Yes! In fact the Catechism specifically lists beer pong, jello-shots and shotgunning as acceptable methods. Keg stands and flip-cup have been banned, though.

I think it depends upon the gauge of the shot gun used. 12 gauge is standard of course, but I’m not sure of the other gauges.

Of course the Code of Canon Law states that cleaning up the mess afterwards gives one a plenary indulgence.😏

It’s the sin of gluttony, and unless someone can really hold their alcohol, it is the sin of drunkenness as well.

Consuming massive quantities of alcohol for its own sake, is crude and uncultured, and speaks to me as something people would do, if they are very unimaginative in finding ways to recreate and establish bonds of friendship with their fellows. It comes across as quite gross and unintelligent. Many cultures throughout the world, those who teach their children and young adults how to enjoy alcohol responsibly, usually with a meal, would find this kind of thing repulsive.

Alcoholic beverages are intended to be consumed in moderation, with a thankful heart for their goodness and quality. The same could be said of any food or drink.

IMO shotgunning beer would be a wasteful use of both beer and ammunition but maybe you could use a tarp and duct tape to capture the beer and drink it afterwards? Just a friendly suggestion.

I would be rather fond of this kind of shotgunning, myself:

Never been. I’ve been trying to get my son to agree to go with me, to the state park where they offer this. Not sure what his mother’s reaction would be, but she will never know unless she is told.

Yeah. Drinking and hunting don’t mix unless you are hunting for a drink.
Agreed. I don’t hunt (just never been, nothing against it), but I do not drink and shoot at the same time. I rarely ever even drink in the first place, a beer with my Red Robin cheeseburger over the weekend was the first drink I’d had in a couple of months. Don’t get out to the range nearly as often I’d like anymore either.

I much prefer the range over Red Robin.

ETA — I just remembered that I did have a small glass of wine with vegetarian spaghetti bolognese week before last. Cabernet sauvignon, the Three-Buck-Chuck formerly known as Two-Buck-Chuck (i.e., Charles Shaw from Trader Joe’s).

What is shotgunning a beer?
Is it like picking the largest wine glass and guzzling prosecco?

Or

My kids…the boys…used to puncture holes in the side bottom of juice boxes
