There are some reports (not confirmed, I don’t think) that there were incidents at metro stations, too. Possibly coordinated. Will have to see how this pans out

RT reporting the shooter, who is dead, is an 18 yr old german born Iranian.
 
Seems to be another lone wolf type killing, an 18 yr old who then committed suicide. Wonder how he got a firearm.

The killer was identified early today as an 18-year-old German-Iranian who has been living in Munich for some time.

He was responding to taunts from onlookers, who filmed his movements of the car park roof of the Olympic Shopping Centre in the district of Moosach, after he went on a deadly rampage.

At least nine people have been killed in the attack yesterday evening.

The gunman’s body has been found half a mile from the scene after he reportedly turned the gun on himself.

Police now believe he may have acted alone, after they initially went in search of three gunmen. *
 
Sounds like he was mentally unhinged as he shouted expletives in relation to Turks and foreigners. Chillingly this took place 5 years to the day as the Norwegian attack by a far-right murderer.

And during a press conference today, Munich police chief Hubertus Andrae confirmed left-handed Sonboly - whose father works as a taxi driver - had no links to ISIS.

He described him as a ‘classical shooter without any political motivation’ and added that he committed suicide as he was not shot by police.
 
But being described as “mentally ill” doesn’t really explain it. The vast majority of mentally ill persons did not kill in the past, and do not kill in the present. But the tiny minority of mentally ill are killing a lot more today than 50 years ago. Why?

Garbage in is garbage out.

Mentally ill people may lack the reality checks and ability of self-containment of people with less baggage, but what has changed in the past 50 years is the rise of strong anti-american and anti-western sentiment, where people no longer believe in Western civilization, and undermine it and demonize it as the root of the world’s evil.

People with the ability to self-control are able to absorb this without necessarily shooting up a bunch of ‘despicable’ westerners. People without the ability to control their resentments act them out.
With the Apology Tour of Obama eight years ago, this anti-Western sentiment described above has become the norm. The biggest soap box in the world is proclaiming it, and ISIS is telling people how to fight back against western civ.

That is the garbage in. Shootings and rape jihad in Munich is the garbage out.

It is just basic Information Technology logic.

Actually if you look at the list of rampage killings in the US (which after all accounts for over 90% of such cases) then actually this happened with some frequency from the turn of the last century until the 1950s. There then seems to have been a halt before this resumed and intensified in the mid 1960s.
