You know JoArtist, I’m pretty sure you’d get much different responses if you posted this thread in the traditional section, haha.

Maybe then people would actually know what you mean instead of just giving you their opinions on how it looks.

I know. I just didn’t want too much bombardment.
Can’t blame you for that. No one wants to be crucified… especially for something as shallow and insignificant as how a person chooses to look. Trust me, I would know. 🙂

People do like to do silly things like crucify people who look a little different or even worse for asking for help… I think you know what I mean.

I think we will have to wait for heaven to not be judged on surface appearance. It is one of the irritating features of being a member of this particular race.

Too many "speak"for God unfortunately.

Women having shorter hair is not immoral. However, (and I forget the actual teaching) I seem to recall that it is immoral for a person to intentionally make him- or herself look like the opposite gender. So I would just say to keep that in mind and discern accordingly. (I think it’s similar to clothing in a way. For the most part, specific garments are not immoral, but they can be used with good or poor judgment). As long as no one is going to look at you and think you’re a man, you’re hair is probably fine however you like it.

Saying “short hair” is a totally relative phrase though, and the standard of what is short will vary from person to person, so it’s kind of automatically vague unless we consider every possible style one by one…
There are TONS of different hairstyles that are on the shorter side, and they all look different on different people. Some people pull off different styles than others do. It is possible that some previous posters have seen women with very short haircuts that may have actually looked (subjectively) unattractive or masculine on that particular woman. I (a woman) have seen women with very short haircuts that I have found distasteful, but I have also seen women with short hair that I thought looked nice on them.

I accidentally posted not realizing that it was my husband who was logged in… I deleted that post. oops.

I find that I have a totally definition on what constitutes as short… some think it is shoulder length, some think if it goes to jawline, ect… I think the jawline and shorter constitutes as “short” hair. I personally have short hair in the back and longer in the front. I have kind of a Liza look going on. I think my hair is really short, but pretty and tasteful.

I don’t really see why anyone’d wig out about this. (Get it? Wig, because – nevermind).

I think it’s clear from a personal preference standpoint that most guys (at least if this thread is a representative sample) prefer longer hair. Some women just have the right facial structure that they can totally rock short hair; I knew a girl in high school who kept her hair shorter than mine (I keep my hair right around two inches, with a sidepart); she kept hers in place with little clips and she looked just lovely.

Morena Baccarin will be beautiful no matter what she does with her hair, though! She’s just lucky that way.

Compare that image to when she had even slightly longer hair, though, and she goes from being beautiful to sublime.
She looks unremarkable in the second picture. Definitely better with short hair.

I think she looks gorgeous with longer hair and has a different maybe to some, a chic look with shorter hair, but thats me. I am sure she has her own preference or changes it to make it new… Really its all subjective and people have different tastes and preferences.

I just have to see what you guys have to say about women with short hair. It seems every time an issue comes up about women it ends in an uproar. I know some Christian groups think that women should not cut their hair… curious on your thoughts.
I think how I wear my hair is no one’s business,
I am the one who has to fuss with it. 😛

I think when young women cut their hair short they tend to look more boyish. However, I don’t find hair to your feet super attractive, since it will probably be knotty and isn’t very normal in our culture.

Most older women have short curly hair though. They would probably look weird with long gray hair.

Why does it have to be gray? That’s what color is for. 👍

😃

I prefer natural hair color in younger women more my age. Yes, they could dye it, but I think its the cultural norm for older women to have short hair. I don’t see anything sinful about it as it is still feminine.

I don’t think most men should have long hair, but some cultures pull if off just fine. They normally don’t do it for the rocker look though. I couldn’t pull of long hair without looking like an ugly woman. 😃

The hair length thing is very cultural, I think. I remember my mother and her friends noting this some years ago: in India, it is younger girls who tend to have shorter hair and older teens/women who have longer hair but in the U.S. it seems to be the opposite. (Styling of the hair/how the hair is tied, also differs from person to person… you can have long hair but it can appear shorter because it’s tied up in a bun.)

Really? Princess Diana had short hair, I can give the names of a number of ‘gorgeous’ women with short hair. However, thats all a matter of taste and preference based on various factors. Hair, looks, make up or no make up etc has no bearing on what a person is and is of no relevance in the bigger scheme of things.
i certainly wouldnt have called Princess Dianas hair** SHORT**; so, to echo Fidelia: “Saying ‘short hair’ is a totally relative phrase…” By “short”, i mean** VERY **short, and subject to other “conditions”… Again, covered by Fidelia.
That’s just mean. I have short hair, I have since I was a little kid, I just like it better that way.
NO ONE has ever said anything like that about me.
No offence meant! 😊 See the comment above.

Women having shorter hair is not immoral…

…but I have also seen women with short hair that I thought looked nice on them.
AMEN to your entire Post. 👍

No I did not… I asked about morality not whether people think it is unattractive. I have been getting that for years…I have had short hair since I was seven and men always put me down for it. Plus it is enough to say that you prefer long hair. If I see a guy with long hair for instance, I wouldn’t say I like short hair on men, long hair is unattractive… I made clear earlier in the post I had short hair… so it is the same sort of situation. I think Debra and Catholic90 got the question, but noone else seemed to. The whole reason why I mentioned some Christian groups who think women should not cut their hair.
Actually, you said:

There is no mention of morality here. Don’t give a vauge illusion, and then expect everyone to understand. What’s so hard about typing “What’s immoral about short hair? Discuss.” And there are several posts with no moral component listed, and you managed to ignore them, until someone dared disagree with your hairstyle opinion.

Even beside the folly above; one will never be able to post a thread “Morality of not brushing your teeth” without someone posting “That’s gross!”. It’s bound to happen. You could write five times in your opening piece about how you just want to talk about the moral aspects; you will get what you expect to get.

Allow me to answer in parable:

A man finds a beaten up husk of a 1965 mustang. He rebuilds the engine, patches the body and cleans the interior so you could eat off the floor. He then paints the exterior with flat grey paint from a can, and applies it with a 3" horsehair brush. Many may be envious of the car, few will find the paint job appealing. Some will, no doubt. They will assure him that his counter-cultural message resonates. Most will just not mention it, or say “it’s nice” simply to be polite, especially if he gets easily offended by slights against his paint. Still others will toss around the notion, “It’s his car, let him do as he will.”

Studies have shown that how nice a car looks is a factor in how attractive a man is seen by women, and his likeliness of getting a date.

But is it immoral for such a fantastic car to have such a lousy looking coat of paint? Discuss.

Well that is funny because two people did understand. That is the whole reason I talked about some Christian groups thinking it was sinful for women to cut their hair. So no, I did not ask about the aesthetics, I asked about morality.
