Simpering young woman

Really? I honestly didn’t realize that the ads go away if you’re a patron… I’ve donated to CAF in the past but not since this new system. Been on CAF since 2004… this might motivate me to actually sign up…

I had one girlfriend before my wife. Never did casual dating. From what others tell me, it does indeed sound like a nightmare.

Since I am not a patron I am ok with ads. I find the lady in the commercial not particularly annoying. Always better than the other commercial I get on CAF all the time, the one about dirty toilet bowls… 😂

Try not to blame the young woman for the fact that the ad she’s in keeps getting replayed in front of you. She can’t help it.

Maybe take the opportunity to offer up a prayer for her each time, instead?

I got a giggle out of this. I think the footage is likely stock. I have to rifle through tons of stock images for my day job and it’s very trying at times.

Buuuut nonetheless the ads are there for a reason, and God’s blessings on anyone looking for a happy match on there.

That advertisement is ok, the problem is its obsessive repetition: you get it 20 times a day.
err, wait a minute: are there really still browsers in use that allow video to autoplay?

I’ve never blocked anything for being an ad, ever.

However, I block anything that blinks or moves, including alleged “content” carousels, as they make it impossible. I started using junikbuster (RIP) on a reasonably fast 486 which came to a halt trying to service two pages full of gifs I"d somehow managed to load.
I read that as “…bigger coeds to fry…” 😱
I’ve always thought they tasted better smoked, but that may come from my concerns about cholesterol . . .

Why don’t you offer it up as penance?
I know you mean well but all I hear is “I will suffer in silence because I shouldn’t change the world for the better.”

It really is a stupid ad.

To “suffer in silence” as you say gives the wrong understanding of “offer it up”.

My understanding is that I do have a choice - i can complain (when my complaint is not directed to those who can do something about it, which i dont think is right) or a just complaint to right a wrong/injustice. Some criticisms are necessary, but other times unnecessary.

The other option is to offer up this irritation/annoyance in reparation for our sins or for the conversion of sinners etc. all off which gains merit for us.

That particular section of the video is silly i agree. Wouldn’t it be better to express your concerns by emailing CA, who have the ability to actually change matters?

Is it? I mean, it’s annoying because you’ve seen it a billion times, but I don’t get what’s so objectionable about it.

CAF needs revenue to operate and while no one likes ads you gotta do something.

I think the OP is referring to the gal at the very beginning with the huge toothy grin, and the almost in-your-face approach. I find that one annoying, too. There’s no way you can ignore her because she’s right there, filling up most of the frame, and seems to be looking right at you. The others aren’t so intrusive.

And yes, “simpering” it a good adjective for her.

PaulinVA:
Give some money to CAF and make the ads go away if they bother you.
Why would I pay money to participate in an online forum? Plenty of free options out there.
Have you… not seen the title of this thread? ( 🙂) Because the answer to your question is there. The OP complained about seeing an ad the funds from which presumably help keep CAF running. @PaulinVA was just suggesting that if it bothers them enough on balance, they can give money to CAF themselves, to view an ad-free version of the site.

It’s up to the OP, and to you, whether on balance you prefer to see ads alongside free content, or prefer to pay a small fee to access content without ads. But there is a choice. (Obviously, of course, you could just leave the site altogether and not access its content at all. That’s also an available choice.)
