I guess it would be when one takes their focus from God and turns it towards vain amusements and such.

I don’t know why you can’t find a correspondence with them.

It is not cryptic. I for real can’t see how you don’t understand.

First, the two statements I quoted contradict one another. That’s why I don’t understand. Second, it doesn’t matter if you “can’t see” why I don’t understand. It’s still up to you to provide an explanation of your own comments when they’re unclear.

Yes, anything that distracts us from God should most definitely be avoided, but that’s a long jump to say none of us should watch movies. It may very well be true for you, but to suggest that movies distract all of us from God sounds like a pompous attitude.

I didn’t say not to watch movies. Most people are distracted. I am not trying to put myself on a high horse.

You misunderstand. One can focus on God in duties and maybe in amusements. But most of the time amusements pull us away from being focused on Him and then we start thinking mostly about them.

So again…
I’m currently working with a play about the Holocaust. It’s quite telling about the human condition and suffering. I can’t say that it’s focusing on God, specifically. Is it wrong, then, to read, study, and teach it? What about watching Thomas the Tank Engine films with my son? Should we not do so since we’re only doing so for entertainment’s sake?

You can if you want want, but if it becomes a distraction it probably would more useful to do something more God centered.

OsculeturMeOsculo

Watching movies is kind of a waste of time.
Here’s a copy of your post. It sounds rather overgeneralized to me, but I apologize if it does not.

Well I did try to clarify it later.
