I donât know whatâs hard to understand from your questionI donât think you are understanding what I am asking. That is ok.![]()
The church does teach that in his infanent mercy, God will not condem the ignorant. That said, when the ignorant are exposed to the full truth of Christ, it is their duty to accept it. More over, being fully ignorant of the truth of Christ and God makes salvation more difficult, it tends to make one fall pray to Satan and his fellow daemons who would lead souls afowl of the natural law, which no one is blameless for breaking.I donât think itâs as simple a matter as a list of mandatory beliefs. The Catholic Church teaches that itâs even possible for someone who has never heard the name of Jesus to be saved (see CCC 1260). I think itâs more important how we live our lives, in search of the Truth and and of righteousness. Thus the words of Christ as referenced above to love the Lord and love your neighbor.
That said, the teachings of the Church are extremely important - they are, in fact, Truth - and knowing and following all of them is the surest way to final salvation! And knowing the teachings of the Church and rejecting them is a path to condemnation.
I just notice that you disagree with Jimy Akin, a fellow Catholic.you still questioned Jesusâs words over Jimy Akinâs guide to Salvation![]()
If you wish to become unconfused, I suggest you get and read a copy of theOK. Now you guys are really confusing me.
One guy posts a number of articles by Jimy Akin that mention none of this. The articles just mention Jesus and his death on the cross. At first glance they sound pretty good.
Then the next guy posts a laundry list of stuff. Now not all of this is beliefs.
You all are giving me the impression you donât know what beliefs are mandatory for salvation.
Hey - I just posted on another thread about this so I had a list started. if you can find any other please add to the list:Just asking the question?
Please provide support for your assertions.
Just to clarify, it is you who are not understanding Jimmy Akin and are thus confused. Read what he says, not just about justification. Notice that the word justification is not the word salvation. They are do different words with two different meanings. Salvation, as Jimmy Akin points out, is a process, not a single event.OK. Now you guys are really confusing me.

I read that other article and nowhere do I find him stating this long laundry list of other beliefs that are mandatory for salvation. Sorry, but I did not see it there either.Just to clarify, it is you who are not understanding Jimmy Akin and are thus confused. Read what he says, not just about justification. If you do not want to read all of what Jimmy Akin says, that is fine, but do not claim to know what he teaches when you arenât going to read it all. One article that he wrote can be found on the previous link, but I will provide it again and maybe it will help clear some of the confusion up. Click here for more than just the justification argument of Jimmy Akin.
God Bless.
Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith;and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.
That is my answer.
One more thing, it does not mention the church you must attend.
I have tried reading this. Sorry but Catholic Christianese is often hard for me to understand. I need people to translate it to English. If you wish to become unconfused, I suggest you get and read a copy of the
Catholic Church Catachism
OKâŚthis is better. And now you are sort of answering my question.
I havenât read Jimmy Akin so I cannot address his stuff directly.I have tried reading this. Sorry but Catholic Christianese is often hard for me to understand. I need people to translate it to English.

Is the claim then that everyone who is in heaven at least after the time of Christ must hold all of these beliefs?. That is what I mean âmandatory for salvationâ. If so, then the only folks in heaven are card carrying, orthodox Catholics.
Why when I read Jimy Akin doesnât he mention this then?
That is the problem. Your are looking for a list in an explanation. He goes through the process of salvation which includes baptism, the Eucharist, confession to a priest, etc. The âlistâ is there but ultimately the requirement is that you must die in a state of grace. To be in this state of grace will be dependent on when you die. If you live a full life, you will have a longer list than if you are an infant. This is because truth is revealed to us throughout out life and as we receive it, we must chose to accept it or deny it. We are responsible for what we know and what God has revealed to us.I read that other article and nowhere do I find him stating this long laundry list of other beliefs that are mandatory for salvation. Sorry, but I did not see it there either.
You are right once again, Tweety!Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ
