Should you wear your rosary?

I keep one hanging there for many reasons, too: to thank God I have a car and count my blessings beefore I turn the car on (kind of like buckling your safety belt before you put the keys in the ignition.)

I I have several rosary CDs when I drive, so I like to see it and although I cannot touch it, I am comforted when I pray along.

I touch it when I get into the car to pray for protection and ask God ith the three “Hail Mary” beads for good reaction time, safely after I touch it when there is a “near miss” to an accident.

I pray three Hail Mary’s when I see a funeral or an ambulance go by, (along with the “Eternal Rest” prayer, I pray when I touch it to see if I should stop to help a broken-down motorist, and I touch it (and make the sign o the cross often , too) to give thanks that I made it to my destinaton safely.

It’s my lifeline to Jesus through Mary, even / especially when driving.
As I am writing this thread, my son had a motor vehicle accident where his car was sandwiched between two vehicles. His car is totaled.

He walked away without a scratch…there is a rosary hanging from his rearview mirror… I’m the one that prays it daily…❤️

Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum.

My Grandpa would always tell us his amazing story of his Catholic faith. He flew a B-24 in WWII and would wear a rosary around his neck so he was able to keep both hands on the controls. He also knew that he was flying over Catholic country so…if ever his plane crashed (and thanks be to God it didn’t) and he didn’t survive, then someone would notice the rosary and give him a Catholic burial.

In situations such as that I believe a rosary could, even should be worn around the neck. But for jewelry purposes…absolutely not.

God bless the angels who circled your son that day. God bless your son and the recovery of the othe drivers. And God bless you for your dedication and commitment to God and Our Lady.

That’s how we know the rosary isn’t a talisman, but a sign of “To Jesus Through Mary.”

Thank you for sharing your story and all I’ll add is “Thank G-d.” And I would keep that rosay near me if I were him, or make it a gift to you !

XOXOXO,

So is it safe to say that once I purchase my Franciscan Rosary, that I may wear it around my neck as long as my devotion to it remains in proper respect as a blessed object?

I would say no, because then you’re coming off as one who tries to advertise his religion.

Now, I understand and am in favor of preaching the Good News, but wearing a rosary seems sort of like a cry for attention. If someone asks about your religion, then you should be free to tell them.

If a person wears it underneath their clothing, where it’s not visible, then in no way is it advertising their religion.

Besides which, isn’t wearing, say, a crucifix or a medal similarly advertising your religion? I don’t wear a Rosary in public but what I do wear has gotten one or two questions.

And how are people going to ask in the first place if you don’t ‘let your light shine’? This is one way to do it.
