The apostle Peter and the Roman Catholic pope are not the same thing. You said the Pope and the office of the pope are the anti-christ. Jesus Christ said that would never happen. Does the Pope or does the pope not still run the RCC. Did you not say he was the anti christ? Yes or No?
DD2007 Why have you not answer my question about John 20:19-23I’m a he.![]()
Could you please show me the difference. Jesus Christ put peter in charge and gave him the Power of the HS. Every pope who has had this passed on can be traced. Are you saying Jesus lied again and Apostolic succession died too?The apostle Peter and the Roman Catholic pope are not the same thing.
Could you answer the question. Yes or no?You said the Pope and the office of the pope are the anti-christ. Jesus Christ said that would never happen. Does the Pope or does the pope not still run the RCC. Did you not say he was the anti christ? Yes or No?
It’s kind of like what the Muslims do, in that they pick and choose the parts of the Bible (according to their belief system) they agree with.SyCarl,
Mea Culpa.
So what? If the Doctors of the Church (The Catholic Church, by the way) are sufficient to explain why Creeds are useful as summaries of the True Faith, then the Doctors of the Catholic Church should be sufficient in their views on Mary. After all, you quoted their reliance upon Scripture in expositing the Creed. Were they so trustworthy that you can use them for your purposes, but so deluded that only you can discern their truths from errors?
St. Thomas Aquinas displays his Marian devotion. The question remains:
“Where is all of that in the Scriptures, or were they already under the devilish, pagan influence of Babylon? Or were they advanced enough in the Scriptures to see?”
All my best . . .
Dear Lord. Now he is saying that when Jesus said to the RCC that I will give you the words and you cannot err in the teaching he lied again. I am speechless! That is a lie. I would never do that. I simply said that teh RCC either doesn’t understand what Jesus said or they have intentionally fabricated lies around it.
Say a prayer for the devil.Dear Lord. Now he is saying that when Jesus said to the RCC that I will give you the words and you cannot err in the teaching he lied again. I am speechless!
I believe that the Roman Catholic Church as it exists today is an apostate organization that teaches a false gospel. It is filled with deception and the office of the pope is anti-christ. I believe it is an affront for the kingdom of satan who loves nothing better than perverting the gospel of Christ and leading people away from the truth and into bondage to false doctrines based on fear.
However, there are some cathoics that are christians. I believe they should come out of the Roman Church and join the people of God.
I agree with Dr. John Macarthur’s position below:
youtube.com/watch?v=bpWDUt89t2g
Dr. Macarthur is one of the most well respected evengelical theologians inthe United States. He is also the author of the study portions of the highly acclaimed Macarthur Study bible. He has also written a commentary over the bible.this guy on his tape said that the pope is the anti-christ, its right there on his tape, listen to the tape, the guy is a real nut job
There are millions of Protestants who find it impossible to believe many of the teachings of Catholicism but also do not embrace sola scriptura. We treasure the Protestant principle of individual freedom but have studied the Bible sufficiently to know that it contains considerable folklore, nationalist propaganda, and even myth. I refer especially, of course, to the Old Testament.
Take, for example, the first 11 chapters of Genesis. If they are taken literally, together with the rest of the Bible chronology, then the Creation did occur roughly 6000 years ago. This is absurd and it is silly to argue otherwise. The Creation story in scripture is one of many from various cultures. It is not a lie. It simply is an ancient attempt to explain the beginning of the world before modern science provided us with a far more accurate version. It serves as a useful parable. And did God really punish humankind for building the Tower of Babel by causing us to speak diverse language? There probably was some ancient flood, and Noah and the Ark provides interesting folklore, but Noah getting every animal in that ark? Ridiculous! Besides, my God would not have deliberately drowned all those little ones - even babies in the womb - for the sins of their parents.
Or, what about Jehovah's order to Joshua to slay everyone in Jericho and Ai and elsewhere? And commanding Saul to kill every last Amalekite? Didn't God even follow his own Ten Commandments? What about 'suffer not a witch to live'? Oh, and those capital punishments demanded in such chapters as Ex. 21, Lev. 2, and Deut. 22-23? Stone a rebellious son to death? Give me a break! Horrendous atrocities that appear to be God-approved in the Old Testament. More like Hitler than Jesus.
There is stuff in the New Testament that is questionable, too. "Slaves, obey your masters," sounds to me like an approval of slavery.
So, millions of Protestants, I among them, gain inspiration and guidance from the Bible, but we also are free to disagree with portions of it..I have enjoyed Bible studies over the years when various members offer up possible interpretations of this or that verse.
What Christians need is a 'big tent' atmosphere. In other words, permit the freedom to disagree and respect the insights of one another. Both Catholicism and sola scriptura Protestants look for authority - the first to a church, the second to a book. I depend upon the spirit of God to help guide me. I may diverge from fellow Christians, but that doesn't trouble me. I'm sure that God doesn't punish us because we delight in individual searching and thinking. Besides, I believe - unlike most traditionalist Catholic and fundamentalist Protestants - that we're saved by simple faith and not by any creed or set of doctrines.
God bless Catholics, Protestants, Orthodox - all Christians. Then add to that Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and everyone else who seek to worship and serve God and humankind. I'm sure we'll have some fascinating discussions in heaven. May religion become a bridge and not a barrier and we grow in wisdom here on earth..
So then, in your humble opinion, how does one not get deceived by the Deciever? They read the bible, and actually know at least the OT quite well, much better than many Catholics, I’d wager.I think they are in just as much error as the RCC actually. They are deceived by the deceiver.
Post 255 Bill. I did answer it.DD2007 Why have you not answer my question about John 20:19-23
But for someone to come on here, and actually tell a RC to leave their Church, and then accuse the Holy Father as being the anti-christ. It just don’t get any more messed up than that. I would be afraid to death to go to sleep at night if I made a statement like that.
someone’s been breathing in the CARM air. Luckily for us, we know that your statements are lies. Whenever someone doesn’t have a real historical and Biblical basis for their complete Faith, just say the other guy is the anti-Christ.
Don’t worry, if you pay real attention at CARM, you’ll see a number of people that said exactly what you said, and come back to God’s Church. Try reading some of their books, you’ll be surprised at the man made traditions that you follow.
You have not got this one right John 20+23 get it right all you gave is some scriptura junping, and will you please tell me what church it must be some cult or something like one, it can.t be christianIn the passage you provided it explains that Jesus sent the apostles into the world as his apostles, gave the Spirit of truth (the Holy Spirit) when he breathen on them. The Word of God inspiring the apostles…He gave them the ability to know and declare who was still in their sins and who was saved.
Peter also communicates the effects of this encounter to us when he explains that the apostles have the ability to write scripture inspired from God.
2 Peter 1:19-21 ESV
19 And we have something more sure, the prophetic word, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, 20 knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. 21 For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
What would you like to clear up about John 6?
do you read/watch the news? Some of the worst nutjobs are the most educated, right up to physicians and people with PhDs in physical sciences. Whatever qualifications Macarthur has, they fall down when he says the Pope is the anti-Christ. Common tactic. There is no basis for the Pope being the anti-Christ, and this is nothing new from the anti-Catholic world, we’ve heard it all before.Dr. Macarthur is one of the most well respected evengelical theologians inthe United States. He is also the author of the study portions of the highly acclaimed Macarthur Study bible. He has also written a commentary over the bible.
Here he is on Larry King:

Ah so you don’t believe in apostolic succession even though we see that when Judas dies another takes his office. St.Peter was/is the first bishop of Rome, any who succeeds him has taken his office, this office is the same office that Jesus proclaimed the Church would be built on (rock/Peter). God bless. The apostle Peter and the Roman Catholic pope are not the same thing.
I guess it is clear to you, but it remains not clear to me.The bible simply tells us what is scripture which is clear from Ephesians 2:20
The bible is also not for a neutral observer but for the people of God.
The entire canon of scripture is the writings of the apostles and prophets that were received by the people of God whether Jews or Christians.
