Yes. It’s linked somewhere above.Doesn’t Church Militant make the exact same claim?
Yes. It’s linked somewhere above.Doesn’t Church Militant make the exact same claim?
Not in this article. Link, please? The NY Times shamelessly and baselessly claimed that up to 3/4 of our holy clergy are homosexuals.
Maybe there was something going on in the parish, or in the area, that made him think he needed to do this. Do you know more about this that the rest of us?But why even bring it up at all??? Why not just keep it where it belongs, between himself and God?
Yep.No. But apparently you do. Otherwise as I said, why bother bringing it up at all and draw a huge standing ovation and disrupt the entire Mass. I agree with what Cardinal Ratzinger had to say about applause at Mass. This appears to bring the focus off of Christ, where it belongs, on to himself. But maybe that’s just me.
I did read the article. The Times itself claims no such thing.Yes in the article. Read the quote in my first post.
It may indeed take courage, but does the Church not say that candidates with deep-seated homosexual tendencies should not be admitted to the priesthood? Is standing up and openly declaring that you, as a priest, are homosexual not giving the message that it is acceptable?it should be obvious why it would take courage for a parish priest to announce his SSA
In addition to not knowing exactly what his sexual orientation was when he was admitting seminary, this priest was admitted to seminary long before the 2005 instruction was issued by Pope Benedict.but does the Church not say that candidates with deep-seated homosexual tendencies should not be admitted to the priesthood?
Being homosexual is acceptable, even in the clergy. So, by “it” I’m guessing that you’re referring back to the 2005 instruction. I don’t see that this priest’s admission gives the message that any of the following are acceptable for seminarians:Is standing up and openly declaring that you, as a priest, are homosexual not giving the message that it is acceptable?
those who practise homosexuality, present deep-seated homosexual tendencies or support the so-called “gay culture”
Apparently his bishop didn’t think so. And given that the 2005 instruction is enforced, one who wishes to join a seminary would be clearly mistaken to disregard the instruction in favor of an anecdote.does announcing his homosexuality to applause not send the wrong message?
YES!!! Hearsay is a form of gossip and “blanket slander” AKA IMMORAL AND UNETHICAL reporting. There’s a difference between making a claim yourself (…) and reporting what someone else says

In other words, “I don’t like the story, so I’m just going to claim it’s false without any evidence to back me up.”I don’t believe it’s 2 dozens. I don’t believe it’s “on record”. I don’t believe they are actively priests (might be ex-priests, might be seminarians, might be guys with SSA that have a solid vocation - and anything they likely didn’t say would have gotten twisted&distorted anyway…).
CCC 2495 "It is necessary that all members of society meet the demands of justice and charity in this domain. They should help, through the means of social communication, in the formation and diffusion of sound public opinion."Solidarity is a consequence of genuine and right communication and the free circulation of ideas that further knowledge and respect for others.
Sarcasm and weak adjectives speak only of their author. If I’m ever feeling weak and backed into a corner, I could look to the Catholic League to act like a paranoid rabid chihuahua on my behalf. But I usually don’t feel so victimized and oppressed to ever turn to Bill Donahue and The Catholic League.
Having homosexual tendencies is not sinful, acting on them ishypocritical for condemning homosexuality while having upwards of 75% homosexual clergy.
