Should I say something about IVF?

Make no mistake, this woman is your boss. She has the upper-hand. This isn’t the same as a “two girlfriends talking about fertility” situation. Truthfully, it is inappropriate for her to share these personal details with a subordinate, no matter how friendly.

If you value your job, don’t remark about it. If you feel you must, you could say something along the lines of “Well that sounds like an easy fix. My Church doesn’t allow that, though.” Of course, that will still be probamatic because you said she considers herself to be of the same church as you.

Bottom line, if you call her out on it, she will get defensive (and undertsandably so). Words like “evil” and implication that she will be discarding “babies” isn’t going to go over well for you as an employee. If job stability isn’t important to you (it may not be, for some) then have at it. Otherwise, change the subject.

Answer “Hmmm, that is interesting” and then change the subject.

Your being a great employee, keeping your head down and doing a solid day’s work, the way you are loving and dependable will speak volumes. Alienating your boss by calling her out as a sinner will not win a soul.

USCCB has many documents you could suggest she read (if she asks again)

This is not to the OP but to all those who say, “it is none of your business.” Please consider that with this immediate dismissal you are missing a precious oppurtunity to share the truth, to possibly save souls, and prevent the discarding of human life. Every thing that you come across in every moment was planned or allowed by God to come to you. It is your business, God allowed it in your life. Stepping out in faith to share His plan for human life and moral truths is what you are sent to do. Do not keep Jesus from this moment, have faith in His message to touch hearts and change minds.

yeah, tell me about it, totally wasn’t expecting it to pop up like that.

I wish scientists had never goen down that road, but I guess we’re a bit late for that

wouldn’t giving her the articles to read have the same effect?, I obviously wouldn’t be saying that she is evil or a sinner directly.

Not really, IF she brings it up you could say “I have read a couple of articles, you might want to look at these”.

If your boss did not want you to tell her how you felt about it, she should not have told you.
You’re kidding, right? People always bring up topics expecting agreement and approval. If you disagree they argue with you to convince you that they’re right. And that’s not a position I would want to be in with the person who could set my work schedule, not give me a raise, make sure I get all the drudge work, etc.

You should follow your conscience and apply prudence. But I tried to think of something for you to say if you choose to.

If she brings it up again, I would say something like “be careful with that. there are all sorts of complications. I’ve researched it before because I was interested in the subject.”

Then maybe throw out something leading like “Ask the doctor what happens to any of your unused fertilized eggs. They are valuable. They are a unique set of dna. You don’t want just anything to happen to them.”
