Happy Feast of St. Isidore, the Farmer.

 I have had a huge amount of bi-sexual friends during my lifetime. I have never had any homosexual relationships nor was I ever even attracted to another man, but for some reason many of my friends have had homosexual sex. This topic of how I end up having so many friends that have same sex attraction has confused 🤷 me for years. It seems that about 90% of my long-term friends have had homosexual relationships. This was true all through high school and even college and after college. These people don’t come up and immediately tell me they are homosexuals, I really don’t have that great of a gay-dar, so to speak.

Anyways, I have wondered 🤷 for a long time why these people are the way they are. After being friends with them so long I have had a hard time not being their friend after I find out they are bi-sexual men. If they were repentant bi-sexual men, I probably wouldn’t have that big of a problem with it, but these people are not repentant.

Obviously, it is not a sin to have same sex attraction, but it is a sin to lust after another man or to have sex with him. My old-time friends do both lust and sex with men, they all act very masculine and are attracted to women but they are same sex attracted to other men too.

I recently spoke to an Abbot of a monastery and this is what he told me on the subject. 👍

"-Human beings are men or women, period. Some poor folk are born with both male and female organs, but this is what is meant by “the exception proves the rule.” The terrible cross these people have just proves that we are men or women.

–Of course, there are men or women, from the beginning of the world, who had the affliction of same-sex attraction, but there were and are, REALLY, just men and women with confusion about their identity (due to sin…). God is good. He did not create absurd people who seem to be men but are really women. We can trust creation, and we and trust the moral law of the Church.

–So most of these guys you say are “gay” are just men (attracted to women deep down) who are confused, because of sin and because people in our society promote these behaviors. These young people frequent the media, where they are told sexual perversion is OK. And they fall for this lie. Then they wind up committing suicide, because this perversion does not work."

"-Sexuality, but definition, by nature, by God’s plan, by everything really, is about a relationship between a man and a woman, having must to do with (by not exclusively) procreation of children. Between two men, whatever it is (a pathetic substitute, a mental illness, sin) it is not really sexuality and there is no biological basis for it at all.

–The unnatural and weird attraction that occurs between two men or two women is not easy to explain, except that sin has caused damage to the human race and if, for whatever reason, normal sexuality is impossible or seems impossible, because of sin human beings have the capacity to use this other (false) mode to express their sexuality. Deep down men are attracted to women, but in their difficulties and mental confusion they get a “short circuit” you might say and are pulled into this perverse behavior. It is really just a particularly bad type of sin.

May God preserve us from this plague! We must have pity on those infected, however, as sometimes there is almost no fault on the part of the person engaging in this. Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us." -Words of the Abbot. 👍

So as this holy Abbot said, sometimes these people have almost no fault on their part engaging in this sin. I agree, sin has three sources: the world, the flesh, and the devil. I honestly think homosexuality is a huge demonic deception and people that fall into this sin are duped by the devil. All sins have a huge demonic component, as does every sin on an examination of conscience, and the sin of homosexuality is no different.

The homosexuals seem to fall into this sin because of the lie from the sexual revolution that sexual promiscuity is a good thing and is the life for a male to have. Also, I feel they fall into this trap, due to the use of artificial contraceptives leading society to think that sex is separate from procreation and is therefore all about pleasure separate from procreation (due to contraceptives) so these people fall into a huge misconception.

Our Holy Church has long taught (from the Old Testament) there are four sins crying to heaven for vengeance.
  1. Willful murder
  2. The sin of Sodom (homosexuality)
  3. Oppression of the poor
  4. Defrauding laborers of their wages
When my friends tell me about their homosexual relationships or I hear it from other people I never praise or flatter their behavior, defend the sin, or consent to it.

I have had to give up many friends who partake in this behavior, unrepentant. I feel homosexuality is a hugely evil sin. God punished Sodom in the Old Testament for it, by sending fire and brimstone. God is going to punish people who do this, and I don’t want to be anywhere near these people when He does. I encourage my friends to repent from this behavior then I severe all contact with them. I think it is important to not associate with bad company as the saints encourage us to do. I do try and evangelize my friends, but if they don’t have a conversion after a period of time, then I have to end the friendship, especially over such a severe offense to God. To Christ through Mary, Michael.

My only question is do you treat other sinners with the same disdain?

If you know someone who is cheating on their spouse, do you follow the same guidelines?

If someone has lots of resources but does not share them with the poor, do you warn them, then cut them off if they don’t start giving to the poor?

Do you reprimand people for using the Lord’s name in vain, then cut them off when they continue to do so?

Try reading Luke 18:9-14 for a better answer.

Jesus always sat with the sinners we sinners are who need Christ. How can you spread God’s love and holy word if we don’t interact with those who need Christ. We are to love the sinner and hate the sin as Jesus did.

Luke Chapter 6

2 If you love those who love you, what credit can you expect? Even sinners love those who love them.

33 And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit can you expect? For even sinners do that much.

34 And if you lend to those from whom you hope to get money back, what credit can you expect? Even sinners lend to sinners to get back the same amount.

35 Instead, love your enemies and do good to them, and lend without any hope of return. You will have a great reward, and you will be children of the Most High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked.

36 'Be compassionate just as your Father is compassionate.

37 Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven.

38 Give, and there will be gifts for you: a full measure, pressed down, shaken together, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap; because the standard you use will be the standard used for you.’.

All you can do is model a christian lifestyle…don’t be mean, but be firm in your beliefs.

To put it most simply:
Love the sinner, hate the sin.
As in all things, do as if Christ was at your side, because He is.

Knowing people that are homosexual would be no problem. Treat all with human dignity. One thing you do not do though. You do not join gay pride marches and fight for their right to do whatever. That lays their sin at your feet.

If you become friends you may find it is harder for them to accept your beliefs. That will be the real test of friendship.

One lady I listen to on a pod cast pointed out that Jesus did sit with publicly known sinners. But he didn’t go to their table, they came to where He was eating. 🙂 They wanted to be His friend, and learn from Him.

People who are happy with their lifestyle and choices are probably not wanting to be lectured or ‘judged’. I had a friend who wouldn’t come to my wedding because she didn’t want to have to explain herself or what is going on in her life to my mom! Trust me at my wedding my mom wasn’t going to be grilling or saying more than five words to anyone in particular, too much to do too many people to see. But this shows how acutely my friend knew that her lifestyle was wrong.

That list of the four things that cry out for vengeance, is a great list. But it is God’s vengeance.

We become like those we choose to be around that is a factor in my choice of friendships.

Most likely in today’s world most actively gay people are probably not interested in a true Catholic Lifestyle. Many singles aren’t interested in chastity either.

I tend to lump ‘sodomy’ with just about anyone, straight or gay, who are taking part in illicit sexual relationships. If you look up the definition it’s not referencing to SSA, it’s sexual behavior that many ‘straight’ people can and do participate in today.

Disordered sexual orientation can be one of the most publicly obvious manifestations of all disorders, even though the physical relations are private. Some manage to conceal it, but bear the internal tension and incongruity, while others cannot conceal it and bear the harsh and inconsiderate words and stares of others. It is truly a very heavy cross to bear as it opposes the very nature of the affected person. Whether they struggle against it or not, they are made in God’s image and likeness; He loves them infinitely and will grant them the grace to triumph over it - if they seek it. All are due respect for their human dignity. Prayer on their behalf is a spiritual work of mercy. The best prayer, as I see it, is that they will struggle to bear their cross that they may ultimately be freed of the disorder so as to enjoy the Beatific Vision alongside all of the Saints.

First I’d say yes to your initial and foremost question in your title, second I’d ask if someone has ever lied to you? Then I’d ask if you are still friends with them? Finally I’d point out that St Paul says that those who sin in homosexuality are just the same as those who are liars.

I personally think you need to start to view people from God’s point of view. Jesus tells us to put on His yoke, well a yoke typically has two spots one for Jesus and one for you. So if Jesus loves them, sits with them, eats with them, why shouldn’t you? If God has Divine Mercy and commands us to be like Him, then why are you not having mercy on these people, who I might add are Gods sons and daughters.

Read into St Vitalios he worked all day long in the hot sun in Egypt and spent his entire days wages on a prostitute every night, stayed with her all night to make sure she didn’t work and preached the gospels. One day he was martyred and at his funeral hundreds if not thousands of prostitutes showed up and the basic message they all said was that he gave them hope, he showed them they were worth something in the eyes of God, he brought them to love the Lord.

Finally let me ask you, do you think your actions bring these people closer to God or further away? I am disturbed by the fact that you cut ties with them. Brother let me tell you, this is not the way of Saints nor of God. God never cuts ties with anyone!

While Jesus indeed sat with the sinners, and healed and preached to them, His primarily fellowship, His friends were the 12 Apostles.

There were sinners in that group. They’re desire to sin changes because of His influence, and it didn’t work in every case. Judas did betray Him.

In response to your replies, I know God loves the homosexual people. And yes, I understand Jesus ate with the sinners. He spoke with the woman at well, and told her her sin. I do the same, I however am not going to be friends with the people who are not going to repent after my repeated tries. So no, I am not friends with them any longer. I don’t see the need to be friends with them if they don’t convert and repent. I will always be there for them when they do have a conversion.

And yes, I do treat other sins the same that are in the category of the four grave sins I listed and many other grave sins. I sure as heck am not going to hang out with a murderer, or a miser who doesn’t pay the worker his due wages. The homosexual sin is objectively evil. I am not going to hang out with people who do evil. I have learned the hard way that evil people have really evil spirits and I don’t want these evil spirits attacking me. Plus, the saints didn’t hang out with bad company. St. Louis de Montfort said that and so did St. Thomas Aquinas.

Here are some bible verses on the topic, 👍
1 Cor. 15:33, “Do not be deceived bad company ruins good morals.”
This bible verse speaks clearly, we are not to be in bad company.

1 John 3:7-8, “Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.”

Ps. 1:1-6, “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; …”

Proverbs 12:26, “One who is righteous is a guide to his neighbor, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.”

2 Cor. 6:14, “Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?”

:p:p I am a weak sinner, if I hang out with the ungodly, I soon will be practicing their ways. Wake up Catholics, you can’t risk your soul trying to save others.

I am sure you can find friends in your parish or another nearby parish, that take their faith seriously and desire to grow in it. They have bible studies, prayer groups, socials, theology on tap, etc.

There is a lot there.
But just quickly. It would be odd to have 90 percent homosexual or bi friends.
And if they are not repentant, and are not drawn away from sin and to holiness by your friendship, then perhaps your faith is in the closet.

My faith is definitely not in the closet. I had the majority of these friends since I was 8 years old. I went to a public high school. My old friends never told me they were bi-sexual until recently cause they knew how I felt about it. I honestly don’t know why though, even many of my friends in college and at work have been bi-sexual. When I was in college my nick name was “fag-mag” because all the homosexuals used to gravitate toward me. I am a very Catholic guy, I think they must be drawn to me because I used to be good looking and I am real nice guy. So yes, homosexuals love me, but they don’t love my Catholicism though.

A Franciscan motto is " preach the gospel always, if necessary use words. Looks like it might be necessary.

Do you have a girlfriend, wife? Kids?

You say fruit should be seen, a heart converted. I have converted only 4 to the Catholic faith that I know of, but these were dramatic conversions. I may have influenced more people to the faith that I am not aware of, but I know of at least 4 people. The biggest conversion has been in my own life. I owe such a conversion to my consecration to Jesus through Our Lady by the way described by St. Louis de Montfort, also the daily rosary had a huge impact, the Divine Office too, and the daily Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary as well. I will soon move to a town where they have daily mass, that will also become a part of my daily life. I have seen so much fruit in my own life it is ridiculous, I really have increased dramatically in sanctity, I don’t have any sin that I am attached too anymore, even venial. I am only 38. So I want to go to a daily mass so I can offer up plenary indulgences to the souls in purgatory. I desire union with God through Our Lady, that is the main goal.

Someone asked if I was married, no I am not married. I am a 38 year old single man by choice, I gave up marriage so I could devote more time to prayer. I dated before, but discerned what I really want is a prayerful life and a penitential life directed solely toward God. I discerned the priesthood before when I was much younger, but it was decided that life was not for me. I am fine and perfectly happy with anything as long as I am living holy. Praise be to Jesus Christ!
