This addresses the Shroud prior to the mid-14th century:Well, someone was able to reproduce the shroud using medieval methods. Whether it is authentic is still a matter of scientific and historical debate. There is no historical record of this shroud prior to the mid-14th century and scientific testing did reveal the presence of red ochre. So, there are still three possibilities. It could be real, it could be a medieval fake, or it could be real with medieval embellishment.
