My belief about this is not based on speculations but on facts. It is a fact for instance that the Scriptures alone are the inspired-inerrant Word of God. Even your own church believes as much.
100% WRONG! They remain inspired, as they are truth, which always existed. They are inerrant only with proper Catholic interpretation, which you do not currently have. Thus, your confusion.

May the Holy Spirit illumine your heart and mind.

What is the “proper Catholic interpretation” in regards to the Scriptures?

The Apostles Creed is a good start.

Exegesis not Eisegesis, and not scripture alone.

Peace,onenow1:coffee: :
What are principles of sound Exegesis?

How would one know if they are Eisegesis a passage and not Exegesis?

I cannot believe you would ask this. You go to the Church, the “pillar and foundation of truth” for the answers. If you have any interest at all, why not go to either inquiry or RCIA classes to find out?

I take you don’t know what it means either. Correct? 🤷

Are you saying your church possesses letters of the apostles Peter beyond the 2 letters in the NT?
She is speaking of letters by the successors of Peter, like the letters of Clement.

Not really, ja4. It is an article of faith, recieved in faith, and passed on in faith.

Since you have rejected the authority of the Aposotlic faith, you really have no way to show taht the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God. The writing, assembly, and propagation of it is entirely Catholic Tradition. 🤷

For starters, that is should not be separated from the Sacred Tradition from whence it came. 👍

Good topic for a new thread. If one’s interpretation is consistent with the Apostolic Faith which was handed down through the succession.

Off topic and provocative trolling.

You ask the One True Church to tell you.
 Where do you go to ask the One True Church? Do you call someone on the phone or go to a church? What?

Most passages are easy to interpret. Some cause so much difficulty that non-Catholics are willing to risk their eternal salvation just to have their personal opinion.
  1. Matthew 26:26-27
  2. John 6
  3. 1 Corinthians 11:17-34
For Catholics, this is the basis, the very foundation of our faith. It came from the Sacred Tradition which He taught. It appeared later in the bible. Non-Catholics dismiss the words of Christ as mere babbling about symbolism. They conveniently forget to note that he did not phrase this as a parable.

Yes! Sola scriptura has many confused, as with the 33,000 +/- disagreeing non-Catholic “denominations”.
You must be darned tired of it!

You go to the oldest human organization in the world, founded by Jesus Christ, and which has proclaimed the truth for 1,975 years without fail. The Lord loves you so much that He, in His Magnificence, has conveniently placed a parish in your neighborhood! That is where you go. It is where I went.

If you were to go to 3-4 different looking for an answer to what a passage of Scripture meant do you think you would find identical answers?

Secondly how would you know if the answer you get is correct since the church has interpreted less than 20 verses of the Scriptures infallibly? Would this not mean you are just getting someone’ private interpretation?

You are looking for excuses here. There are 33,000 excuses not to be Protestant, yet you remain in that camp.

You are correct in that very few passages have been interpreted by the Church. These were in response to heresies, as are almost all Church pronouncements.

How about whispering a scripture passage around the room. Will it come back the same? No.

You seek out the most orthodox teaching. That which has not varied from the truth. You test what you are told and keep the good. There are bad teachings in some parishes. So, you compare what you hear to the Catechism.

What reason is there for believing that the Church is infallible?
The Jew who is God, the God made man told us it that it would be so forever. The Church has had 1,975 years of constant attacks, schisms and strife, but persists to this day. A lie falls of its own weight.

Where did Jesus say that the Church is infallible, in that when the Church proclaims a dogma, it is infallible?

John 16:12-14 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.”

The truth is infallible, since its source, our God, is perfection.

Most likely not.
Secondly how would you know if the answer you get is correct since the church has interpreted less than 20 verses of the Scriptures infallibly? Would this not mean you are just getting someone’ private interpretation?
Because we have the Apostolic Teaching, and we know that everything written comes from the same Source, so there will be no contradiction.

The Scriptures are to be read as a unified whole, and not broken up peicemeal.

In any case, why would it make any difference to you about infallible interpretations? You don’t believe they are infallible anyway!

So this pertains not solely to the Gospel as preached by the Apostles to all nations, but to all infallible decrees (regardless of origin), that have nothing to do with what Jesus said in John 16?
