was a good idea to put on a contest.
All this said, these suspects it is reported had an explosive device in their car. Heavens. What if they had thought to just do a random attack somewhere?
20 shots fired and I guess the suspects are dead and no serious injuries, sounds like it could have been worse.
Maybe they had grenades, that has not been confirmed but I heard it, something like grenades could come across the border or come across elsewhere. I don’t hear grenades being found ordinarily in America.

Two heavily-armed gunmen suspected to have been carrying explosives have been shot dead after opening fire outside an anti-Muslim art exhibition in Dallas.

In my view, it is unnecessarily provocative to organise an event of this nature, for the sole purpose of proving some kind of dubious point.

I believe that artists/cartoonists should be free to draw whoever they choose but be prepared that if you are going to draw Mohammed some serious life/death stuff is going to go down.
Is it worth putting your life, your friends lives, security guards and police officers lives at risk? Weigh that against your freedom of expression right.

Couldn’t the same argument be said 2000 years ago by saying Jesus is the Christ? Drawing Mohammed might lead to your death!!! Proclaiming Jesus as the Christ may lead to your death!!!

I get that we should respect others religions, that means don’t burn the sacred book of others and so on. They may well make a reprisal on others.
On the other hand, Christians have not done anything in response to blasphemy in the media and if Christians acted against irreverent art, I doubt they would get the defense that the artists should not have offended them or should have respected their sensibilities.

“Alls well that ends well”! Sorry that the policeman was shot in the ankle - they always put themselves on the line for the rest of us. The cartoon contest was certainly an avenue for exercising our Freedom of Speech - I hope the winner can use part of the 10 grand to help Christians that are fighting back, protecting our Faith from the Islamic terrorists (those among us and those waiting over the horizon).

There was heavy security before the event started, all credit goes to the Police here, Law Enforcement kept the peace.
As for the SPLC, they’ve been trying to ramrod same-sex marriage on the people of Alabama, the SPLC put one group on their list who got attacked by a gunman and who seemed to draw inspiration from them, the Chick Fil-A shooter. Anyone taking up what they say should also be seen for quoting an organization involved in their endeavors, oh, haven’t they put some harmless Christian organizations on their lists too.

How is painting a nice picture of Mohammed “hate”? We are subjected to Islamic law now?
I say no… I say Mohammed was a real man, and the history books deserve an image of him just like anyone else. We have pictures of Genghis Khan and many other warrior leaders. Mohamed is no different to us as far as real life is concerned.
