Thread to discuss the winter Olympics at Sochi, Russia
SOCHI SCENE: No FBI or CIA
A sign that says “We do not serve FBI and CIA agents,” hangs outside a restaurant on the opening day of the 2014 Winter Olympics, Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, in Krasnaya Polyana, Russia. (AP Photo/Jae C. Hong)

Or, pause for the briefest moment and then go inside radiating, “no one needs to know I’m CIA” or “screw it; I do what I want.” I’m just saying this as someone who had convinced a few people I worked for the CIA.http://binaryapi.ap.org/5faf04ee838747f99fe5c14786c36cd9/460x.jpg
That would be a fun place to have a beer and sit and purposely look guilty…
In my mind, Putin is a scoundrel, but the Russian people are not scoundrels. With this “don’t solicit our kids” thing, Putin is playing to a fundamental Russian sense of decency, or at least aspiration to decency.Western media sure is going the extra mile to try and make the Russians look bad. Hope these games are a tremendous success for Russia.
I agree. This was an incredibly fantastic and beautiful opening. Congratulations to Russia!!I would say this is probably the best opening ever. Great performance by the Russians!
I can’t make a comparison (I’ve missed more than a few opening and closing ceremonies) but I thought it was classy and hit all the right notes. My favorite part was the winter sports constellations lighting up and the starry floor. Magical!Currently watching it and I watched the last one in London. I would say this is probably the best opening ever. Great performance by the Russians!
